  1. This entire video was exactly my experience. I always said the best way to describe the problematic state at release is that it was "inconsistent"…

    Some percentage of PC players, such as myself, had very few bugs; just the occasional Bethesda-esque physics bug, one out of every few hundred object spawns. But then some players on older hardware, especially those on PS4, had a bafflingly terrible experience. Some elements of the game, like the writing and performance in the major story moments, the city design, the environmental storytelling, the overall story arc, some of the major quest lines, clearly received a lot of love and care and were absolutely phenomenal. But then other elements of the game, most notably the police system and crowd behaviors and the massive number of extremely superficial world events, felt extremely rudimentary, like a thin layer of paint slapped over a cardboard facade hiding the scaffolding of ambitions never fully realized. It was deep in some areas, shallow in others, meticulously planned and executed in some respects, haphazard and perfunctory in others.

    On the one hand, it infuriated me that people harped on about CDPR "promising" certain features when they very clearly and repeatedly indicated that everything was subject to change. On the other hand, things like the lore and your early game passenger-side tour through Night City implicitly set certain expectations about how the world would behave that just didn't get paid off. It was obvious corners had to be cut due to endless creative ambition, failures in communication, and mismanaged timelines. It made me sad.

    I am so glad the devs have been able to rebuild the game to something much closer to the vision they had in mind. The game finally feels whole.

I admit I stayed away from it from the heavy criticism upon release but soon after when I got a chance to buy it soon after…I regret every second I did not support it the moment it was announced. It has since become my favorite game of all time for all the same exact reasons you mentioned. Quite literally put my thoughts into words. I am incredibly proud of what CDPR has been able to accomplish with this resurgence. Incredible video choom❤ long live Night City!

The main thing I find an issue with is CyberPunk and more CDPR ultimately allowed video game companies to release buggy games on release and then have their underpaid staff work overtime to create fixing updates later. I’m glad the game improved but the game was released in a Terrible unacceptable state- point blank. 3 years to be at good pace is crazy. That shouldn’t be forgotten. But I’m glad to see them try to fix things and hope they learned their lesson.

  4. I totally agree with you about the awesomeness of those close moments with side characters, my only complaint is that they were too few and over too quickly. If i remember correctly, in witcher three you had side character interactions throughout all the acts, in CPunk it feels like you knock out their questline in one act, in under an hour a two and then you never really interact with them again (minus the ending). The little random text messages were a nice touch but even those ran out after an hour or two of gameplay. Despite the absolute mircale of a revival this game has gone through it makes me sad to think there could have been more. Idk. Maybe im just being greedy.

  5. Game really need a NG+. By the time your build starts coming together and your gear gets up there and youre really starting to become an absolute power fantasy, the game is pretty much over and nothing puts up much of a fight (minus the Araska and Pl) endings. I mean, i guess i could pick a fight with NCPD and see how long i can hold out, but give me a maelstorm hideout with more than 6 enemies so i can really let loose.

  6. I love this game so goddamn much. I already considered it as one of my top 5 games, but it just continues to climb the more I think about it. It has a moment for every single emotion. Confronting the father/son braindance editors is just as rage inducing as the Aldecaldo campfire scene is serene. And finishing the game for the second time recently, I felt every scene just as powerfully as the first time I played.

  7. They really nailed the sadness and seriousness in writing that the Witcher had buuuut they were kinda lacking on the humor that W3 had. I can remember audibly laughing out loud at moments in that game. I think i only cracked up maybe once in cpunk. Missed oppurtunity is when you meet Panaam for the first time and shes working under the hood. Shes already pissed off and at wits end (it is panaam after all) how great would it have been if the hood falls on her being the last straw sending her into a tirade of yelling and cursing. This would have added a bit of humor to her introduction to V while still giving off who she is and what her personality is about.
    Bonus would be V failing to control his laughter asking if shes ok. I think v laughs once in the main game and its when skippy starts singing.

  8. Honestly i really wanted to play this game after watching your videos but i still held on for this update and its obviously improves the experience by a lot but now i see that i would have enjoyed the amazing story, characters, setting etc regardless of the update.

  9. I must have been lucky… I played it from day one and while there were some bugs, I had a smooth experience on my first playthrough on PC. So I liked it from the get go. It was a great story, had good characters, and an amazing world at release. But its mechanics were half baked. The difference between then and now is that Cyberpunk 2077 is actually a great GAME now. It's more than just its story and characters which were always good. The game play mechanics and character progression systems are very interesting and fun to play with. They were the weak spot for the game all the way up to 2.0. I mean the difference between a well thought out skill and perk system and the thrown together one we got at release is night and day. One thing I want to mention though. When people said "the world doesnt feel alive"… A lot of times I think that was a consequence of most "quests" being given through phone call or just presented as a spot on the map. I know its more medieval but a lot of times in the Witcher 3 you would stumble upon quests while exploring the world. I remember in Skellige walking past a village where people were arguing with the elder about what to do with some beast that killed some people. Engaging with them started the quest. That kind of stuff happened A lot. Cyberpunk has a couple quests like that but they are few and far between and often short. Most beefy quests and gigs are given through text or phone calls and it can seem more like "go here to this" rather than you naturally engaging with the world. It almost seemed like a small step backwards. But it didn't bother me that much. But I do understand the criticism. Hopefully in Orion they have a better mix. But I digress, Cyberpunk 2077 is probably my favorite game of this generation. I agree with everything you said about the depth of the world building and quality of the character moments. CDPR really brought Pondsmiths world to life.

