Would you like to play as your V in Orion – the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077? Without a canon ending would it be too complex a task given the variety of endings? Even if those endings are taken as starting/entry quests for the sequel which meet back at a core plot thread/point, they would need to gloss over the 6 month prognosis. This ending would resolve that isssue and give us some exciting potential for innovative gameplay and storytelling, turning things on their heads!

The Sun Ending can also be the cannon ending, since Mr Blue-Eyes seems to promise a cure, so It could get you one that was better than NUSA's cure, and you get to continue as a legend having to deal with bigger things. Or the face in the crowd could also be cannon, you are back to square one, almost no chrome, just basic things and something happens you have to fend for yourself, then Mr Blue-Eyes shows up and says that you're being wasted that way and uses some kind of tech that allows V to get chromed again, but then that put's you in another problematic spot, like being forced to work for him, or having other side effects, and V has to fight for his life and meet new friends, maybe Rogue will remember him and ask about Johnny, but it's just that.
And I don't think Johnny will come back in the next game, having Keanu do another game would be quite expensive…
As one dude says, he choice this ending because Netrunner his 200% favourite build and this ending best for him to see what beyond Blackwall. For me fight to the end in Blaze of Glory is best one, as Dex says…I love beat enemys by hammer and end them by rockt launcher from my hand.
We still dont know the Legend ending. And with all this extra background about Blue Eyes… Maybe.
The canon ending to me is the NOMAD ending. Simply because its the most hopeful one also because if I'm going to die I'd rather die being surrounded by friends/family while also being free of NC.
The only cannon ending has to be the secret ending, its the one Johnny most approves of and it leaves the outcome open ended, like mr blue eyes might be able to save V after they’ve retrieved whatever it is that they are after on the Crystal Palace.
V's "canon" ending would be very simple in Orion. Much like Morgan Blackhand, David, or Johnny those who didn't experience it firsthand will have myths and legends about how V went out. What would be an easy thing for CDPR is to have gossip from random NPCs around the city about V and some of the epic gigs pulled off etc.
I had the same thoughts about the Relic, basically purging the program and re-inserting yourself to fix the problem.
I've done a no cyberwear of the game except for the base that you start with. Face in the crowd assumes that only the chromed out to the max can win and it's not true. It's hard for sure but think about the fact of what you did with nothing but eyes, a grip, and the base deck.
As for Johnny being gone because of the NUSA I would trust that about as far as I could throw a car. You know they did everything in their power to save that chip including Johnny's engram and that is why we were in a coma for 2 years because they kept us there until they could save the tech for their own uses. Likely they did intentional damage to us so that when we find out that Johnny is not gone and they screwed us over for 2 years we would not be able to take revenge.
Also, on a side note. Even if the NUSA destroyed Johnny, you know there's another copy of him across the Arasaka global corp. Saburo backed himself up, he would absolutely back up anything he considered of value.
I think they will let V die and go a different way for Orion tho. I don't know exactly what but having an "unknown" protagonist gives them far more freedom and us too. Don't get me wrong, I'd love some way out and also to not lose Judy because man does the Face in the Crowd ending punch me in the gut over and over.
I think you might be overthinking it. If CDPR want to bring V back into the next game, then all they have to do is build another compelling story, a story strong enough to re-align all end-game choice. Except for the dumb choices, like suicide or siding with corpos, as this takes a different path and that V's fate is sealed and the game is over.
The Relic chip used to house Johnny’s engram was a prototype and yes V does have the specs but the time and money required to manufacture would be monumental. Unless V stole the second one that Saburo used to steal Yorinobu’s body
Alt did think of that.
The issue with this is that the reliquary chip (what I call the relic we have in our head) was designed specifically to take over a filled mind.
The reason why all the previous tests failed was because the minds were empty.
This chip was designed from the start to take over someone else (specifically, Yorinobu Arasaka. Saburo was always going to take his son's body)
Personally, I don't think V will be in Orion.
They will want a fresh gonk to mess with, since multiplayer is going to be included, they will want to pick someone else to be the main character.
What I would personally like to see, is hints.
