We made it to the first ending of Phantom Liberty! I’d like to never look at another robot again in my life, thank you lol. If you played this path, what did you choose to do with Songbird in the end and why? No spoilers for the other path please 🙂
Also heads up that i’ll make sure to film the call from Reed at the beginning of the next video, right before we reload an old save and choose to betray him! I’m excited 😈
In this ending after reading the entries about songbirds mental state due to exposure to the blackwall, killing her was mercy at that point.
Apparently this is the rarest ending to get, most people have made different choices, however I also got this ending the first time and it's actually my favorite. Because even though I never fully trusted So Mi, I decided to fulfill her wish and like you I cried while doing so, which I wasn't expecting at all. And then the end credits with that song, after seeing Reed slowly walk away, also made me feel really sad… but that's kinda the beauty of it, in my opinion.
The only thing I did differently is that I first said "What if I refuse?", to which she replied: "I'll be forever lost… searching for myself in endless loops… beyond the Blackwall… not knowing who I was… An algorithm lost and dreaming… the memories of a human, someone else… To exist like this? I can't. Let me die, help me die, please."
And since you asked, yes, sparing her would have meant delivering her to Myers, no happy ending. After making that decision she would have said, "No, please! You're leaving me to a fate worse than death…"
I find it interesting that you were worried about being judged for making that decision, because that's exactly what I would have done in real life as well, so no judgment here.
In this ending the only alternative was to give So Mi to Myers – which would have been cruel. There are no easy choices in this game, but your choice was probably the best.
I fully agree with Johnny – the ideas that Reed blindly believes in (service to the state = Myers) are destroying his loved ones. And his tragedy is that he doesn't notice this while being a pawn in Myers' game. So I totally agree with that 1:27:13
I look forward to your choices in the second path!
I've gone the first time with Songbird.
I played this one the second DLC playthrough with another old character. I didn't kill her only to see the complete alternate path…i can't express how dirty i felt and will never do this again.
You should try playing the other endings as well if you have time.
In this final thread with Songbird's betrayal, you made the right choice by killing her. By leaving her alive and handing her over to Solomon, you would have doomed her to a life of eternal nightmare. I ask you to go to the ending with Solomon's betrayal and acting according to Songbird's plan. It's canon in my opinion.
The only mistake you've made was skipping the ending song with the cinematics… its too good to skip it. And you could ask So Mi in the core "what if I refuse", the she would explain a little, with the second option she would just beg you till Reed comes.
While the main story of the DLC is over with this mission (or its counterpart when siding with Songbird), there're still a few Gigs from Hands that are great and which I would enjoy watching you play. I don't believe I've seen anyone else show those exactly because they only come up after the last story mission, so it would be something of a unique feature too. 😉
I chose Songbird's path in my first ending, so won't spoil anything, but there's the best ending in this path imho
as for the other path, I chose to kill So Mi, of course, I cried too, still crying watching this🥲
yeah V would've had the cure if she hand over So Mi to Myers, but if I were in her shoes I couldn't live with myself knowing I condemn a friend to endless suffering
If you insist there is another "solution" Song just continues to beg you to kill her — explains that by giving her to the FIA you're consigning her to a kind of hell. The Blackwall AI are slowly eating her mind/memories (kinda like Johhny is supposed to consume yours eventually) and that's why you're frequently hearing them talk to you thru her back at Cynosure. They want to use her to penetrate the Wall and get into our world. They were controlling the robot thru her. (I think this AI threat might be an overarching part of the plotline in future CP games. Feels like the devs are dropping those breadcrumbs.) So there is no choice but to honor Song's wishes or give her back to the FIA to be used/abused. I made the same choice you did. Wrecked me. But sometimes the hardest choice is the right one.
Man the responses to your two questions before you kill So Mi are SO well acted, and I wish you had pressed them. (although I get why the apprehension that you might not be able to kill her could be a choice after them.) All in all one of my favorite endings. You truly need to see both endings to fully experience them, excited for your betrayal of Reed.
By keeping Songbird alive, she says we are giving her a destiny worse than death. That's why I think while King of Cups is not a happy ending, it's probably the best for her.
1:13:10 walked right past the legendary, must have really been caught up in the moment.
Second best ending – This ending means that Songbird convinced you in her decisions, and next playthrough you will be with her all the way
