  1. Why are first person games cursed to not have dialogue options that actually matter? The closest we got was New Vegas and so far that bar has never been broken in the RPG department.

  2. Played it on PC over Christmas, not 100% but made it to the end with no quests left to do and I agree with your review in every way. For players who like the genre they should definitely have a look at it. For players who look for a well polished experience…better wait…but waiting is worth it, because the way the story is being told…it makes you feel emotions. Happy to play it again after the first dlcs come out

  3. I think most people that are shitting on this game are those who have been hyping up or at least consistently paying attention to the potential this game's marketing campaign promises, which is somewhat understandable but inherently stupid. I actually shunned this game ever since my youtube recommendation section was forcibly taken over by hyping videos from thousands of youtubers, and ironically thanks to them I had a very low expectation for and very few ideas of what the game is set out to be.
Therefore when I decided to purchase the game at a substantial discount(thanks to review bombs) and give it a try I was gradually taken away by how immersive and grandiose this open world is and how smoothly the diversed combat add in to this whole fantastic experience.

  4. One thing you didn't mention at all is the forced cutscene sequences. Like all the Silverhand stuff – you have to do it, even though it doesn't effect anything. I love playing different builds so I restartet the game several times. I would love to play a few more different approaches, but I just can't play those hours of forced, unskippable scenes one more time. It's so awful. I'm nit sure I'd give it another try if a DLC comes out and they didn't make this skippable. I do fully agree with the rest of your review.

Btw. you mention how fun the combat is. With some hacker builds you get so good that you don't ever get any combat anymore … you kill all the enemies before entering the site. And then you just walk through the empy compex and pick up the loot. At that point the game lost all it's appeal 🙁

  5. "You are V. This is V's story, and V's story is going to play out the way it's going to play out." Aside from the RPG elements in defining how V plays the story, this is basically an action-adventure game, not the traditional RPG that was expected. PS – I found your channel today and love the approach to 100% and then review. It makes a better-informed, weighty insight into the game as a whole, rather than a superficial "get the review out the door asap".

  6. Did you get the secret ending where you go assault Arasaka alone? That is only available if you choose right dialogue options when talking to Johnny at his gravesite. That in my opinion is the best ending, it also best done on the hardest difficulty, because you're assaulting completely alone against Arasaka and you can't save during the assault. There's only like 1 or 2 checkpoints. And if you die, it's an ending too. People are mourning over your death.

It's close to the ending where you go with Johnny and Rogue, but no one of your friends die.

  7. While I can understand some people being bothered, a buggy release isn't a deterrent for me. I enjoyed the game and will enjoy it again when the DLC drops, knowing that even more bugs will be worked out.

  8. While i'm truly sorry for console gamers and the state of the game it was at the start (frankly it still lacks of many promised features), i'm not mad or ashemed of the fact that bought this game on the realese date. Even with all bugs and 20-30 fps on my notebook I've realy enjoyed the story and the world. Since the days of Morrowind this is the second game that fully emerged me into the setting and world. I've literally lived in the Night City, and i'm talking about "hardcore roleplaying" here: eating, drinking, just casualy walking at streets, exploring districts, coming back to sleep in my apartments or at Judy's sofa at late nights or early morning after the gigs. Shit, sometimes I refer about some ingame moments with the same feeling of nastalgia like some real life moments.

  9. I really like Cyberpunk 2077. I think a lot of people had very unrealistic expectations for it. I highly appreciate the build diversity.

I felt like there were substantial differences in the playthroughs with different life paths. People respond very differently to you, depending on what life path you started with, and the end game options try to shove you in a certain direction based on that.

As to the quest quality… they wanted there to be a TON of them, and there are. There are interesting cars, weapons, and cyberware. Some of the stories you find on people's computers are really interesting. Not every day is an exciting or great one… but there are plenty of them. Learning how some of the gangs operate, who their leaders are, what corporations they work with, what research and products corporations make… I found to be very interesting.

The NPCs? Some of the best I have ever seen. Very believable and relatable. You can see the humanity in all of them, the question is whether you agree with what they are doing or not. Some of the cut scenes are absolutely incredible. Playing guitar around a campfire with my group of nomads? Awesome. Some of the "bro" moments were great (with a number of characters). The voice acting and animations are incredible.

I hope they make follow-on games. The universe is cool and interesting and has tons of potential. Only serious Cyberpunk game out there.

  10. This game just needed more time. It really was released too early & your complaints showcases this.
I'm sure the developers had to abandon half of what they were initially working on, and concentrate on pushing what they had for release.
They really should've kept their mouths shut for another year (without making that release date).

  11. Dunno. It’s honestly one of my favorite games but you can tell that it’s not finished. It’s a good game but had potential to be one of the greatest if they had finished it instead of rushing the release.

  12. You know, it would be ok if the game is SHORT. Because they not want players have to play a long time to finish it. BUT… that does not mean it has to be LINEAR. They could have added allot possibilities to change what route you play it. If there where like 10 different routes to beat, with additional optional things… it would be ok if the game is short.

  13. This was not my type of game in terms of theme, gameplay and story. I was disappointed by its poor launch on PS4 and the damage done to CD Projekt Red's reputation maybe a problem for them in the future. Could an early access have helped it's development like Baldur's Gate 3? I do not see a follow up to this game happening in the future.

  14. I have no idea what happened in the development and story department of this game. Witcher 3 to me, is still the best game ever. Even the bad repeat design, was so minor, because the story was so good. Not just the main, all the stories, most side quests and both DLC. This game, I don't even like the story.

  15. i completely agree to this review. I refuse to play it even after 1.5 and 1.6 patch, which brought so little value to replay the game again. Until (if) they drop NG+ then i gonna replay it if not, i just gonna cheat my way to skill points and money, i am refusing to grind all of that again, especially because game is devoid of any interesting major side missions, except those mentioned hack/kill/steal and psychos which were ok, plus they put almost entire LORE into the shards which is also negative from me.

  16. Doubt you'll see this, but i just found your channel and have started going back through your older reviews. You've grown so much as a reviewer, not that old ones are bad, you've just improved a lot.

You're now one of my favorite reviewers!

  17. I recently 100%ed it with patch 1.6. Fantastic game; it's a cinematic story told well with a deep world and enjoyable gameplay. Sure, it's linear, but as someone who doesn't like CRPGs (except KotOR) that's not an issue.

  18. I feel like less choices in this type of game is a given where everything requires having reactive dialogues and animation. CRPG's in comparison are more text based. Now I'm someone who didn't follow any of the marketing so I had a blast with the game but I understand they lied/misled about a lot of things.

  19. I do have to say, that the suicide ending after you've followed all "romance" quest lines, regardless of who you ended up romancing, is pretty rough. I cried as each character expressed their "final thoughts" about V. Especially Panam and Takemura. Having felt each of these emotions myself after the suicide of a friend made it all the more emotional. Even though the game itself was flawed, the story telling within the game was some of the best I've ever experienced.

  20. I HATED the pacing. The main story tries to push you into a hurry, but if you hurry accordingly to the narrative you miss so much of the side content.
I HATED the quest design. The whole game had one, ONE mission with divergent mission paths.
I HATED the looter shooter aspect of the game. Why have some parts of the city weapons of level 1 and on the other side of the river level 50?

It may be a decent looter shooter and a terrible RPG. It might be my last CDPR game.
