  2. The performance loss is definitely not worth it for path tracing in my opinion. Maybe after a couple more generations of graphics cards. Nice comparison.

  3. This gen is like the Turing of Path Tracing. It runs reasonably well but nothing special.

Nowadays Turing gpus cant handle more than 720-960p internal resolution when running high RT workloads, it's required to tune the load down, for what the architecture can do.

Ada already needs sub 1080p resolutions and frame gen and bla bla bla to get decent framerates. And there're people telling me that this isnt meant for future hardware lmao.

  4. I recently upgraded to a 4090 and a 5800x3D and play on WQHD and DLSS quality mode. I have around 140 FPS constant with Pathed Raytracing (around 200 with normal Raytracing). It looks great, but there is a lot of flickering in the world in random spots, so I hope they will fix this soon.

  5. All that hype and it actually looks worse in many scenes. Tested it on my 3080FE and I prefer the standard RT mode or even the Raster mode for the framerate benefit.

  6. I’m playing on a 4090 and I am just blown away by the difference. It gives everything a depth that just wasn’t there before. It helps take a way a big chunk of that uncanny feeling that even the Psycho RT couldn’t do.

  7. Path tracing does look better than ray tracing, but it's not by a huge amount. Normal ray tracing does the bulk of photorealism over traditional rendering already, so path tracing is basically just there to clean up less polished areas. It doesn't seem worth the performance hit at all.

  8. All this much of raytracing is bullshit and I turn it off completely even with a RTX 4090! There's no sense for me to play with RT on and does affect the gameplay only in one way: bad.
It only slowes down the gameplay and while you're playing you won't see any difference when you haven't two displays comparing to each other. The whole thing with raytracing is just a big marketing hype to sell the overpriced RTX cards. Never again I will go again with this hype. I go back to AMD 🎉

  9. I ended up getting 63ish fps (rtx4080) with dlss3 quality /ultra/ high mix settings. I'm at 5120×1440 tho so not the full 4k… Graphics are insane… I get reflections of reflections while looking into water.
