Itโ€™s time to make my choice, Reed or Songbird, one of themโ€™s about to be extremely unhappy. Frankly, Iโ€™m a lot more scared of a pissed-off Songbird.

  1. Well that was a surprise. Now I chose to save So Mi too (at least initially), not because I didn't trust Reed but because I didn't trust President Myers with a Blackwall weaponised Netrunner. Also I really didn't trust that wonder hacker the FIA boffins cooked up – which on my second playthrough proved to be the right choice. (Alex noooo! I really hated Reed for his complete faith in that FIA hacking tech.)

I can't believe you ……. up dealing with Bennet quietly in the car. I have never had to fight him or have to kill Jago's bodyguard (I even just scared away the VDBs without having to draw my weapon). Aguiler is all image and you can cower anyone by a soft word and gesture. Subtle threats is all you need.

Oh be warned the new update has nerfed Sonic Shock. Only it is untraceable. Any following uploads will initiate a trace regardless.

  2. For the Run This Town, if you intimidate Bennett at the funeral, you will get the best possible ending for hands. If you have met with Bennett before that it does not matter, the only difference will be that if u haven't met him before he will be somewhat of a double puppet, to Hands and Arasaka.
In my playthrough made the same choices, only at the funnerel you need to pick the 3rd option, Show your gun or something like that and you will say something like "You will plundge Dogtown into chaos." to Bennett, basically if he kills Jago, you kill him.

  3. you know, a brainy leader can think that after he's gone, fuck the rest, give them the worst so he can have the last laugh, in that case, what's more funny than having an idiot replacing him?

  4. 38:09 you could actually pick the other option Jingles, I missed this first time around too. Turns out "Jago not a problem" means Jago not challenging the throne, it doesn't mean you'll have to kill Jago for Bennett.
42:34 showing your weapon is the play to get the kids to stop bickering

  5. At least in my run I think Reed never said that they would only kidnap the netrunners. IIRC it was V (i.e. you) who said it by jumping into that conclusion. Sure they never contradicted it but neither did they verify it.

  6. The quest Run this Town ended different for me.
I scared the voodoo boys away, met with Bennet in the city center, made him forget about Arasaka,
and at the funeral i kept Jago and Bennet alive. Jago also gave Bennet his contacts.
Mr Hands was very happy with the outcome.

  7. I am surprised that you went with Songbird for your first ending despite how much you seemed to be backing Reed up to this point. You'll be getting the same ending I did unless you make a different choice right at the end. I'm hoping you're not going to get cold feet and hand the NUSA the potential ability to destroy civilisation.
I've got some time off over Christmas so maybe I'll try and bang out another playthrough before you start posting the alternate endings.

  8. Jingles, you can easily resolve the Quest peacefully. All you need to do is to talk to bennet and not be confrontational, instead you tell him you have his back, at the funeral you can then threaten both to work together, or else. If you didnt piss of bennet and jago agreed to step down you can force bennet to be a good little doggie

  9. Oh boy, lot to unpack here.
Firstly, on the main storyline, while in principle I think you made the right call as V the character (more on that in a second), I fully expect this whole decision to go south almost instantly. You've been right about two things so far: Reed's no fool, and we can't trust Songbird as far as we can throw her. Either she takes her supposed opening and jets leaving V holding the bag, or Reed ices her before she gets the chance.

Regarding Reed though, you're also right about his perspective on telling the truth; he'll tell you what does no harm, but deflect when it would. But I think we've been forgetting one crucial detail: Reed's a SPY. Spies are paid to lie, it's their job, it's their life. Therefore, we can't tell for absolute certain what all of what Reed has told us has been true. Hell, he's left us out in the cold for days while he made "preparations" on his own (I'd be interested to see what the devs might have thought of if you decided to stick to Reed like glue during those "Wait X days" phases). Reed tipped his hand with the French netrunners and in so doing shattered the already tenuous trust we had in him. If that was a lie, everything could be too.

In the end though, in character terms, the decision all comes down to one thing: Songbird has something V wants, and Reed doesn't. As far as motivations go, V's got no loyalty to the NUSA or Myers or Reed. But Songbird claims to have a cure for V's relic chip problem (which already looks like not quite the quick fix expected and still may turn out to be bullshit, or else the main storyline will get a brand new ending. That, or this whole DLC will have been a massive waste of time, which feels unlikely). Reed has just been a means to an end, always was. And if he's willing to cut loose ends, then so are you.

