The GameSpot staff shares their unfiltered thoughts on CD Projekt Red’s latest RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has been out in the wild for a few months, the GameSpot team is ready to dig in and give our full impressions of everything the game has to offer. Cyberpunk represents a huge world that changes somewhat based on your path through it, and Kallie, Jake, and Lucy come together on this Spoilercast to discuss how they went through the game, what they found, and what their impressions were as they got lost in the world of Night City.

Check out the video above for the full discussion, but be warned that nothing is off-limits–including side-missions and endings. Kallie, Jake, and Lucy go through their favorite moments in the game, what they liked and disliked about the characters, and how each of the endings struck them based on the story they uncovered. They also talk about the ways their lifepath choices impacted the game–or didn’t.

  1. Cyberpunk 2077 touches upon a lot of controversial subjects form the late 80's of last century up to a couple of decades from now (doing the latter extraordinarily well prediction-wise IMO).
Under the obvious surface, it tries to make us ask ourselves some pretty heavy existential questions. Too bad many players are not willing to dive in and just glance over the narrative.

  2. It’s baffling to see people support her review. Guess it’s now okay if the reviewer says “ I didn’t play the game , I don’t know “ and gives a mediocre score. Gone are the days when the criticism was valid and pointed out clearly to give a low score.

PS – CYBERPUNK shouldn’t have launched in this incomplete state. But her review is equally incomplete.

  3. I’ll admit that when I first read Kallie’s review and heard her say that “the game had nothing to say”, I got defensive for CDPR and refused to believe it. However, after seeing all endings and 200+ hours, I agree with her 100 percent. Can someone here please tell me what Cyberpunk 2077 is about? You can’t, because it isn’t about anything. Saving yourself? How is that a message or theme? The Witcher 3 was about something. It was the story of a father and his love for his lost daughter and the desperation to find her. I love the characters in Cyberpunk 2077 but the entire game just feels so unfinished across the board.

  4. I'm going to be in the minority, but I love that the game just gives you questions.

There is a light that never gives out is one of the best side quests in any game ever. You've got a mass murder who needs to die, but wants to be crucified to give true believers something to feel closer to their good meanwhile being exploited by corporations for money.

I like how the mutilated mechanical monk feels like he has more to overcome now that through no desire of his own become less than human.

I love the stories of the cyberpsycos are largely tales off tragedy for any number of reasons.

I think the fact that the story of the game is quite simply save yourself is a stroke of brilliance. No saving the world, no fighting God, no hordes of demons. The story of a person who got both lucky and unlucky and is trying to navigate in a world much bigger than himself.

  5. "Voiced character", Seem Kallie didn't learn yet, these days, silent protagonists are shit! It is VERY stupid having a story all around the main character but they say nothing !🤬 FU Zelda is the perfect example!!! Link is not a character but a avatar, blank elf.
