  1. It's really not noticeable when you're just buzzing around playing the game, certainly not to the extent that it justifies losing 30 frames a second. Weird choice to not do some kind of performance RT like in Ratchet and Clank, and Miles Morales – both newer consoles can absolutely handle it. Perhaps it would've taken too much more work on CDPRs part to have properly ray traced reflections and global illumination. Either way the RT mode on consoles is practically useless.

  2. The consoles are running ray traced shadows only, but it really helps ground a lot of the tiny details and models up close. Not something you’d notice driving in the open world, but on foot and indoors it seems very noticeable. Up to you if you’re willing to sacrifice shadow quality for 60 fps. I personally would have rather seen ray traced reflections because it adds more in my opinion, maybe we’ll see RT reflections in a future update on consoles.

  3. Ray tracing reflections make the biggest difference in this game, followed by global illumination. RT shadows are useless. Just stay with the performance mode

  4. so they added raytracing for shadows but not reflections? lol on pc i dont even run shadows, it makes no sense to run that , if im gonna give up frames i just go for reflections, thats the whole point of ray tracing

  5. Until Digital Foundy releases their comparison, this is best video I've seen on YouTube that showcases the differences nicely. Most videos are focused on the wrong scenarios (lanscapes, chatacter models etc) where the RT local light shadows aren't there or visible. Great job finding details where you can spot the differences. Thank you!

  6. This video is the best out there I've seen comparing the difference. I'm getting back into the game after the update and I'm looking for people's take which mode to play in. I've just played in both before coming here and I gotta say, I do like the RT mode alot visually. And I also like the 60FPS alot too. I'm conflicted because I just feel like RT mode didn't go all out to make a huge difference. The only stupid thing is if you play in RT mode then switch to performance, you can clearly tell the difference in lighting making RT better. However the 60FPS crowd would argue otherwise.

  7. I am playing it with Ray tracing on since now it feels like a new experience but if I am tired of the 30fps ill go back to Performance mode but on the characters the details look even better with RT on

  8. Finally someone who actually knows what the changes are for the next gen version. It's pretty lackluster for the cost but it's still a step in the right direction. To be fair, I think the game looks tremendous in every other facet because the developers did a bang job doing the rasterized lighting. If they add raytraced sun shadows and reflections I think it'd be more than adequate.

  9. Great comparison, I know 60 fps would provide the best gameplay experience but Ray tracing provides gameplay plus great visuals, I saw the game with all its flaws initially and did not buy it, but now I might give it a chance.
