Cyberpunk 2077 is this year’s most anticipated game, but can you play it in VR? (Spoiler: You can) However, how does it look, is it worth paying $39.99 extra for? I show you how it looks in the headset as close as possible using the Open VR Plugin, as well as how to get everything setup so you too can try Cyberpunk out in VR.

  1. Hey 🙂 Great video for the idea to use open VR and the description of the process, first to do it I believe, so really useful.

Now for some of the issues you had, even though Vorpx and the very new profile made for Cyberpunk is never gonna be like proper VR (though with time, a mod similar to GTA V should come out and the profile will get refined), I think a lot of your experience is held back by 2 things primarily :

    – the 2070S which unfortunately is a bit light to get Cyberpunk working well in VR even without recording (their game is so badly optimised as the 2070S is a great card still). You would most likely need at least 3070 and ideally 3080 or above to get the best VR can offer on this game, running dlss 2.0.

    – Also, you did not mention it I think but from your other video, you are using a HTC vive (1080×1200 per eye) I believe ? If so the resolution will be a big factor since G2 is about twice higher (2160×2160 per eye) and Quest 2 is much higher still (1832×1920), meaning you would not need to zoom as much while getting a much higher quality of your image in the Headset. But running those headset definitely would require 3070 and higher given the almost 4k nature of their display.

The above is by no means a negative critic of your set up or video, as your video is more useful than any of the other VR one just showing the pancake version!. I simply mean to say that with a new gen Card and a higher res Headset, your experience would improve drastically using Vorpx in this game (or others) as you would require less zoom, get a much clearer image & better graphics thus greater immersion, especially using DLSS 2.0 for Cyberpunk.

Thanks for the video again, super useful for people to get into it I think ! Subscribed 🙂

  2. VorpX has come a long way since I bought it. I'm sad that there is still no Geometry 3D option for Cyberpunk yet, but I must have something wrong with my settings. It wont let me move my image zoom above .80. Which is really annoying. The FOV works great but if I could bump that up to .9 or .95 and adjust the FOV up by 10 degrees or so it would be completely immersive. Right now I can still peek the edge of the screen at the top and bottom. My main settings looks nothing like yours in VorpX for some reason.

  3. the opening of the settings by accident looks like it would be a pain in the ass haha, but definitely won't be buying VorpX after watching this, Thanks

  4. VorpX is by far the most terrible peace of software in terms of doing your settings. But man, if you dial those settings in perfectly you have a decent VR experience.

  5. I know this is a really late comment lol, but if you run the game using 4K instead of 1080, you can get more sharpness when it Zooms in. Using DLSS, I run it all the way up to a custom resolution of 4K and it looks better than default 1080p

  7. Its a start, I had managed to get mine to appear full 360 with vorpx, but with headtracking and latency issues with the quest to pc, as well as multiple programs running on an rtx 2080 it seemed to taxing on my alienware m51. When I would move my head the hold screen would fly away, and then kinda glitch back where it was when I moved my head slow. I could see the tru potential its most definitely an interesting experience. Considering what vr is the start of, im curious to see some future mods. Ghostwire: Tokyo, is another one im interested in seeing played in vr, maybe vorpx will work better with that one, or someone creates a mod.

  8. Definitely fun to walk around or drive through the city, but absolutely not an ideal way to actually play the game. Still worth getting a VR mod to revisit locales in VR and explore though.
