  1. There was a whole Kotaku article about a guy who'd reviewed Cyberpunk saying part of the reason his first experience was mid is because he skipped all the side stuff, and that on the 2nd playthrough doing everything realized it's the side stuff that's the most enjoyable, interesting and rewarding…

If you're gonna spend 999+ hours scraping Elden Ring, and mod out Mass Effect to try and access every ability at once and do everything including reading all the codices, any excuses about "it'd take forever to beat" sound hollow.

  2. You're certainly going to want to do at least some of the gigs and side missions, if not only for the content but for the sheer fact that you're going to be broke as hell if you don't. I mean, there's also all these super sick iconic weapons. I totally get not going for the completionism run because the game is huge but it's an RPG. It wants you to do the side missions. You want to do the side missions. Do the side missions! Who told them not to do the side missions lol!?

  3. I get that there’s a bunch of content in this game but the side gigs are great and I really think those shouldn’t be skipped. The ncpd scanner hustles are just combat encounters though.

  4. Wait wym ? This isn't a fetch quest game. CDPR Side quests, especially in this game, are some of the best parts, especially in regards to writing.

Scanner missions? Sure you can skip em they mostly give xp, loot and some neat lore (though if you wanna level up and enjoy a lategame V they are needed).

gigs? Some are great some are typical (the DLC ones are a must do, non-negotiable).

but please do not skip side quests, i dare say any of them. This gonna be a 100+ hours let's play regardless. Might as well get the experience.

I thought this was gonna be my favourite let's play of the game cause of immersion and thorough attention of yall in the story. Not gonna mean much if you skip 80%+ of the game. Gonna have to skip this one in that case, let's hope you change your mind.

  5. Honestly this should just be a game to play for himself off-stream if he wants to soak in the atmosphere
If you dig the worldbuilding and look this much, why bother feeding it to the content machine at the cost of most of the game?

  6. for anyone who hasn't read the genre fiction, the Haitian machine loa is alive (?) and real in this setting. i dont know anything about this game in particular but hearing Saint-Domingue fills me with confidence.

  7. Some of the best content sits behind side quests, some of the best ways to get gear, money and EXP are all behind it…
I get it, but you're going to be missing what gives this game it's soul and it's depth. Especially for lorehounds like they are.
Hate to say it but you're going to have the most polarizing playthrough on your hands at this rate.

  8. Everytime CD Projekt Red releases a buggy mess (and yes, Witcher 3 was a mess when it was released) I still buy it on launch knowing that I'm paying for like years and years and years of free updates and little fun cosmetic things. Hell, Witcher 3 added like a weird new game plus mode with higher level gear and such. Poland may bring the jank, but they also bring the love.

  9. I think people are misremembering just how many gigs there are. There are about 80 not including Regina's cyberpsychos. They're amazing and fun, of course, like everything in Cyberpunk, but the big ticket missions are the sidequests and friend requests (like the Julie quests, River quests) are the real meat.

Doing friends quests are MANDATORY because they tie directly into the main story. I would tell them to do sidequests as well because the best content is there. Fixer gigs…they need to be sacrificed to preserve Woolie's sanity, lol.

  10. Another hat in the ring for not cutting side stuff aggressively.
I was hoping the people trying to massage the lp behind the scenes had a curated list of side stuff, but if that list is "nothing" this becomes a lot less interesting
