Thanks for the watch-along, dear leader.
It gave me the drive to finally watch the last 4 episodes. It was really fun!
This is one of those shows that you know from the first minute it'll be a punch in the gut, but you can't help but want to see how it ends.
Rewatching it hit even harder than the first time
Watched the show beforehand up to episode 7, then today I finished the rest of it with the stream. Man, that ending was crazy. What an amazing show. I'm also compelled to try out playing the original game, this anime has completely convinced me to do so now.
I watched it in subs the first time and now dub this time, and I have to admit that people were right about the dubbed being good. Thanks for the binge stream! It was fun to watch with everyone and see all the reactions.
The hardest thing as a small youtuber is after making a video that you actually like, seeing that it is receiving NO VIEWS and no subs or likes. I bet all small youtubers can relate.
I've heard the series described as a very complicated ad to handle one particular game character. And y'know what

I fell asleep in the middle of the 4th episode. So VOD gang it is.
Rewatching this hits different after playing the game, it's crazy how accurate the setting is and the little details that carry over from the game are just SO good.

First time watching a watch along and I cant figure out how this is fun for the streamer when the chat keeps on spoiling or hinting what will happen…
The first time I watched the bit where Lucy tells David her backstory I had to pause it to deal with a Richter Scale level wave of deja vu. See, about 20 years ago I was heavy into the Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG including several tournament style runs at conventions. In those tournaments I ran a field combat netrunner that had started out as part of an Arasaka experimental unit of 'trained from toddler' operatives, who in her mid teens decided to escape into the world and became an edgerunner.
Once I got my brain back together and finished watching the episode, I dusted off an old contact and sent them an email.
Me: "Is Edgerunners Lucy a post-DataKrash, 2076 version of Silence (my character's edgerunner handle)?"
Them (paraphrased): "Yeah. Silence was brushed off in early pre-production design along with some other tournament characters, given working vocal chords (because duh, speaking role) and after some rounds of design she evolved into Lucy."
Me (after what might have been a minor heart attack, stroke, or just a break in my personal reality): "Fucking sweet!"
