We all know the missions of Cyberpunk 2077 are named after various songs. What isn’t discussed enough or even talked about is how exactly these songs relate to what’s occurring in the exact mission whether that’s a surface based connection or a much deeper one surrounding the devs and songwriters. I aim to highlight that connection.

so happy to see this finally !!!!
Peak just dropped
I came just to hear how you could talk deep about the meaning behind “boat drinks” but ended up staying for the amazing and thought provoking videos! Loved this series so much!!!
Another things I like to think about in Don't Fear The Reaper. You literally become a Reaper, you become death, against a company that is renowned for it's malice schemes, and destruction. In a way the song becomes your theme throughout the mission.
In my eyes, it's also the other side of the path of least resistance/sucide ending, but instead from coming from v, it's johnny who proposes it.
I know I'm giving way too much meaning to a more gameplay focused mission which doesn't give much in terms of lore, but it just feels right. You've comed this far, and death awaits everyone at some point. So why not go out with a bang, with your favorite choom.
Nice!
This has been a great series so far, excited to see the conclusion!
The first John Wick is by far my favorite Keanu Reeves performance. So much of that movie would not work without the pain he constantly eminates under his cool facade. The action and handling of weapons done by him is also some next level dedication.
Great work as always! I totally get the obsession about this game, from both a gameplay standpoint and just pure art and storytelling, I've never had anything hit me quite like this, which is probably why I've put 2K hours into it, lol!
I'm sure whatever you cover next will be great, but you better cover Orion when it drops!
Oh, and my favorite Keanu movie is a tie (I know, it's a total copout…) between Speed for the nostalgia feels and A Scanner Darkly, which I cannot recommend enough if you have never seen it. It's both brilliantly written and acted and the most visually unique movie I have ever seen. There's really nothing else like it!
The ending that was added in Phantom Liberty might be the most realistic and saddest ending in Cyberpunk.
I think a good song for things done changed is where am I by title fight, it has that reflection of the pass and nostalgia but also has the realisation that things need to move on
Keanu Reeves appeared in an Anthrax video in the 00s, and I believe is a fan of the band, so I wonder if that impacted the choice to have one of their songs in there in Belly of the Beast https://youtu.be/YSzHCbvBEkI?si=2jMUyu4j-DEVmtVt
I think Dont Fear The Reaper is the canon one however we do go to the Aldecaldos at the end. I dont think any ending is "true canon"
4:58 Fun fact: In the Polish version of the game, Nocturne Op55n1 is called "Komu Bije Dzwon" which literally means "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Hemingway's novel in Polish translation has also the same name. While the Rouge mission before storming Arasaka Tower with her is called just "Play it again, Rouge" and doesn't hold any symbolic meaning. A lot of the Polish mission names don't.
14:06 Another fun fact: In the Polish version this mission is called exactly what Dexter DeShawn said to us in the car in the prologue "Life of a peacful man".
