Is Cyberpunk 2077 as good as a new game in 2024? 50% off on Steam right now, and with Phantom Liberty out and with the recent big patch, maybe now is the right time to check out this massive, open, cinematic action rpg.

  1. If you want a complete experience, you should watch the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime (English dub) while playing the game as well. It is a short anime (only 10 episodes) but works well with this game in the world building aspect. Also don't worry, the anime doesn't have spoilers of the in game story as the anime takes place a year prior in 2076. That said, you might find anime easter eggs, in the game though 😉

  2. Bought it when it came out and never got that far. Also bought the expansion and a new GPU so I’m going to give it another go. It’s not that I didn’t like it, just too many games that I’ve bought and haven’t played. I have to finish Starfield and I have to start Death Stranding before the second one comes out.

  3. Hey man, Been a subscriber for the greater part of 5ish years now and just want to say I'm super happy you've been enjoying your time with C2077. I started playing around this time last year and have become wholeheartedly addicted to the world. If i could Phillip Fry myself and transport my existence into that world, i would 100%. I saw another person mentioned Edgerunners and as someone who isn't really all into anime these days, the show is VEERRRRYY good. definitely worth the watch.

  4. Funny thing I came back to. Cyberpunk couple of days ago after beating it at launch.

And yeah it improved. And with mods its much more fun.

But what I had the issue with fron the start could not be fixed. My issue was with the game design itself more then with its bugs. I can accept a buggy game. But if a game design is wrong, boy you cant fix it. And I can also understand that lots of small things like vending machines had to be skipped due to time. But I really really dislike that the intro is meaningless and the part of you bonding with Jackie is a timeskip cutscene. When he dies its meaningless. He's just an npc you dont care about and so is Tbug. And damn it sucks because I wanted to like these characters. The fixers are not introduced organically but they just spamcall you when you enter their district. And how can you fix it all now? You would need to cut the story apart to include them there somehow. Or include a full DLC sized content for your beginings in NC (and give it for free because asking for money for it would be an insult).
Combat is another thing. You could either go rpg like or realism like. And its a disasterous choice, because if you go full rpg people are annoyed that enemies are bullet sponges. If you go with realism, other people will call it a COD-clone. A mod fixed it a bit for me, but still…

I wanted this game to be amazing. And definitely there is a good engine and map for it. The background for it, the world is there. And its amazing. But to fix the game, you basically need to scrap everything else and make a sequel. And I am not so sure about it since modders are currently doing more to fix the game then devs themselves (example: metro system mod, or car-flight mod)
