  1. Medium settings are way more useful test than ultra. Ultra is just stupid and exists only to sell more GPUs, and especially when games are so heavy like this, more fps than you get on ultra is needed.

  2. I wish that DLSS 3.5 could be enabled without also turning on path tracing. Just heard on the Digital Foundry 130 podcast that CDPR is working on that.
I was thinking about running the game at 4k on my RTX 3080 10GB, but it looks like I will have a better experience at 1440p.
    Thank you for the video!

  3. Having watched numerous of your GPU benchmark vids, I see a trend, not 100% but near enough. In your results 4K gaming just isn't feasible unless you have a flagship GPU and even then you're not certain even that will handle it. So why would you put out soooo much cash for a system with a top end card and then spend $1000 or $1500 on a 4K monitor and only be able to watch media. I will admit I did pay over $1000 on the wife's monitor 🙂 though it's a 65" 4k Samsung TV, not OLED. 4K gaming right now is just too close to the sun Icarus.

  4. although they keep saying don't use DLSS at 1080p meanwhile I play at 1080p on a 55 in TV everything maxed including rt and path tracing with DLSS quality on and it's an amazing experience…I'm convinced these people are hardware nerds not gamers

  5. FSR and XeSS definitely seem to be underperforming on my 7800 xt in this game as well. FSR quality provides a decent uplift, not that I would use anything lower. XeSS ultra quality lowers my FPS, and quality renders at about native frame rate.

  6. On my 300-12gb at 1440p, using the tweaked ini files on nexus mods that lowers the number of ray bounces from 2 to 1, using DLSS 3.5 + ray reconstruction, and DLSS Q i can get 53 on the in game benchmark, and it looks really good. Lows are around 45, highs 63.

  7. Didnt start the game yet but in the benchmark on my overclocked 6800(2550mhz, 2150mhz memory) on ultra native gets 82fps on the in game benchmark, 98 with fsr quality, pretty good so far I'll see tomorrow in actual gameplay

  8. This video makes me feel a little bit better with the gpu choice I ultimately settled on, which was a 4070 ti, mind you on labor day weekend I just upgraded my roughly 12 year old PC that has a i7-980 with a gtx 780 ti 3GB.

I was eyeing that 4080, but $300-$400 extra (especially when the $809 for the 4070 ti was already hard to swallow) was too difficult to justify. Of course in a world where nvidia weren't pricing savages, the 4080 would at most be a $800 card, if not still much lower.

  9. 3090 here. Path Tracing with Ray Reconstruction doesn't look good. In still images, maybe, but for anything moving, it looks horrendous. All vehicle tyres have an awful black smear line coming from them as though you are playing on the world's worst VA black smearing panel. All NPC have this terrible multilayer ghosting smear on any part of them that moves. It's super ugly and distracting. In fact, the whole world has this sort of slow catch-up smear on it. For decent frame rates you are forced to use DLSS of course but the auto recommended setting is Performance and it makes the whole game look even more smeared, anything at even a moderate distance is blurry and that is using 4k as the starting resolution. Any DLSS higher results in unplayable frame rates. The same is true for just the standard Ray Tracing settings. DLSS Performance is ugly. It looks like 720p on a 1080p screen. If you want a decent frame rate, you have to start turning things off, which negates the point of even having Ray Tracing on. Maybe if you just turn on Reflections, you can have some pretty puddles, but in all honesty, a higher refresh rate looks better, so Ultra/High with Ray Tracing off and DLSS Quality seems it for me which makes the whole RTX thing sorta pointless.

  10. Top tip for 1080p & 1440p gamers – use a combination of DLSS and VSR to upscale to a higher resolution than your monitor. It works incredibly well, yielding improved image clarity AND better performance.

  11. has anyone else noticed that PowerColor 7800 gpu's suddenly disapeared pretty much everywhere as far as I can tell?
Newegg no longer lists them. they have powercolor 7700 and 7900 gpu's but zero 7800's. walmart is the same. does anyone know why thats happening?

  12. I'd be interested to see how cyberpunk 2077 with the newest update scales with 8 cores vs 6 cores since the devs said with the 2.0 update expect 8 core CPUs to have 90 percent utilization.
