The ending sequence gives off some serious James Bond vibes.
Pretty tense fighting at the end there!
The blessing of multiple characters: You can play every ending. Done it, and this was my first play through of Phantom Liberty.
♫ Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
♪ Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
♫ Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
♪ The time is gone, the Song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Love this ending! Well done!
In hindsight I think the other path is a much more fitting end, but I think most of us pick Songbird's path first.
Well… the end… or is it?
Still have some missions to do and I hope You actually took time (this time around) to finish them.
I really hope You will also try the other way (no spoilers) but that is completely different ending. Anyway – hope to hear Your thoughts on the expansion Mr. Gopher. I always enjoy Your review/critic of the games. 🙂
That shot at Reed took me like three reloads until I actually managed it. Very strange final boss 😂
I do hope he goes for the Star ending because the female V's Star ending is arguably the best ending in the game.
Loved it. Another fine LP, Gopher
I knew V's favorite color was red.
Highly recommend on your own time to play through the other ending. Personally I think its better, but both are really good.
well, the phantom liberty storyline was certainly better than cyberpunk's original plot that's for fukin sure.
I like the story. CDPR did a good job of not making it the typical Paragon/Renegade choice. There's no greater good to saving Songbird, there's no personal gain, little miss red flags isn't the innocent damsel in distress. You don't owe her anything. Giving her up is perfectly justifiable, with the only question being who is your V? It isn't a moral choice, it isn't a pragmatic choice, it's just a question of who you are and what your gut wants to do. Deep down, are you a sympathetic romantic or a needs must survivor.
What a ride!
Brought a tear, this. Ain't gonna lie.
i liked that by video game writing logic Songbird is the good way and Reed is the evil gouvernment way. And Gopher followed suit. But it completely messes this logic up. Having tried all options, Calling Reed at the end felt like the right thing to do.
She is as manipulative as everybody else. Arguably worse, because with Myers you know where you stand. And they keep their promise to you. Songbird kills innocents at the drop of a hat too. There is just absolutely no moral reason to feel sorry for Songbird anymore and self sacrifice, which you do going back to the Vanilla endings.
Also Johnny there on his high horse (if you give Songbird up, he sits even higher)… he nuked a building full of innocent office workers, to hit the few on the top, who lived anyway. His moral leverage in dialogues always felt a bit weak.
Really enjoyed this, Gopher. Thanks. And it's rather apt that those end credits were reminiscent of a Bond film in some way…
Damn, what a cool storyline! Had me hooked all the way through. What am i supposed to watch now while doing homeoffice? 😅
The story of songbird is a good example of how systems of power makes resistance so deadly. Songbird had no other way out but to cause death in escaping because they would never let her, to be put in that situation should never have happened. It is fitting that reed who recruited songbird in the first place dies refusing to drop his principles.
Saving songbird still feels like the right decision, despite it all, it's better to resist than to stay complicit.
I wish I had better words, but it's so good, the writers at cdpr really understand what they are writing about and it's such a big contrast to some other games.
i really like that both of the dlc ending paths both feel extremely compelling to the point where its super difficult to choose. after a while i also settled with this ending being my favorite outcome, tho i have to say that the other path is arguably better in terms of the missions you get. I also lowkey feel like you need to see both paths for the story to really make sense as a whole but it is understandable how in a format like this only one ending for the dlc and main game is going to be possible. curious which main game ending will be chosen, my guess would be once again between 2 of them.
