Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that touches on themes of corruption, identity, and how to spend one’s life. One important theme that I often don’t see discussed is the futility of choice. Is there actually free will when politics, marketing, social media, and culture shape how you think? Can you actually live a free life with the power of corporations breathing down your neck? That’s what I aim to discuss.

Choice in video games is always going to be fairly limited, especially if you are playing through a story game. The real choice in game comes down to how you play, what perks you pick. When it comes to choice in games, nothing really compares to pen and paper RPGs. Unless some AIs get through the blackwall soon to fill the role that a GM does in a video game, it will be a while before choice in a video game comes anywhere close to TTRPGs
Damn this will blow up some day. Algorithm god take a favor on you

The "Suicide Ending" could be argued to be the most selfless choice V could make under the circumstances. Solving their problem on their own rather than risk the lives of anyone else just on the chance they can find a way to stay alive after the dust settles. No one else, like Rogue or Saul, has to die this way. The most satisfying ending to me is still Don't Fear the Reaper though, a blaze of glory like Silverhand before, but dying there is treated the same as if V killed themselves, with the same heartbreaking holo calls in the credits after from any friends they still had.
You forgot about the Phantom Liberty endings?
