Cyberpunk 2077 is a game about surviving on the grimy, dystopian and occasionally buggy streets of Night City, where a washed up corpo hedgehog has to do some rather morally questionably stuff to make it through the day…

  1. Oddly, I found the open world parts quickly became shallow for me when I played Cyperpunk 2077 when it came out. The story quests, while talking your ear off at every turn, felt far more interesting than at least most of the quests dotted around the world. Mind you, there's a few that were memorable, like the one where you have to drive a man whose male enhancements are malfunctioning to the cyberdoc before they completely break. Or the thing dealing with the guy sentenced to death that got down right unsettling. But most had my "screw the corpos and police" street kid V playing rent-a-cop, which felt rather odd. And the kicker is that outside of factions that are default hostile to your character, there were almost no consequences (outside the dangers of doing the actual job itself) for doing jobs for anyone who asked against anyone else in the city.

I'll admit, at first, as I wandered through the bustling crowds, Night City felt like a living, breathing world that I looked forward to getting fully lost in. But it didn't take long before it all started to feel artificial (and not in the intended way) and shallow. The moment you realize that all but a tiny hand full of plot- or quest-relevant NPCS are just randomly generated characters who will wander around an area and cease to be the moment you leave, the illusion is shattered. I get that assigning every NPC a home and schedule would be a ludicrous undertaking, but there could have been some middle ground if they wanted the world to be as immersive as they expected it to be.

Now that so much work has been done to it, I probably do need to go back and finish the game (I got about two-thirds of the way through the main story and got bored but I've seen videos of what I've missed). I'm curious if my completely broken build has been fully nerfed after a year and a half of updates. .

  2. On a side note if I may. I comprehend and understand I am a small fish and you are a big corporation. And I know you won’t respond. But sometimes us little fish feel good just letting out.
You are the reason I play fallout 4 YOLO. I know you are the fallout 4 GURU.
Master? I wouldn’t say that. I don’t know what mods you use. I play fallout 4 on an XBOX series X. And I struggle and try. I have mods that I don’t know if you can play Fallout 4 YOLO even on a computer.
So if I may ask the Fallout 4 YOLO guru? Try real mods on a Fallout 4 YOLO RUN.

Real mods that make it difficult. See sometimes us little fish like real games and real gamers.
You’re YOLO runs are too easy.

  3. Pretty homely, dare I say ugly big nose PC. I struggle playing females. I just do not understand it. Too many male advances and I play first person and really never see myself. Companions, now companions and mods for NPC are awesome like Busty. Definitely like Busty.

  4. I played at launch and I experienced almost none of the problems that got all the press. Two glitched out missions, one of which required loading from further back than the most recent autosave, one FPS drop zone that didn't even have any combat so it was kinda meh, and the occasional texture popin (or not..) due to bad high rez distance triggering. It wasn't bad.

  5. I've never played Cyberpunk and I wasn't looking at the screen when Jon said 'Alright, Jenkins, my old friend', so I thought he was making a Mass Effect joke. (Like with Trask in KOTOR)

  6. I feel like this game is odd with car damage to npcs. Sometimes a person can get hit by a car going 100 mph, then stand up and be fine, but in other cases you just bump someone and they die instantly and you have the cops on you

  7. I'm honestly not sure I'll ever really get this game. I was planning to wait until I had a PS5 anyway(whenever that is) but it just sounds like it's not even that amazing even ignoring all the buggy crap, seems like a massive step down from Witcher 3.
It should have had another 2 years.

I just don't have faith they'll fix it and make some great DLC for it.

  8. I had such an unholy amount of bugs in that game that I never got past the first hour. It was a slap in the face and an insult. I watched a few playthroughs and it turned out neither gameplay nor story were in any way interesting or groundbreaking. I am glad CDPR is going back to what they are good at.

  9. I had few problems on launch… with a glaring exception being the "fashion" which looks like a little girls coloring book threw up on a dumpster of rags. In a genre where "style over substance" is a critical component this is an epic fail. Most of my problems stem from the people who made this game do not understand the genre and didn't even bother to try to understand it. Gameplay was fine.

  10. I also waited till the recent big patch and I've been having a great time with it. Yes, it's still very buggy but it's mostly background stuff now and the well written and well voice acted missions make that stuff irrelevant. Love the combat too. There's a great game here but it needed a lot more time, pity it's too broken to fully fix but well worth your time, I really enjoy it. It's 50% off on sale by now and you'll get your money's worth.

  11. I really enjoyed my playthrough of it!
Nudity can be turned off in the launcher before starting your save.
Just as a hint to save a bit on the hedgehogs if this game comes up again.

  12. I finally went and played it after the PS5 upgrade came out and it's a good game. Still has some bugs, but overall, it's a game worth playing. The main story takes a little bit to get going, but it gets pretty crazy after.

  13. For the longest time I was so incredibly disappointed because this game has some of the most interesting world design, incredible music, a sublime story, amazingly well realised characters and probably the most fun hacking-only playthrough since Watch Dogs 2 (but that's more me and my Netrunning Nomad style cause who can pass up on alliteration)

I love this game so much and honestly I havent even seen the video yet cause I just woke up and its 6:23 am but I already wanna do a whole new playthrough on PS5 since my trophies didnt carry over

  14. Always loved the Cyberpunk genre. Practically grew up on Shadowrun before graduating to the Matrix. But after watching this (supposedly fixed) sh*tshow…I'm very glad I missed this game. Looks absolutely terrible! Lots of dumb bling, no substance. Not a good first impression.

  15. Jon they added other apartments you can buy, you'd love the corpo one. Also clothes you can buy change based on what part of town you're in. There's a shop west-north-west of corpo plaza that has the highest fashions.

  17. I recently played through Cyberpunk 2077 myself, and it was one of the most uniquely frustrating experiences I've had in a long time. The writing and game design constantly veers between being either fantastic or horrendous, with very little in between. Story-wise especially, there are so many times it comes within an inch doing something legitimately inventive and clever, or saying something meaningful… only to abruptly reverse direction and go for the most boring, cliched, and predictable option imaginable. This game has a lot of potential; there are lots of memorable characters, fun quests, and surprisingly touching and sincere moments. Ultimately, however, it was let down by the ending for me, which was handled atrociously badly and is original pre-Broken Steel Fallout 3 levels of nonsensical and dumb, in my view.

Which isn't to say that I didn't enjoy a lot of what Cyberpunk has to offer. There is a lot to enjoy, and I'd certainly be interested in seeing what Jon has to say about this game.

  18. You completed one of the hardest starting zone missions at low level. Well done. This game is so atmospheric. I really felt like I was driving through a big city. (Still want flying cars, though!)

  19. It's slow to start and bugy but the game is really fun, BTW the call from regina Jones you ignored was your mission briefing for the assassination you did, and the call after the mission was she calling you to tell you how you did and that you are getting payed
