Cyberpunk 2077’s 1.6 ‘Edgerunner’ update landed this week, adding a bunch of content changes and a couple of interesting features that caught our eye. For starters, Xbox Series S received a 60fps performance mode to bring it into line with Series X and PlayStation 5 (albeit at a lower resolution, of course) while the higher-power consoles benefit from input lag optimisations in the previously sluggish ray tracing modes. So how closely does Series S stick to 60fps and what’s the cost in resolution terms? And just how much more responsive is the RT mode now? Tom has this report.

Good that they are still patching what is one of modern gaming's biggest disappointments. Maybe in a couple more years and especially on PC given moddig tools it'll finally be in a state it should been at launch… The talent behind Witcher 3 left and created a new Studio and CD Projekt Red is still not proven after the lies publicly and ignoring the previous devs that made them famous…
Still no news on a NG+ which has been a standard for many titles since Chrono Trigger on Super Nintendo. Witcher 3 even having one for CD Projekt Red. Only reason I can see still not having is just how terrible the custom engine is to develop for… Similar in a different older title like Dragon Age Inquisition that had a FPS designed engine used for a massive RPG… That game never got a proper NG+ and just what is some odd in-between.
If they figure how to add NG+ and continue fixing bugs. Maybe in a year or so I'll finally give it a go. Not even remotely excited for the upgraded Witcher 3 content as I'm half expecting a botch job… imagine a Reforged scenario 🤢🤮
OK, I love you guys and you do great work, so please don't take this as mean but:
Stop saying 'locked 60' when it isn't locked. Something can't be 'mostly locked 60' its just not a locked 60. Locked is locked, it doesn't deviate. ITS NOT LOCKED IF IT DOESN'T HOLD, SOMETHING CAN'T BE 'MOSTLY LOCKED'. Please, for the love of whatever holy, stop saying that. It's totally a pet peeve and meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but it annoys the crap out of me.
No joke, if you haven’t played this game yet you are missing out. Played through it 2x, and one of those times with mods. Game is incredibly.
oft not a good trade off lower everything and a 900p for 60fps XSS is showing its not worth the money
NPCs are not that much a CPU bottleneck in Cyberpunk, not on modern CPUs. The GPU easily gets bogged down with the amount of geometry and matrix math.
I know it's a lot of work but I feel input latency tests should be more common in DF videos because I feel that it's an underlooked part of the technology for a game.
Just for the extra nerdiness, 50 (assuming uncorrelated) samples seems fine to do a decent block average and error bar calculation
Is my series S broken then because it doesn't run smoothly for me very choppy and dipping below 50 frequently?
Please do a revisit to MSFS2020 with all of the available World Updates installed. The performance tends to take a big hit. I would love to see what you guys make of it
Does anyone know if the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk can be played on Series X with all the performance upgrades? I bought this game at launch but stopped playing after a few hours due to how buggy it was. I was going to wait to play it on Series X but didn’t want to spend the extra money on the Series X version.

Here for the Tom, y'all
Wow they did it! Thats amazing!
Xbox Series S ever dropping to anything below 1080p is just a sad state of affairs 2 years in. 800 is just un acceptable unless its on a handheld
can you do a df retro about XIII
they should be launching the game now, in 2022
not 2020…
…when a PATCH barely fits on a DVD… I'm old.
Series Shlt.
Please could you do an analysis video about the pc version?
When your former one was made, some settings were not working properly, furthermore CDPR improved a lot ray tracing with their last update. I personnally think that this deserves a new full ray tracing analysis.
Incredible work from the CDPR crew in making this possible for the Series S folks out there.
edit: I wonder if there's enough performance headroom for an unlocked VRR performance mode for PS5 and Series X.
2 year old game, why are they still patching this crap
RT mode latency is still a bummer. I'd argue it was unplayable before patch, will have to try the patch I guess.
A solid contender for best game of 2023.
Doesn't the xbox upscale the image to 4k anyway? I think that makes the 60 fps mode much more appealing. Can someone correct me?
i really enjoyed this game at release apart from the mess it was in, now its all fixed i cant be bothered to go back and play it lol, why does it take 2 years to finally fix a game at this point no one cares about said game and has moved on.
i finally consider buying this on the next sale
I must say with 1.5 it was smooth like butter on the PS5 but now with 1.6 it heavily drops frames and screen tearing makes it even worse (didn't had any with 1.5)
The fact that you guys think that waiting years for an update that should have been in the base game since the beginning it's okay is astonishing
i guess cdpr is slowly getting the game to at least a point where its fairly reliabley decent.
It's a shame they could not do a Ray traced performance mode like on next gen GTA 5
I swear when I switch from performance mode to Ray trace mode I struggle to see the difference on series x . I don't get what all the hype about Ray tracing iss for ,but then I suppose its different on different games obviously
PC HDR still broken…
Series S never fails to amaze me.
Can you guys do a video on the Sony Inzone M9 please