Scan your save/saves and if you have more than one V, ask
'Who are YOU?'
and you pick an end save to tell Orion which ending you picked, which V you were.
Then, in game there are hints.
Graffiti. Stories. Your drink at the Afterlife.
Depending on what you did, who you helped/ghosted and how you played.
If you flatlined the main Voodoo's, they were sainted by the lower level gangoons and the NewVoodoo's are rabid monsters who shoot to kill anyone not from Pacifica (compared to just hating/not trusting non Pacifica's)
If Alt took them out (no bullets, no visible trauma) then the Voodoo's went super Mystical. Tales of the 'great pilgrimage' circulated Pacifica, tons of gonks tried to slip thru the Blackwall on stolen cyberdeck. Others walk the streets in ragged Netrunner suits, preaching about the 'Paradise of the GhostWorld' or seeing glimpses of 'Digital Shangri La'
If you always killed Scavs (as I do lol), V has become their personal grim reaper. Tales told of a monster that could flatline whole buildings of them, with no survivors left to even tell the story, other than bodies on the floor (lol).
If you gave every vet you met money ('spare a veteran some change?') they talk about V.
It should take into account if you chose any ending (since some of us never visit Embers) and rumours and hints reflect that.
So if you chose the Tower, your previous exploits are legendary but you just vanished.
If you chose the Devil, they say you were a sell out, tho less so if you came back to earth. (And corpo or Arasaka folks know you more)
Choose the old secret ending, and Arasaka is different. Yori didn't destroy it as he does in the Tower, instead he solidified his powerbase then started to undermine the other corps.
So the other corps are weaker. Still there, but not as powerful as they are in the Tower ending.
If V left the city or self deleted, there is tons of rumours and speculation about what happened.
You don't meet V, but you hear about V…what YOUR version of V did.
Oh, drink at the Afterlife.
My main V's drink is
2 shots of Sake, topped off with Soda Water, and a splash of AbSynth for colour.
(Sake because Arasaka, Soda because its cheap and AbSynth for the colour of her eyes. Its a giant screw you to the Saka's cause you don't add stuff to Sake lol, and soda's the cheapest stuff you can get in a way…dirty streetrat's drink.)
THANK YOU, I was wandering the same thing, why cant the nano machines be reprogrammed or just undo the damage??
As others have said on here I think that the canon ending will be Don't Fear The Reaper with V doing the Crystal Palace heist. In the world of Cyberpunk, a cure for V would be feasible, most likely an edited form of BioDyne's highly expensive MS treatment. In the Tower ending, the Crystal Palace heist is mentioned on the laptop so either way that seems to be a canonical event with or without V pulling it off. Silverhand as an AI can still come back and speak to V from beyond the Blackwall much like Songbird did. But that's one big IF, Orion continues V's story
Phantom liberty v can still be a fixer i night city
“Don’t fear the reaper” is the most canon ending to me if you want to bring V back…… Him and Mr blue eyes made a deal and obviously Mr blue eyes is gonna save V from dying Johnny is already gone & Your a living legend. Wouldn’t you want to start off as V doing a mission at the crystal palace. & none of the characters die
I think taking down arska makes the other corps scared and and weak like the don't fear the reaper ending one merc who's half dead kills everyone including smasher something they couldn't do
What about them making a new body with a clone from Johnny working with biotechnica
Biotech was known to experiment with cloned bodys, what if some terrorist group infiltrates one of their bases to make a copy of V, to download his engram into. And you are part of that group, seeing your own V as main NPC come to life again. Nomad/ streetkid start?
The other start , lets say corpo, V with the help of someone else and the corpo that you are a part of, gets a cure? Possibility mister blue eyes using some of his tech but we dont know that at this point yet?
And a third start that gets initialized if you dont have a CP 2077 save file, where V doesnt exist so its a randomly generated NPC or a KI that will change the Story and give more closure once played after completing a save with 1 or 2? And this time, you cant choose a path, the frist time around, meaning the game decides what you get according to your save file. But you will unlock path 3 after one completion. Like New Game plus?
Just throwing out ideas.
