I think the Empress is actually Alt Cunningham. Perfectly fits her narrative. She is feminine, in cyberspace she is the mother of all processes, she knows what she wants, she is refined. In her creative way she grows out of her mortal being, so she definitely listened to her own intuition on her path.
boyo there's evidence of jackie leaving us info. the tarot cards are in the same style of mistys cards so hypothesis is jackie left info on the bio chip and remembered the cards he gave to misty as a gift i think this because the scans show the same style of cards as mistys but this only evidence so think of this as head cannon
Great video, sorry I said the other was too long. Keep it up dawg. Best cyberpunk YouTuber!
The Sun ending isn't about survival and success in regaining V's life back. It's almost the opposite – becoming a legend, the end in the blaze of glory. It's about mythological Icarus flying higher than ever, up to the Sun, against all odds.
… Alt wrote the program that is killing you and resurrecting Johnny, and it is her presence which drives the plot…
between the fact that the main story isn't that long, and these cards are semi-predictors of the future or descriptions of the stoy (depending on how you look at it), I wish they had enough post game quests to make it feel like you get a sense of how much your "changes" affected the world, and give better context to your endings. I definitely feel like we should find out more about Mr. Hand.
Bro how is the quality of your videos and your analysis of the game so fantastic and consistent? Loved the video man, keep up the great work!
Love ur cyberpunk videos, i have watched and rewatched most if not all i have 300 hrs and ur still showing me shit i haven't seen before, love it, so long as u make any vids u have my attention
The reverse hierophant is Adam smasher
Lads, I present you the Byf of Cyberpunk.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
Maybe the cards showing up where they do isn't about some higher power, but something more archaic in nature. Knowing something we shouldn't have, but yet we do.
The chip is also pretty arching itself, functionality with tech, which we can't start comprehending. Maybe even some black magic from vampire were used to make them.
I hope in Phantom Liberty we get more cards based on the characters and the story of the DLC😄
This latest run of mine I delayed the Fool on the hill until the very end. Usually as soon as act 2 started I ran around and grabbed them. This time I just completed it as I'm completing everything before going to Embers. I didn't make the connection that Death was on the side of Embers until this run and thought. "How fitting"
I always read the Magician as Evelyn. Both her Charisma in drawing in so many into her plans, and her eventual fate taking her own life linking into the Magician reversed. Though I can definitely see Johnny as well.
The placement of the Sun image always confused me, I couldn't tell that it was close to the apartment; at street level it's just a random wall.
Wake up, babe. New Samothy Branthony Lore Video just dropped.
Mr blueeyes can be magician
i think the hanged man also represents the struggles CDPR has had to go through for the past 3 years of development.
Not much to comment on this. The video is complete so good job! For that. Sidetrack for vid suggestion. Ever consider trying out viewer builds? I just finished one that backlooking had some similarities to your netgunner build that was tons of fun!
General summary: full non lethal focus build. Smart gun SMGs. Quickhacks. So it was intellect for both breach and quickhacks. Then Reflex just to get SMG stuff. Cool for cold blooded and the remaining dip into tech for the reload skill and a bit of craft!
So was all about the crits. With crit and non lethal mods on a certain EMP gun, investing a lot to keep it upgraded.
I think you really have to draw some parallels with the Persona series which also makes heavy use of Tarot. Every card in Persona represents someone, with of course the Fool being either the main character or the whole party the character is part of. Characters like Yukiko (P4) and Makoto (P5) are represented by the High Priestess, and their personalities and developments reflect both the upright and reverse versions. They're both what would be considered women who fit a Japanese ideal for what a woman should be while after awakening their Personas rebel and show aspects of themselves they'd never show the world. Both characters are wise, but hold secrets from people as part of their personal struggles. Yukiko hides her resentment of Chie for being more free and unbound, while Makoto hides the fact she's a Phantom Thief from her sister and steals data from her computer. Tactics Ogre also likes to make use of Tarot, but I find that one a little hard to draw from for this.
