For the final episode of 2020 we’re joined by @FrameRater! He stops by for a couple of hours as we discuss gaming as work, the Cyberpunk 2077 launch situation, and adventures with an upcoming Philips CD-i purchase. We also talk repair stories and odd issues we can’t explain with consoles, because electronics do that sort of thing.

  1. Thanks for letting me be on your podcast! Just a notice, anyone who's thinking of checking out my channel just be aware that this week's planned uploads are going to be quite a deviation from the usual stuff. 'Tis the season, EH? =)

  2. I have repaired some timekeeper chips, it is not difficult at all, you can just dremel down counting from the seventh pin , most of the top of the chip is epoxy and the delicate part is ceramic at the bottom. Then you get a slab of the epoxy out and can see the battery, solder a cr2032 holder to the terminals and done. These chips were used in pcs and sun workstations, so you can buy them in Ebay and do all of this in the chip outside of the case without filling it with debris. Then you desolder the old chip, put a socket and replace it.

  3. I still get unsubbed sometimes it's just idk 🤔 I keep a list of links to all the channels I'm subbed to.

sometimes the channels change the name and that's why or they get hacked or deleted makes it tough because even though they wipe the channel it keeps you subbed somehow.

  4. The story of taking the PS2 apart reminded me of taking my PS1 apart when I was like 9/10 years old.

I left the power plugged in and gave myself one hell of an electric shock.

    Goooooood times!(?)
