Cyberpunk 2077 – Patch 2.0 RAY RECONSTRUCTION Comparison | DLSS 3.5 | RTX 4090 Overdrive

The wait is over, CD projekt red has released Patch 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077! This patch adds a ton of new features, but the one I’m most excited for is Ray Reconstruction! Subscribe for more!

Cyberpunk 2077 has been pushing the limits of graphical fidelity since they introduced ray tracing overdrive. It’s a completely new lighting engine but it wasn’t without it’s flaws. It had a hard time keeping up with fast lights and would blur certain textures. That’s where ray reconstruction comes in. Simply put, it makes ray tracing look much better and will actually give you a higher frame rate. Path tracing usually uses a denoiser where this is full on ray reconstruction.

This video will show you the difference between ultra settings, with screen space reflections set to psycho, then ray tracing set to psycho, then ray tracing overdrive and finally adding ray reconstruction. pay attention to the frame rate between clips! Head to the end of the video if you want to see the exact settings I used.

Is this the best looking game out there? Are you going to play #cyberpunk2077 patch 2 and/or #phantomliberty??

  1. good showcase. actuaily the non raytraced (rasterized) version doesn´t look THAT much of a difference compared to raytracing any more. team did a great job enhancing it. path tracing looks different but not always great tbh. did u had ghosting effects in path tracing + ray reconnstruction while moving and playing? – i noticed big ghosting on computer screens.

  2. Static scenes do look great, but there are some huge ghosting issues, I had a cop follow me into tall grass and all I could see was a smudge, no more cop. There's also other visual issues, puddles of shimmer and grain that shouldn't be there at all, a lot of noise and artifacts inside buildings etc. It's all way too distracting for me to enjoy now, but it's a brand new tech, DLSS also improved incredibly, I'm sure RR will too, as an early demo it's an amazing technology. And other than graphics, the update is amazing, cops are great now, traffic seems vastly improved, more realistic, vehicle combat is awesome. Imagine how loved the game would be if it released in it's current state back in 2020, I hope phantom liberty is a huge success and CDPR decides to release more content after PL.

  3. Played a few hours yesterday and wow ray reconstruction looks good. It's not flawless but it cleans up a lot of the issues the original path tracing mode had. Fences looked awful without RR for the overdrive mode. Also for the first time ever I don't hate the post processing while using upscaling in this game. It actually looks coherent now instead of a mess. Motion blur is OK on low and film grain I could take it or leaving depending on the scene but they definitely did something different to tweak that pipeline.

  4. I believe that the various versions of Raytracing make games look different, but not necessarily more beautiful.
Nvidia's entire marketing strategy is based on their latest technologies, but I'm not convinced that it's worth paying a premium for a high-end RTX 4000 for such marginal improvements.

  5. When path tracing came to cyberpunk I thought thats the best graphics possible for the game, but now nvidia comes in with ray reconstruction which not only makes it look even better BUT it also boosts fps?? What kind of magic is nvidia using here,. This is the first time I see a technology that improves visuals as well as boosts fps, almost seems like cheating.
