Quest Director plays Cyberpunk 2077! #49 part I

Read more about Cyberpunk 2077➜ https://cyberpunk2077.mgn.tv

To celebrate the announcement of Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners we have watched together opening credits and discussed a lot of matters surrounding narrative design. In second part of the stream (after dealing with the stream’s technical issues) I have played more Cyberpunk 2077!

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG that I have co-created. As I love talking about design, storytelling, and psychology in games, I have started streaming on Twitch and discussing it all with my audience.

My goal is to share everything I have learned over a decade in the AAA games industry, openly exchange ideas, explain creative decisions and encourage the next generation of game designers and storytellers to create.

  1. I have a superpower to check YouTube when you upload the videos it seems – just checked YouTube and you uploaded 11 minutes ago 😀
Despite all the technical issues it was a great stream! Thank you for streaming for us!
I wonder if you take part in any of CDPR 20th Anniversary streams as well, if it's not a secret? 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question about romances! I know a lot of us were curious to hear a developer's opinion on it. I played as male V and tried both Kerry's and Panam's romances. Kerry's romance doesn't feel worse, just less fleshed out, because there's so little flirty dialogue in his romance. It's a great idea for each romance to feel different, but I think that each option should have enough of romance dialogue because it's that kind of dialogue that helps to show a romantic connection developing between characters.

Feel free to ignore this, but I'd like to share an example to illustrate what I meant. The first time V is able to show interest in Kerry is during Off the Leash which is his 2nd to last quest. That in itself is fine and even makes sense given Kerry's complicated feelings towards Johnny that he needs time to deal with. It's a bit unusual that V has no options to flirt earlier, but perhaps V knew just the right amount of time to give to Kerry.

But when the final quest, Boat Drinks, starts there's no romance dialogue available for V until the sex scene trigger. Most of the quest goes by with V acting completely uninterested in Kerry, which is odd because V's interest has been reciprocated in the previous quest. After Kerry's questline is complete, there's no dialogue or greeting that would acknowledge his romance is active, which is something everyone else has. V's behaviour feels inconsistent throughout Kerry's romance because of how sparse romance specific dialogue is.

I hope this won't come across as out of line, but having some romance dialogue options in Boat Drinks (for example: during the phone call that starts the quest, when meeting Kerry at the marina or while trashing the yacht) and at least a single dialogue option post-questline that would acknowledge he's in a relationship with V would have been enough, imo, and kept the flow of Kerry's romance and V's behaviour consistent.

What's there is made with undeniable quality, but quite a lot of people feel that Kerry's romance would feel more fleshed out if there was a bit more romance dialogue options, and this applies to River too. I'm sorry for a very long comment, and thank you again for answering my question. Have a great week!

  3. So, I said this on the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube, on the Edgerunners Opening Credits video.
"David Martinez will go out with a bang, like Jackie. I can feel it. His drink at the Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 kinda confirms it… That final shot of the video, where the figure is towering over him with a gun in hand, its silhouette almost like a building, with images of megatowers, corporations, etc.. within it. Probably a visual metaphor that the city will be the death of David 😉 "

Am I onto something there, Mr. Sasko? 😉

  4. 54:00 about the person talking about River being Mute. in previous versions of the game i had an issue where the audio source would not follow the character Models after skipping a driving segment or reloading. Like when in River's car on his way to visit his informant. If V skipped the drive, River's audio source would get stuck in place where the "Skip" drops rivers car. Then as River drives to the shop and away from the audio sources and he gets quiet. Ive had this happen when saving and reloading after Rogue give V the replica Jacket, to go through all her dialogue options. When you get in the car, Rogue and V drive away from her audio source, stuck in the Afterlife's parking lot, on the way to the Drive in Theater. Not sure if its in the latest version of the game. Reloading usually fixes it, almost like something to loaded out of order and failed to pair the model with the audio source.

  5. to contribute with the conversation on the secrecy with game devs I must say in this day in age where people are impatient and act extremely childish when they don't get what they want it just doesn't work

nowadays everyone wants transparency and the fact that companies refuse to allow any transparency is indeed going to lead to more issues than not but I will admit there are a few out here that are somewhat transparent but it's not enough imo

  6. Hey Pawel I haven’t been able to watch your streams for a while because they’re at 4 am for me 😄

Just wondering, do you still do the part of the stream where you look at community content (art, photography etc)?

  7. Hey Pawel. As always, thanks for the upload and time stamps. Also, if you could relay this to the gameplay team, the tattoo you get when Johnny takes over still uses up the hand cyberware slot which is not ideal, so if that could be resolved in the future, that'd be nice.