  10. Dunno if it is possible, but look up my comments for this game dating years back. You'll find me defending CDPR and saying they WILL fix their mistakes and the game. I saw what few saw in the beginning, a diamond in the rough. I was one of the lucky few, obviously, having a good computer, and i never had more then a few visual bugs. I only fast traveled once, and regretted it instantly, wandering what i missed, if i hadn't. I was born and lived most of my life in Amsterdam, where it is almost the same thing. Walking trough NC aimlessly, just taking in the sights, looking at the people, listening to the sounds, and suddenly a man dropped on the street right in font of me. I looked up and saw only a tall building. Had he taken his own life, or was he shoved ?… i will never know, but t happens in real life, and it happens in this game. Details like that are rare in gaming, but CDPR thinks about them. I have seen a lot of game-play from others, always in a hurry, driving like maniacs, shoving everyone else aside. I stop for red lights, walking or driving, i never drive like a maniac, and never fast travel. and sometimes just walk for what seems like hours. And in my last play trough, i just finished, i looked into the eyes of Songbird, who had given up… i became angry, and had to save her, no matter what the cost. And last night, i had a dream about a traumatic experience i had in my youth, that had never dreamed of before, in all my 60 years after.. That's what this game does to me, and i love very second of it.

    If only EA had done the same with Mass Effect Andromeda… Ignore the copy-paste assholes that just hate, and never see…. just go listen to "the rose" of Bette Midler.. and you may understand…

  11. i always liked the montage and never wanted to "play" that time with Jackie. BUT just 2 or 3 more short missions with Jackie would have made a stronger connection to the character. we have "tutorial" fixer gig with him but it functions more as a general combat and stealth tutorial, you don't realize what a gig is until later. i'd have liked a "tutorial" cyberpsycho takedown with him, and an assault in progress to introduce the police scanner missions where Jackie mentions some are bigger and harder (organized crime). just those 2 short missions with Jackie would have made a big difference.

  12. Couldn’t agree more. I was in Absoulte disbelief in some parts at how engaged I was in the world. Haven’t felt that emotionally connected to a game in over a decade.

  14. I agree, I think they should take the night city they already have and just continue to flesh it out. With working transit systems, mega building internals, space station and moon etc.

  15. One thing I have to point out and that No one is talking about is the Foreign Languages , I mean the NPC's who talk in a Foreign language.. I speak Russian and I can't tell you how often I heard the most Cursed Russian Phrases in so many Games even from Big studios. Mainly because they Hire American Voice actors and give them a Script to read it in Russian but well obviously that isn't working out. In cyberpunk you can tell.those are actual Russians,Japanese, Chinese, Latinos.. etc. It's really really refreshing and soo good especially for the Immersion. Also they don't just speak Russian.. but they speak like Russian with the Slang and all.. man it's just awesome and I really have to praise CDPR for that.

  16. In RDR2, I was extremely emotionally invested in Arthur Morgan. I felt like I knew him by the end of the game. In CP2077, I felt that invested in nearly every character in the game. Like I knew them, and their stories were just as important as my own. No other game has made me care so much about that many characters. I played on PC 2 months after release and adored it. Because of a divorce I no longer have a good rig to play Phantom Liberty on, so I haven’t yet, but I know Night City is still there waiting for me and I genuinely look forward to visiting it again.

  17. I have 229 hours in cyberpunk. At least a 1/4 from before the PS5 version ever released, but I was lucky enough to be playing on the PS5 since its release. The only real issue I ever experienced, outside of crashes, was the save game bug released with Phantom Liberty. I lost my longest save of 90+ hours after finishing the special ending that it gives with Misty. It felt kind of meant to be, though, and I made a new character for another full a** playthrough. The game may have had some issues at launch, but the story, side missions, and game world have always delivered.

  18. Man I didn't even need to see all of the video to agree with you completely. I've loved this game even at the mess it was from launch. yeah, CDPR did fuck up, and drop the ball on some things. Hype was so far out of of this world it was never going to be matched. The investors need to learn to STFU, sit TF down, and let the developers do their jobs. They had let them go as long as they did, fuck another year of development wasn't going to kill the game. If anything it would of prevented the shit show that was the launch.

    But all that aside, the characters, the story, the side stories, the game play we were given, put all the demo aside. Was amazing. My greatest wish would of been for Jacky to of been a bigger part of the game, because that choom was amazing, and the way they put him into all of the life paths made sense. I'm glad 2.0 is turning people back onto this game, I just wish people had gotten out of their own way before hand and let themselves enjoy it all along. Again that does not excuse CDPR for all that they did wrong, but all that overshadowed what all they got right.