What I like here is that you're not limiting things to people, but also specific events and places. Though I would hard core say The Devil is Arasaka itself. But the Devil card isn't always a bad thing. The Reverse Devil represents freedom and divorce. Within the context of the ending, it's clear we're talking Upright Devil. However, endings like The Star practically do have the Reverse Devil… the only thing perhaps you're not free of in any ending is the Specter of Death. The only time you're free of that, you're bound to Arasaka.
One could argue to some degree Jackie may have imprinted as when we encounter him at the end, there's the suggestion of Jackie, but it's almost an empty shell and a mockery of what he is. It just repeats his lines about making it to the Big Leagues but without any of the soul or understanding or desire for what it was… Just… a suggestion of the strongest desires. So while it is possible Jackie imprinted… it just doesn't seem like it would be enough to do something as profound as place the Tarot around NC. Additionally, if that were the case… Why isn't V imprinting on the chip? It could be said perhaps V does influence Johnny some as they merge into a single personality. Johnny does chill out and become less reckless through V, and learn to see himself through the eyes of others and realize how he hurt those around him. He does try to atone for those things. But is that V leaving an imprint or V and Johnny merging? There's a lot to think about.
I never really liked the tarot cards in the game. Felt sort of like they wanted some sort of deep analogy about fate but they sort of forced it in, sort of made up the meanings to fit what they wanted, which… if you’re going to make stuff up just make it all up, don’t try to hijack an existing set of symbols and try to make it work.
she dropped some major hints from her readings including the 4 endings
19:00 You can see that one in multiple ways. Some folks find that Evelyn was out to sc*ew them over. Thus justice for her.
My take on it is that V themself is the justice that strikes the Scavs and pulls Evelyn out of the deep hell's bottom where she down-spiraled off to.
Bro really been dropping back to back bangers
You always make me love Night City more in each video
The Devil is my favourite ending. What's the cyberpunk setting without corps?
One thing people don't want to admit about the Tarot Cards is probably the most important thing in all of pop culture. With the use of the Tarot, it makes ALL of Cyberpunk 2077 one big JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference.
The magician also looks a lot like David, as a player brought in by the anime that's the first thing I thought.
I've always interpreted the Hermit card to represent Vik Vektor. "In solitude he discovers the truth about himself & the world." In act 1, Vic mentions how once you reach a certain age, you stop lying to yourself and see your place in the world. Vic is always down in his basement keeping to himself, he's very introverted. The dialog with him in act 1 shows he's contempt with just being a simple Riperdoc and not trying to become a NC legend. Sounds alot like the Tarot card, he understands his place in the world while he works in solitude. The lantern part of the card, could kinda represent his advice he gives us in act 1 to help guide/ warn V.
Misty also mentions the Hermit "could be someone who shows you kindness" & who shows us alot of kindness by donating a 20,000 $ Kioshi eye implant despite V being a nobody in the beginning of the game, that's right, our boi Vik. The Hermit doesn't steal the show & prefers solitude over the limelight, IMO its him to a T.
So some minor things (I'll probably edit and add to this comment as I watch if I need to lol first off interesting point to mention is the dog in the Fool card symbolising Johnny, the fool's companion (and it represents something in tarot I can't remember, it's like curiosity or knowledge or something idk) but also Johnny is the black dog (e.g his last single, the whole lyric sheet of that ties in with the game's plot point of you and Johnny etc).. Also, as a slight tarot nerd, interesting to note that the Magician card also means transformation and rebirth, sure it could be a person (they heavily imply Johnny) but it's more about V's rebirth and subsequent relic rewriting changing their personality. This would be in line with the location, Lizzy's, á la where it essentially all starts with Evelyn proposing the plan for the heist and giving you the run down.. Hierophant, pretty much nailed it, fun fact it is literally a guardian so Takemura and Oda fit that, as does Adam Smasher… reversed Hierophant maybe? He does bring chaos and fanaticism lol but for all I know it could even be Jackie, well-intentioned but always seems to bring V a pile of chaotic shit to clean up.. Hermit.. hoo boy lol first off yes it is the VDBs 100% they are xenophobic and cut off the rest of the world, seeking knowledge and to achieve their goal so put some respect on that lol they are the definition of it, also Pacifica is cut-off from the rest of the