  1. Hey, the reason I betrayed Songbird had nothing to do with rationalizing her as a bad person.

When it comes down to it, I just don’t think I owe her anything. Not for the price of helping her. Not when she’s playing by the same dirty rules as everyone else.

  2. Point of Phantom Liberty as a spy thriller is, that all main charcters (Reed, Songbird, Meyers, Alex) try to recruit V as an asset by pulling Vs emotional buttons – or the players emotional buttons. So the player is directly lured to simp for Songbird or to buy into warbuddy feelings or to hope for and believe promises which cannot be fulfilled. Or just go for loot and blood.
At the start of the spy romp Johnny gives you the layout: "There are seasoned players on the field. So go out and play, just do not get played." There are no nice people out there in phantom liberty. Everybody is a little bit nice if they need you. Strong "Homeland" vibes.

  3. Songbird was never a bad person, and it's questionable how much of it was her being controlled by the blackwall. Both Songbird and the blackwall wanted to be free, Songbird because she didnt want to be caged in by the NUSA, and the blackwall because the old infrastructure was falling apart. While yes, V got a raw deal, it's relatable. Songbird didn't do it out of malice, she did it to survive, and for her freedom.

  4. I mean, she's basically your chrome up Lucy, net runner and all. Sending her to the moon is the only way. The game actively punishes you for betraying Songbird with the whole Alien isolation part and for consolation prize, you get to unleash some scifi skynet alien thingy out into the wild. While siding with Songbird you get to slice and dice up the NUSA black ops with sick beat drops. From a gameplay standpoint, that Cynosure part of the game fucking sucks, I don't see myself ever picking it in subsequence playthrough, while the airport is too cool to pass. Only down side is you get to do a red dead redemption finale on Reed who has been nothing but fair and honest to you.