CDPR could throw out a patch that will not only allow for a official new game + option but also save files for the upcoming game so the games are perfectly compatible with read and save files. So you cant have more than one ending on each save file. It would change factions according to who Vs enemys and friends are in the previous game. Knowing which characters are still alive or not and replacing them accordingly.
And all your past choices as V are shown to make a difference in the new game for your new character that has V as some sort of mentor maybe or V takes the role of a fixer or maybe he is like Reed in Phantom liberty for the bigger missions?
As a da fan, me fan and a cyberpunk fan (haven't played witcher yet) I really hope they let us import our saves from the previous games or if they can't let us select our choices from an interactive comic. Or make a website like the dragon age keep and let us pick our choices and change them on the site.
Dont fear the reaper ending is cannon i belive tgey will continue v story in the cristal palace and jonny will come bach bc some of jonnys memories are still stored on the relic , i belive ther is allready a clobe of jonny arround and as soon jonny an v meet they will be back to the point of no return
Amazing video and tbh you make an extremely compelling case for what you consider the best chance for V, but for me the bestchance for V to survive will always be the one for the Don't Fear The Reaper ending or at a pinch even the star and I'll explain.
1: V enters mikoshi and johnny's engram is removed thus extending V's life from weeks to months
2: The drugs Vik gives V work better now that hints at a further life extension (not by much I'll grant that)
3: V is now a living legend who defeated arasaka essentially singlehandedly and I'd expect any other corp biotechnica etc to offer services to help V in return for his services.
4: The Path of Glory mission is what finally convinced me that V lives because when V is talking to Mr Blue Eyes an A.I from beyond the blackwall and v tells him not to forget his side of the bargain to which Mr Blue Eyes responds "I never forget a promise" and just before V leaves the ship Mr Blue Eyes says " If this works you'll gain more than you ever imagined"
Now do I believe V will be the protagonist is Orion, sadly no but I firmly believe V will be talked about maybe make a cameo in the game, also I believe Johnny is alive
beyond the blackwall and he'll maybe make an appearance.
Just my take on it love the theory and lore videos 💛
To be honest, we've handled Johnny's story. Of course it would be cool if he could appear in Orion, maybe as a gig or perhaps even a main story part. Can imagine Johnny (in V's body) as some fixer.
But to keep involving him in the 'main plot' feels .. weak. Being too attached to the old.
There is so much more in this universe, and I want to see that. Blackhand, Nightcorp, Blackwall, Crystal Palace.
I'm willing to bet that at least 2 of these will be the main plot of Orion.
With the phantom liberty ending, V can return as a fixer
I’m sorry, secret ending is my favorite
It's called "Temperance" Ending, based on the Temperance tarot card, which mean "moderation" & "patience." From this meanings, we can deduced that V albeit became AI, still have the premise of to wait for the right moment for V to come back. This outcome certainly have it's own difficulty, mainly providing V with a new host body that compatible enough. There are 3 possible options for solution to this host body problem.
First, Clone Body. Unless somehow CDPR made some kind of deus ex machina plot, somehow V have clone from his original body before the relic corruption AKA before the heist event. This scenario is very unlikely imo. You may ask, what's wrong with the after heist V body?? The body's DNA already being rewritten to suit Johnny's relic, so it's practically suicide no. 2 for V. In conclusion, this option is very unlikely.
Second, Family line. It has been revealed very clearly in Devil Ending that the only next successful host body is from a direct family lineage host body, meaning it's V's own children. Now CDPR can make all kind of scenarios, but based on romance partners relevancy, a direct family line can only be available through either Panam X Male V or River X Female V. Not only that, this solution will still have its own dilemma since V would basically have to take their own child's body, like Saburo did. Even with contexts, we are being confronted with a very ethical dilemma that certainly very cyberpunk imo.
Third, Digital Possession. Honestly your proposal just doesn't cut it for an intimate RPG experience that is all about individuality. Honestly, I have played my share of nightmare for such scenario with game "Mindjack" & Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday & this scenario is practically just Watch Dogs Legion with a few steps. So, it just sucks imo. I would even add that such scenario can easily be considered as evil path no matter how you put it since otherwise V will forcefully possessed a person.
