I am following all the new information surrounding the found betas and information in them and will be covering them after the holiday weekend!

With Cyberpunk 2077 having received several updates, Microsoft appears satisfied enough with it that it’ll stop offering digital refunds next month. By now, most are already familiar with Cyberpunk 2077’s infamous and controversial release. What was one of the most anticipated games of 2020 quickly became a source of mockery due to it being plagued with all manner of technical issues, severely tarnishing CD Projekt RED’s reputation. It’s even facing a class-action lawsuit from its own investors. In the six or so months since its release, the studio has regularly updated the game with hotfixes to address the myriad issues and it now appears to have reached a state that Microsoft finds acceptable.

This is because Microsoft has decided to end its refund policy for Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox platforms. Normally, digital purchases are considered final, although Microsoft’s policy states that some refunds may be eligible depending on the circumstances. In Cyberpunk 2077’s case, though, Microsoft has been allowing players to refund digital copies of the game from the Microsoft Store in full since December, shortly after its release, making it quite the outlier. The discovery comes from Microsoft updating its Digital Game Purchase Refund Terms page to say that it will stop accepting refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 in a couple of weeks on July 6th. It even specifically mentions this is because of the updates CD Projekt RED has been adding to the game, clearly indicating that Microsoft believes the game is now in enough of a workable state where owners can’t justify asking for a refund.

This comes not too long after Sony announced that the game had returned to the PlayStation Store. Unlike Microsoft, Sony opted to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from its digital storefront entirely, meaning people haven’t been able to purchase a digital copy of the game for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 since December. Despite its return, Sony has suggested avoiding playing it on a base PS4 console and recommends playing it on a PS4 Pro or PS5.