city, it could be referring to the scene in the hotel with Johnny, isolation and self-reflection to ponder what to do next as he gives you his dog tags. Fun thing to ponder also: could be Alt sure, could also apply to the Zen Master who shows you kindness by guiding your meditation (shows all the traits described by the card). As far as Temperance goes it also shows Johnny growing up and gaining inner balance and peace, no longer being a shithead, he (spoilers) buys a kid a badass guitar and leaves the glam of NC presumably for good. The Moon: as a fun aside you should know that the FF(can't remember the rest lol B5 something?) mystery ties this into it with other clues heavily implying that V and the world they're in might not be reality. (V's memorial epitaph is "dreamer" there is discourse that V might be colorblind or imho that Johnny is due to the HUD color change when he takes over, either way there are hints in Kiroshi ads that there are some things V can't see with their eyes, the moon tarot graffiti itself apparently has different shit on it only appearing at night, the whole Jane Doe Mælstrom conspiracy shit goes into it further with Lilith and the 10th circle some people say Lilith could be Hanako, got sidetracked but also when you enter the game it says breached more like you're netrunning in a system than living in a reality, obvious stuff with cat is very odd and gives some unreality vibes, when you die and game over I think I heard someone say that's closer to how you would get burnt while netrunning then a real death, etc I'm sure there's more it's a lot lol) it's a very strange and interesting rabbit hole.. but overall yeah, great video, the boring irl answer is that it's the devs being cheeky and that devs usually like to sprinkle in some spiritual unexplainable stuff in games
The Tarot quest has another purpose, assuming that you do it right after the Heist; Every one of the Tarot marker sites is close to a fast travel point. IMHO, the Tarot Quest was added to do many things. It gave us a long over-arching plot. It gives us quite a few dialog options with Misty. It also sets us up to use fast travel to get to most of the major map points if we wish.
Love this content looking at someone passionate is refreshing
Is this a JoJo reference?
I felt like Justice was meant to signify one of the last things Judy warned Evelyn of, that if she tried to cheat the fragile system by which Night City operates, it would eat her alive. The first thing she did after was pull V aside and ask them to cheat Dex. The job itself was "stolen", in a way, from her own employers. As a result the City devoured her mind, body, and soul, taking it's own justice.
Mate I just finished Cyberpunk’s new novel “No Coincidence” and you should definitely give it a read. Saying anything about the story would spoil it and significantly dilute the experience so I hope other commenters won’t accidentally spoil it in the future before you get the chance (also audiobook is narrated by Cherami Leigh who voices female V and its amazing)
The whole Tarot ethos is about guidance, but never answers. The only answers one ever receives are in retrospective, and even then remain highly speculative and subject to one's point-of-view. They were implemented quite well in this game, if you ask me.
pretty sure i got the devil without saving takemura.
V has no Natural Tendency to accept any job that comes up, V doesn't have a choice and of course Johnny Silverhand stays afloat, because he is a figment of Vs brain and has No physical form to either stop or be harmed in anyway. Only V can be harmed or killed.
As for the Hanged man, Johnny sacrificed himself and Thousands of other innocent people when he detonated a couple of Nukes in the middle of a city.
Great video really interesting 😊
My theory is that V's subconscious has a rough idea of what's coming or what situation he's in at certain points in story, and the relic helps him visualize it by showing it to him as tarot cards. The subconscious mind tries to protect you from danger by sending warning signals, which is the case with many cards. It warns you about the future, what you will become or what people you should beware of. Assuming we see the tarot graffities at the same time of the certain story sections and internalize them, then we will, for example, at the devil ending come to the idea that we were fooled, after we realized that we were not actually helped because arasaka didnt kept their promise. If we have seen all the other tarot graffities, only 2-3 tarot symbols can come into question, of which one can only assume the devil tarot in the current situation. Would also explain why we don't see any graffiti, but only the devil's head in the cube, as a nightmare sequence, next to the others we have during the stay in the arasaka space station. Another warning that we have made the wrong choice, but we can still take the deal or leave it. Another thought of mine was that we see the tarot graffities through V's and Johnny's perspective and our merged opinion indicates that respective graffiti we see.
23:00 love my ending