The craziest thing is each ending you pick not only shapes V but it also shapes NC. The Devil ending means Saburo is back. Aldecaldos means Hannako is gone and Yorinobu is going to start dismantling arasaka. The Johnny ending hints at a 5th corporate war. And the cure ending shows millitech and zetatech take a much bigger foothold in NC. So I think the “canon” ending depends more on what they want the overall NC narrative to look like.
Whoa whoa whoa. Back the trolly fella.
Grasp this concept.
Picture it, Cecilia 2077.
V can't use cybernetics due to removing Jonny after PL.
But found out Johnny still exists and is being used by the government for the same purpose as He was attended for.
So V gets the idea to relic to a new gen synth body.
This allows the player to duplicate previous V from a save or be remade from scratch.
Also give the excuse to have to relearn skills having been without cybernetics for so long.
Damn, can't anyone be creative anymore? Yeesh….
What I expect: V's heist at Konpeki would be mentioned or referenced to by people as fact. Everything else after would be made ambiguious as rumors. Effectively making V an urban legend.
From a gameplay perspective, I don’t think decisions made in one game always carry over to the sequel. Especially if there are multiple different endings. You’d have to ‘merge’ most of them into one beginning in the sequel.
So, although the base (city and surrounding areas) might be the same, or at least, similar. I doubt CDPR will lock themselves into a corner by carrying over stuff from the previous game. Of course, the heist at Konpeki might carry over. Same with contacting Alt by crossing the black wall.
They’ll probably learn a lot from what worked, what didn’t, how they finalized cyberwear working with weapons etc., and the revamped police system.
Maybe they’ll add a reputation system the player can keep track of, and were the player can ‘nudge’ it by how they complete quests.
I think, if they do continue the story with V, that the endings are pretty much the lifepath, Devil's ending is the corpo, nomad is self-explanatory, the secret ending is the street kid (or legend) and the Johnny's ending is the rocker boy, the new ending probably is the something like a no Chrome path, BUT I also think that there's more to it, since every ending is related to some party, the nomad with biotechnica, the devil with arasaka, the secret with rogue AIs, the new one with militech and only Johnny's is unrelated to, which could be another component of gameplay, I think either way one party would have some advantages in relation to the other because of your choice if that's true the next game would have the real life path that changes everything.
I feel like CDPR's favored ending is "The Star", with a male V that has romanced Panam. River stays in NC if you're a female V that romanced him, and Judy sits in another car while you cuddle up with Panam on the tank. I know V shares an important bond with Panam, but it just seems slightly off.
V isn't a protagonist like Commander Shepard, Dante (DMC), or CDPR's version of Geralt. V is a vehicle for the player to interact with the world of Cyberpunk.
The relic is a fascinating tool, and could open up a lot of ways to keep players grouped up with someone that doesn't have a physical form and experiences everything you do. So Mi hijacked access to V utilizing it. Imagine having a relic shard jacked into the next character's system on purpose. They go from the life of a face in the crowd to that of a merc, trying to complete tasks for an unknown power. Corp, rogue AI, or a private and secretive other power, it doesn't matter who but that the player's character is being used for someone else's goals. Trying to free yourself, save yourself, is always the inner struggle. I'd much rather play that game than try to struggle along as V with V's baggage.
Same thing with the edgerunner's anime, one story ends and a whole new one should come about.
God I hope they don't do a true sequel. I want a new character with their own story. I hated that this one was just Never Fade Away 2.0. such a lazy story.
The star ending for me an here’s why I say that
1- ai ( alt ) when you say no no no check again, she strongly implies that the 6mths life span is only a baseline for which you could live longer or shorter.
2- if you take Judy she’ll stay with you an remain happy and traveling with panam to Tuscan you can explore new opportunities.
3- goro could be sent for revenge as haniko would be killed trying to retake arasaka tower by her brother. This has already happened in blood a chrome where Johnny detonated the nuke ending the war a forcing japan to leave night city.
4- when you choose the star ending Mitch asks you what your up to an where you are which implies that by that time your not with them possibly checking out Panama contacts.