As for the side story about Hansen's successor, honestly I have to disagree with Jingles here. Bennett is no puppet; he's a thug and a bully, a drooling moron who does what he wants and can't be controlled. If he could, it would have been easy for Aguilar to simply tell him how things were going to be: He'd be the face and the brawn, Jago would be the brain. But Bennett didn't go for that, and I don't think he ever would, because he's exactly the sort of "might makes right" jarhead idiot who listens to nobody but himself and anyone stronger than him, i.e. Hansen. To my mind, Jago is clearly the better candidate to be Dogtown's leader. She may be an accountant, but she's got a brain. With just a little time to get up to speed she could be a regular Moriarty, easily outsmarting her foes and manipulating Dogtown to her will. But she also strikes me as the sort of person who would see Mr. Hands as a valuable ally, a fixer who knows what goes down and is eager to see things go their way. And with the shadowy threat of "Aguilar" at Hands' beckon call she would be unlikely to turn against him. To anyone familiar with the anime series "Black Lagoon", Jago reminds me a bit of Rock; unassuming to look at, useless in a fight, but by the end thinking things out five steps ahead of everyone else with horrifying accuracy, able to do more damage with a word than with a thousand guns.

I will agree on one thing though: How Bennett got to be Hansen's right hand is beyond me. A bodyguard or enforcer, sure. But if this was the quality of Hansen's upper echelons of leadership, then Dogtown was in deep trouble long before Hansen's death.

  10. You're cooking up a fine kettle of pooh stew there. The feast is set, the guests are assembled.
Songbird is falling apart in front of you and has little time left. The president has been playing you all along. Reed wants your scalp. Johnny is as helpful as he ever is, with a different perspective, if nothing else. Lt Colonel Bennett is on a short leash. The Voodoo boys are no longer a factor.
At least Mr Hands is still an ally.
Good luck finding your way out and finding a fix for your implant situation.
Now on to the important business. My overlord told me to ask you to supply the furry Mistresses of your household with copious treats and such scritches as they will tolerate. You and Rita have great days too.

  11. I went down the other path (Reid). I know you'll be going back to do it, pretty intense. Also they opened the space port! I tried to get there before the expansion and couldn't. So it probably will lead to a future expansion.

  12. I think you made the wrong choice on who to betray. Betraying Songbird leads to a far more interesting storyline, and imo, the best overall ending. Songbird ends up with the best ending for her, Alex ends up with the worst, and Reed, Reed finally realizes how he's been toyed with.

You find out just how bad Songbird is off, those red eyes are there for a very big reason.

  13. Commenting now before finishing. I followed Songbird and didn't sabotage her with a virus. On my first playthrough. So I am interested to see where Jingles went.

I got a different result. Than that for Bennet and Jago. Where they both of leaders of Dogtown.

  14. A good son gives his father what he needs not what he wants, you can have Jago run dogtown with Bennet as Jago's second which is best in multiple ways 1. Jago is not easily fooled by outside forces, 2. With Bennet as second he can control the Barghest soldiers easier and 3. Jago will work with Hands actively seeking a meeting to discuss the future which makes hands very very happy !

  15. 44:50 uhhh … Next time you're at the Tank museum and the tanks are actually moving around, I'd check that none of the drivers is a retired Sergeant Major …. Just saying, that wasn't exactly complimenting the worlds Sergeant Majors.

  16. Was a bit surprised Jingles took this path first, but then, siding with Reed gives you probably one of the hardest stealth missions in the game. Can't wait to see him try at it ๐Ÿ˜€

And no, Mr. Hands callign you right after Reed called you is a pure coinkydink due to the time warp shenanigans that happened during Judy's mission.

Also, talking to Bennet does not cut off the best possible outcome. You can still set things straight at the funeral and just get a small slap on the wrist from Hands for disobeying his order (where he tells you to leave the sleeping dogs lie if you call him after talking to Jago). The option with the gun does that when Bennet requires all of Jago's contacts. And it's the same outcome regardless of whether you talked to Bennet or not.
