Night City is a dangerous place. If you aren’t well equipped your journey to becoming a legend could end before it even begins. In this video we’re going to explain the benefit of iconic weapons, where to find them, and how to upgrade them.

Cyberpunk 2077’s tiered loot system can be confusing at first glance. Like most RPGs, it offers weapons of various rarity, from common to legendary, but separate from its rarity is whether or not the weapon is iconic.

While you can find epic and even legendary weapons scattered around the place throughout your journey through Night City, iconic weapons are much harder to come by and require a little more effort to use effectively. In the above video, we explain the benefit of using iconic weapons, the best places to find iconic weapons, and how to upgrade them.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia. For more tips for CD Projekt Red’s latest, make sure to subscribe to youtube.com/GameSpot.

  1. The fact that you have to invest 18 points into a tree just to unlock the perk to craft legendary items is stupid… I feel like the perks that let you craft rare, epic and legendary items should be removed from the skill tree and replaced with other skills and just allow us to craft all rarity items regardless of where we decide to invest our points.

At the moment the way the game is designed it's pointless to invest into those perks for permanent use. It's best to reset your skill points when you have all the mats and items ready to go for your crafting, put all your skill points into the crafting tree, then craft all your items and upgrade all your icon guns and gear you want. Then after that's done you just reset your skills again and put them into the skills you actually want to boost the damage of the guns you crafted.

So why would you ever invest the skill points and attribute points to have the crafting skills for the ability to craft higher tier items if you only need to do it once? They need to solve this issue…

  2. Overwatch is my favourite iconic weapon. I've just crafted it to epic and just waiting to level up to get the perk so I can craft it to legendary. I hack the cameras to friendly and then headshot them behind a covered position. You can shoot through walls with this baby. When there are no camera, I ping them. They can't see me so they don't attack me but I can see them. It's so good it feels like I'm cheating. Then next is Widow Maker, crafted it to epic and it has 500+ DPS with mods attached.

For those who just started the blueprints to craft iconic weapons don't show up when you get them. It happens later on. I don't know what triggers it but I believe it when you level up then they show up. I didn't see blueprints for my iconic weapons for a long time. I'm 40+ hours in at time of writing this.

  3. As of right now: Once you've crafted the Base Variant to the next Rarity, you may not craft it again because the base model is gone and this key factor will hurt you in the long run.

Example: Dying Night pistol is given to you at an Uncommon/Green variant. If you craft it to the next Rarity (Blue) then again (Purple) and Finally (Gold) you're stuck with that Golden varient as you cannot craft it again and you're stuck upgrading it until level 50 which is absurd considering the cost of upgrading per level. This is not suppose to happen as once you gain an iconic weapon the blueprint should stick with you.

So if you create a legendary Black Unicorn at level 21 you're stuck with a level 21 legendary Black Unicorn for the rest of the game. I hope there's a patch on the way for this ASAP

  4. God damn it I’ve definitely gotten rid of a few of these 😢😅 I just want them to fill up the stash.. I’m gonna save the rest and make sure to pay more attention on my next play through so I have a full armory 🤘🏼

  5. I have the PS4 version of the game and I don’t see how to rotate the character preview and weapons in the menu inventory screens. I must not be seeing how to do it. Or the PS4 version doesn’t have that feature. Am I wrong?

  6. I have iconic weapons I don't have any use for any longer (such as swords/katanas), and I'm trying to place them in my stash. However, they're not appearing on my wall. I've discovered that you basically have to craft, then upgrade to "legendary," the iconic weapons before they'll appear on my wall. The problem I'm running into is that I cannot upgrade a few weapons to Legendary, because I found them at that level, but the lower quality versions are in my blueprints . . . am I missing something?
