Unfortunately if u want ray tracing go Nvidia but if ray tracing isn’t important, %100 go AMD. Believe tho, that over time AMD will catch up to Nvidia with Raytracing but they have a ways to go at the moment
Good video, your information was far more accurate.
literally just need to lower settings to medium, textures to as high as you can and ray tracing on high and the game looks just as good as ultra in that game, the ultra preset in that game is worthless
have you undervolted and raised power limit?
heyy man,, just wanted to mention to you that NVIDIA fans who say things like "NVIDIA is waaaay farther ahead in ray tracing" truly are just getting excited over graphics cards…they dont know what theyre talking about. AMD could match NVIDIA no problem with ray tracing…but their cards won't sell for the same price or more than NVIDIA. they just wont…so AMD just "don't"…you know? that's the sad truth of GPU companies…they are about 10 years ahead of what consumers see. so these people "talking", just remind them what i said here…10 year difference from what we know and they know. unless youre an actual engineer, then you can't say who's "ahead". not to mention, NVIDIA is leaving the GPU market in the next 5 years or so. so be ready to hand it to these NVIDIA fans that will HAVE to go either AMD or Intel…watch them go Intel XD.
also…there's different uses for ray tracing…like shadows, lighting reflections. its reflections and reflection lighting that AMD doesn't do well with. But lighting and shadows, like in Resident Evil, it does really well. especially for its price bracket.
I have this game on Xbox but I want to play it on PC but I don't want to buy it twice
you're definitely right though…these guys who make claims should really shut up and be enthusiasts…play with AMD cards…they're graphics cards…just like NVIDIA cards…they can be overclocked, many features…settings…be an enthusiast or shut up.
Ray tracing is cool…. To be honest when I play a game I don't look for it. When I fight a bad guy I don't notice if I can see his reflection in the window when I shoot him! During game play you don't care or notice Ray tracing.
Nvidia is better
Look like frog having second thoughts now 😂
Looks like cyberpunk exposed Amd 😂
Froggie with frame gen youd want to get it to the 60 mark then put it on..it wont feel great otherwise..ie 30fps feeling but it looking like 60fps.but i dont know if fsr3 will match latency because the tech isnt released yet.
If latency is like frame gen on nvidia I think this will be a very solid 1440p ultra rt experience at well over 60..which will be great 👍.
your fans can get as low as 20% on GPU? is there a Silent/OC bios on your XFX?
The modern day version of hanging from the back of the fender of the bus apologizing.
Next time and show us the ray tracing settings was it on epic, high, low? or maybe i missed it
I heard recently that cyberpunk uses the nvidia Cuda cores to increase the ray tracing performance. Now AMD has ROCm that could possibly do the same? The next cyberpunk update could "possibly" have a raytracing performance improvement 🤞
Neahh, with my RX 7900XT i get in Resident Evil 4,ultra settings and full raytracing, without FSR…got better framerate than older rtx 3080 10GB.
even if i had a 4090 still would not use ray tracing the game still looks great with out it
It depends on the game if its cars 60FPS is enough if its Cyberpunk/GTA 35~60FPS, if its online game 150~400FPS is a need.
People need to play the game and enyoy the story and a bit of picture, if you just run the game and look at FPS and AA sampling and so on and just benchmarking it well then you dont need a gpu lol

7900xtx 7FPS in 4K Path Tracing + FSR3 UQ = 21FPS?? 950~1050$
4090 20FPS in 4K Path Tracing + DLSS3 UQ = 60FPS 1550~1650$
4080 15FPS in 4K Path Tracing + DLSS3 UQ = 40FPS 1100~1150$
7900xtx 7FPS in 4K Path Tracing + FSR3 UQ = 21FPS?? 950~1050$
4070 7FPS in 4K Path Tracing + DLSS3 UQ = 20FPS new 599$
3090ti 10FPS in 4K Path Tracing + DLSS2 UQ = 20FPS used 850~950$ If FSR3 works = 30FPS
3090 8FPS in 4K Path Tracing used + DLSS2 UQ= 16FPS 650~750$ If FSR3 works = 24FPS
7900xt 5FPS?? in 4K Path Tracing + FSR3 UQ = 15FPS new 750$
So if you play Cyberpunk at 4K + Path Tracing only 2 gpus 4080 40FPS and 4090 60FPS rest of them dont even hit 24-30FPS that is eye speed/movie frame.
