Kickstarter is sometimes used to gauge demand for a new product. Having big names on the platform also attracts attention to it, which could benefit everything else on the platform.
Off-Topic a bit. Can anyone confirm that the Raven Micro Mk4 is still at Dr. Chrome's – mine doesn't have it at any Ripper (fingers not available yet but why would they move it there?. Seems to be missing from the game. Also, did I just run into this, or is it a 1.3 thing? – Minimum INT to install equip Cyberdecks is 15 – The Netwatch & Tetratronic Rippler are Int 20 to equip.
Just stop pre ordering these games .I grantee they'll change there ways ….

Doesn't matter if they asked or not, not a big deal really. a lot of things could be valid to why they asked. In my opinion it would have been controversial if they asked for funds for the cyberpunk game after they made those numbers.

Here's what CDPR should've done with Cyberpunk 2077:
– Build the world first (focusing on a lively place, people have jobs they go to, cops are active, there are various interactions and activities throughout the world).
– Make a story within that world that goes through various activities like what you get in GTA V.
– Deeper interactions with territories (Much like how it is in Fallout games where you get favored by a faction by doing certain things)
– King of night city. Buy stuff, conquer territories, etc.
CDPR asking for money as a billionaire company is absurt and definitely crazy after Cyberpunk 2077 $300 million in revenue. I am seeing a patern develop with this CDPR. 1 step forward 2 steps back and that is never a good sign. I have already decided for myself to no longer be buying games from this compang other perhabs the expansions for CP2077 simply because I have in general no interrest in their other games but I am a cyberpunk genre fan hence why I am here but even if I was a fan of the genre their other games elaborate on I would morally not want to buy them because it's a 1 step forward 2 step back company, they tell you they mean something or will do something but then totally do something else what gets on my nerves because it's also something bad they are doing.

Not dropping a dime for CDPR until I see actual improvement of Cyberpunk. Not for any project.
So now they want people to pay upfront again? Well you never going to believe this but my wallet is encrypted and I forgot the password.
It's a great game with great story but i hate it only have sad ending only. Also they kill Jacky.
Constantly Hiring QA people is actually a bad sign, it means they burn them out, and still don't fix anything.
I generally don't like the japanese iteration of the witcher. Even their figurines don't really look good to me. Feels forced somehow.
Lol that jojo person doesn't know what he's talking about. The friendship with jackie is barely fleshed out enough for his death to have a meaningful impact, yes it's sad but mostly because of how it's presented, the music and dialogue etc.
In this case is not about asking for money. It's about risk, why make 10k collector editions and how they sell. Kickstart only is just pre-orders. They only make what they sell so almost 0 risk. Would be different if they were doing the entire Manga project, but it appears to be just for the collectors edition.
Several bigger companies have started doing this because it lowers their risk. Why spend thousands on art, scripts, production etc if you don't know how it will do. Crowdfunding gives them a better idea upfront. People like the idea and are willing to join in the risk.
So. I'm 50/50 on this.
I want to like this game sooooo damn bad but they just keep shittin the bed
