Cyberpunk 2077 has finally given a timeline for its expansion but it’s so far away, it sure seems like the only one we’re going to get as the rest of CDPR moves on. Also, some new sales info that reinforces that idea.

  1. One of the criticisms I have of the video is you credit CD Projekt Red of creating Night City and the Cyberpunk universe. The Staff of CDPR were fans of the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop system and got permission by it's creator Mike Pondsmith to create a video game in the Cyberpunk universe, or more specifically the expertly crafted Nightcity which was already the main setting of Cyberpunk 2020.

  2. I'm curious if the initial sales included all the refunds as well. I'm sure the latest number is the actual sales of the game but it would be hard to know the total with the poor initial launch. I personally loved the game and want it to do well. looking forward to more content.

  3. Wticher 3 came out during a different gaming atmosphere but it still suffered from complaints about bugs (was called The Glitcher) and the downgrading outrage. Cyberpunk has had an incredible journey for a hacked game that came out too early during a pandemic and now cdpr being based in Poland, (War in Ukraine). This is so much to deal with it. At some points I thought they would cut and run. One expansion in 2023 is great news. They aren't giving up 🙂

  4. Cyberpunk released broken and unfinished 3-4 years earlier and still sold 18 million copies in one year.

For comparison, another disaster Fallout 76 only sold 3 million copies in one year.

  5. If they charge money for features they said would be in the game at launch and people say it’s the next No Man’s Sky I’m gonna pirate every Projekt Red release that I happen to want

  6. It's a shame patch 1.5 came out when it did. Too far from release, too close to Elden Ring. Cyberpunk is honestly one of my favourite games of all time now. The major bugs have been ironed out, and now the only bugs I've noticed are more Skyrim style bugs that are just funny. It's one of very few games that actually invested in writing some damn good dialogue and characters. The world is compelling, build crafting is fun, and there's a good sandbox of weapons and abilities. I really hope there will be 2 DLCs but I doubt it at this point too.

  7. Does destiny even sell 4 million copies of expansions or anything? The way you scoff at it while cheering about like 60k concurrent players is wild to me.

  8. People don't twist this 18M as a celebratory when 14M of this sale came from HYPE with the cost of their reputation, so overall even with cut prices the game only sold 4M in 2021 -2022,
RD2 for comparison sold 29M after 1 year, not including PC, CP2077 is behind RD2 with the most expensive game to make.

  9. The game needed another year at least. Wish they had delayed. The world is great, the VAs are great and the story was great overall. I hope it's like Blood and Wine in regards to size and story.

  10. And whats goin to happen is people are goin to forget about it and focus on sumthin more interesting long story short loss of money for cyberpunk because of the wait they should really rethink that idea like haven't u guys waisted enough of our time and money on this game.

  11. What if they really mean expansion and not dlc.

I really miss the time when games basically got a whole extra game based on the original base game.
Blood and Wine is probably the closest in recent memory, so I believe it's possible.