Alternative 3090 24FPS/3090ti 30FPS if FSR3 will be supported on them and it might not bring equal boost maybe a bit less cuz its less TFlops and so on.
Best gen to gen is 7900gre but you cannot buy it in a box its like 6900xt/6950xt but at 260w and better RT + AI at 650$
‘I’ll stop banging on about this”
no, no you won’t
Can Nvidia cards like the 4090 do RT and have the same rich color palate that your 7900XT has? If you have great RT but the graphics are washed out that doesn't sound too premium.
I have a 6700xt and I know it's not a good rt card. But when I play with settings and get rt going I find it's kind of meh. I only say this because when an intense battle is happening, you're not being awed by the graphics because you're too busy trying to whoop some ass. If there was a way to have rt going in certain scenes specifically would be perfect.
I played the game initially on an Xbox One x so my PC is a way better experience
I haven't modded my game yet and I was wondering if there are mods out there that would improve the RT quality on the 6700xt?
Also, I prefer xess over fsr. I could be wrong but that's just what I've seen to do better for me.
System:
5600g.. very close to ordering a 5600x with current pricing.

Really like this type of videos. Extremely chill talk while walking the cyberpunk city.
You talk about the guys from Digital Foundry like they make the engineering/design decisions that go into this tech. That is just not the case…
they are simply laying out the facts as they are and offering their educated opinions and commentary. In the DF clip vid you are referring to they describe the benefits of AMD as well, along with where they fall short and where AMD is actually in the lead.
Also, I seem to remember a vid of yours where you said something to the effect of "why would I benchmark CP77, that is an old game with old graphics" So what changed???
To be fair to Digital Foundry here's a direct quote from Richard on the video "Radeon RX 7900 XTX/ RX 7900 XT vs RTX 4080 Review: Can AMD Bring The Value?", "Ray tracing first, the traditional achilles heel for AMD and clearly a weakness of RDNA3 against the competition. Gen on gen, though, AMD promised a strong uplift in performance and that's exactly what you get. I think RT on RDNA3 is pretty good, actually."
It's a sensible take — you can now keep RT on with AMD cards but it's still lacking in heavy workloads. In this video you dropped to 1440p XeSS performance (1280×720) to get just over 60fps at RT Ultra. It's worse than your 3080 was. I remember playing at 1440p DLSS quality mode (1706×960) at 60fps without an issue with my 3080. I actually played with psycho RT because the bump in image quality was worth it to me and performance was still fine.
As for Cyberpunk Overdrive mode at 1440p balanced you get 23fps on a 7900XT vs 46fps on the 4070 or 59fps on the 4070ti. That's a 100% increase for the 4070 which is a cheaper card or 156.6% faster on the Ti model and that's without frame generation.
The reality is that as of right now there isn't many games looking to push these cutting edge RT lighting effects. Only the upper mid range and beyond on Ada have a chance of using it so it's more a glimpse into the future. When the PS6 drops in 5 years or whatever I think path tracing will be a much more viable technology for gaming in general.
It's not FOMO. Nvidia has proven they actually improve through software. Makes me seem like a Nvidia fan boy but I have to own up. I made fun of the 20 series and the start of the 30 series card. Calling DLSS and RT as gimmicks. But it's leagues different current DLSS vs DLSS 1.0. Same with Frame gen with DLSS 3.0. Ghosting, flickers, and latency was bad at frame gen launch. Also I use Blender and some AI. Nvidia reflex is ignored in the discussion.
Lastly no one talks about this but the encoder on Lovelace is insane. It beats every capture card I found. A stable 180 fps 4k recording with no performance loss is huge. 120 fps at 1440p on a 3090 was a struggle. Seriously why is no one talking about how good the capture is on Nvidia and it captures well past 600 fps at 1080p. I bought a 4090 because of all of the above.
Ray tracing will be good in the future, like in 4 or 5 years. For today's games its not worth it. You lose lots of fps anyway.