Now I know people will this as impossible but here’s the thing Johnny doesn’t want to live he wants to be with alt, Johnny wants you to live so doing it the way where you go with alt changes Johnny he is filled with guilt which he hates an you see that in him. Now as for the whole argument he made can be done the same way but with Johnny to come back so can’t really base it as a cannon ending. Just saying based on what I noticed plus left out stuff
I think there is a secret ending. With hanako arasaka. With that space ship. To be continued
Plot Twist:
This is all an illusion, you're actually a rogue AI from beyond the blackwall running simulations in an effort to understand the world. It's an experiment to study human behavior between machines and flesh 🧬🖥️. As humans continue to merge with cybernetics, it becomes inevitable to experiment 🧪🥼.
Endings Devil, Star, Sun, Path of least resistance has concluded.
Test results are in:
(REDACTED)
I think the next game is going to have a new protagonist. V’s story is done. Any one of these endings can be canon for you. But I really don’t think we’ll be playing as V or Johnny-V in the next game.
Cyberpunk is so rich with lore it doesn't need to follow up. I hope they make the Trauma team girl's story like a dlc in Orion.
But you also gonna be off with Alt as would Johnny. The main difference Johnny already have experience to live in that environment, it's what he talking about inside mikoshi.
My thoughts on this:
It also can be that any of endings where u enter mikoshi with Alt would be true. This will have small consequences for some characters in sequel (Like with Adda or Letho in Witcher) and the main difference will be in prologue/intro (like with choosing you fate background). This main difference will depend on whether you choose a Temperance ending or not. So If you did it will be an opening to the main story where things go as you said in video. And if you not – you will have opening where you do the same thing but for Johnny and/or Alt. The only variable is time of events in sequel. For my version sequel should take place somewhere in between of these 6 month. And according to how fast things are happening I believe it's possible. Also I believe time is crucial for V if he will stay with Alt, as she said she was able to survive and she cannot speak for V. So we can assume that V can't wait long in the Net either.
Okay so, I don't know if anyone already said it, but if y'all don't mind, I'll say it
Doesn't quite matter the ending, V is a widely known Merc amongst other mercs, most of the game endings also result on him becoming a legend. If cyberpunk Orion ends up being a sequel do 2077, everyone who talks about V could be (to a degree) clueless of what really happened to him after Arasaka tower, just speculation in between NPC's. Since a deed as widely known as his could 100% be dismembered in a ton of different versions told by people
You guys need to realize that Vs story is over. The best outcome for him/her is to take the millions made during the game and leave for a private island. After you wake up in 2079, you should canonically be a millionaire. You cant chrome up, you are tired after all the killing, hell, my V is the scariest person, I think everyones is. Hundreds, HUNDREDS of people killed, and not in an exact off hands way.
This is the main difference between V and Geralt, Geralt killed a lot, but not as much as V(only if you count people of course). I picked New dawn fades in my first ever playthrough, what you said with the Relic, you cant be put on a relic after getting soul killed, it either has to be before, or at the same time. V can still "live" as an AI, but why? Isnt it enough? Johnny had his life, let V retire into the sunset after all this shit.
I do agree
Johnny is definitely likeable from about half way through 2077 but that does not make up for a lifetime of bad choices. I like Johnny but fuck Johnny he never gets V's body and Johnny says as much "when the time comes, I will give my life for yours" Johnny knows he does not deserve a second chance which completes his redemption arch but it's too late.
Nah, the only ending thay makes sense for me now is Phantom Liberty..having a Government program that saved her life is going to find a way to cure her brain damage also, a government program could potentially remove rhe chip, Johnny intact and replicate it on a non-harmful Biochip..
The early rooftop ending is the most canon fight me
Johnny wouldn't want that outcome as he says himself changing someone until they're unrecognisable is the worse thing you can do to a person which is why he's so determined to save V and in new dawn fades he wallows in pity because he feels that's what he's done even if V willingly made the choice
cs project red is still so fucking tiny compared to me I should've seen the poison
Given the fact that original script for the game (before Reeves was on board) was about 5th corp war with Johnny being a nomad, they could easily implement this ending into it. Of course, it's nothing but wishful thinking and speculating based solely on the new ending in which we see apparent start of the 5th corporate.
