Cyberpunk 2077’s new 1.2 patch may be massive in size, but with 98% bug fixes and 2% quality of life issues, there’s not much for veteran players to return to, nor does this seem like the ideal jumping off point for new players.

  1. This game needs 2 years. The first year will be putting band aids on this game and maybe prepping the next gen release. The second year will be adding in cut content (I assume for free). After that I think the game will be in a state worth playing. Thanks for the vid Paul!

  2. Well it did put an end to a multitude of exploits. Space Oddity is a great example, no longer can you get the painting, dupe it, and then proceed to become a multimillionaire without a bother.

  3. Free "DLC" is just the devs finally being allowed to finish the game by management. I don't regret my purchase but it's disappointing that in the end the game technically still got delayed, we all just bought it during early beta.

  4. I understand that they need the game to work before they start adding or changing current systems but from what I can tell at least half of the skills still do nothing or don't do what they are supposed to do.

  5. How long did it take you to clear the map ? I think it took around 70hrs on my first play through to do absolutely everything. Mr Tassi claims to have done this in 40 hours. I guess it's possible….?

  6. I played trough it once at launch. 150+ hour run. Did all the endings I could with this first character.

The main story, it’s characters, and the gameplay are great. The thing that is the most disappointing is the city itself. It looks absolutely fantastic, but that’s it. The pedestrians are mindless, there are empty vendor stalls everywhere and the ones that have people behind the counter do nothing, I see a strange looking NPC and turn a corner 2 seconds later and see the exact same NPC, there are literally random unfinished/unused objects on roofs, working doors for metro stations that lead nowhere, little raised metro stations with NPCs trapped inside, the list goes on.

The city doesn’t feel in any way alive like they implied it would. The entire first act feels like it was gutted and replaced with a montage. The gangs/factions feel afterthoughts. I made a joke prior to launch about “living in Night City” when it launched because of how much I was going to play, so the city being like this is very disappointing.

Despite all this, I did still enjoy it and do not regret getting it at launch. I’m on One X and aside from almost a dozen crashes in the first 2-3 days before that first patch, I haven’t actually experienced any quest breaking bugs that couldn’t be fixed from simply reloading and the crashes dramatically decreased. I looks forward to new content, but the game does need some dramatic improvements to feel like it can compete with similar games or CDPRs own Witcher 3.

  7. Cutting down the redistribution shard from 100K to 25K is really nice.

Also, the graphics got an upgrade on my PC running a Titan X Pascal on an X99 motherboard with an 8 core CPU. There’s a bit of reflections on V’s window in their apt, the lighting is bloomier.

I’ve been going back and forth between my PC and GeForce Now to compare Ray Tracing effects against my rig. This patch closed that gap in unexpected ways. It’s very very subtle though. I don’t want to raise expectations.

  9. Right on the eddies man, this does not change anything much, accept please the current active player base, DLC will need to drop to increase the player base, for now this doesnt doo much to bring me back too the game after beating it….

  10. Such a disappointing release. The clockwork nature of the AI is so rudimentary for modern standards. I am hopeful this game will be patched to a suitable level, not this day though. I appreciate this PSA. I will come back when I hear good news.

  11. I really hope the lawsuit against CDPR drains them. Sorry but this game is a scam. Even if they fixed ALL of the bugs, there are so many problems with the core mechanics of the game.
Not being able to see over your dashboard, odd mission pacing, lack of real RPG features, repetitive missions in general, lame implementation of hookers/romance that ends up being very shallow. The game over all just feels like something that belongs in the Bioshock era. Sadly, there are a lot of really cool features (skills in general that are fun) but the problems overwhelm to the point that is doesn't matter.

  12. Liked you article on forbes and I totally agree that CDPR will move but only because 1 I think they can't handle it 2 an online multi player version is way out of thier league they don't have the talent nor the ability to pull it off and 3 they want people to just forget about the game as it sucks and CDPR would rather forget it as fast as possible
