Cyberpunk 2077 had a very interesting release and history, but what are the chances of us ever seeing a sequel to the game. Here is what I think about it.

  1. Eh. I want them to move away from Cyberpunk and go back to making Choice based RPGs. Bioware doesn't matter anymore, so Obsidian and Bethesda are the only ones working on actual choice-based RPGs atm. No matter how you look at it, Cyberpunk is a terrible RPG, so terrible that CDPR changed the description of the game to Action game or something from RPG.

  2. I think they’d be stupid not to build on Cyberpunk 2077. They’ve licensed the IP (past a certain point), and there was nothing wrong with their collaboration with Mike Pondsmith. Hopefully they’ve learned some lessons and can turn out a better second game. They did it before with the Witcher: every game in the series built on what was established by the previous games.

I usually prefer 3rd person games, but having everything be in 1st person in CP2077 really made me feel like everything was happening directly to me, rather than to a character I was controlling. I’d play either way, though, as long as their storytelling is good. After all, the Witcher games were in 3rd person and, even though the events did not feel like they were happening directly to me, I still sympathized with the character and was drawn into the story.

  3. From the lingering story threads and lore of course its possible.

But like how Watch Dogs 2s trailer was more consistent with the end product. Thats how it would have to be sold (with perhaps another apology) to the public.

Its not just what one can do in a video game but how these actions are relevant to the overall gameplay loop.

  4. Im a little spoiled by the Bethesda games – Everywhere are interactive objects and the locations are more compact – u can do more immersive stuff. CP77 and W3 are more vast and beautiful but also more stage then playground. I hope Witcher 4 will be more compact in world size but also more packed with interactivity, even when it is nonsensical. I enjoyed in CP77 just mow down random gangs or do shopping but nowhere i cant sit down and enjoy the view – and dam NC is so beautiful!

  5. Whoever thought we are not getting another witcher game is stupid. Why would CDPR not release 4th witcher game???? They put their company on the map with the witcher 3 lol

  6. Unpopular opinion but if they made another cyberpunk game it should be smaller more like open areas than open world, they should get the basis right before reattempting to make an open world.

  7. I think it all depends on the success of Witcher 4 then if they make the next Cyberpunk with Unreal Engine I think it will be a great game, but it will be on 2030 at least and who knows who will be alive till that time! lol

  8. Knowing CDPR they’ll turn the Cyberpunk IP into a CCG like they did with Thronebreaker. I’ll admit that would be pretty cool, but I would much prefer a full fledged sequel or even prequel involving new characters.

  9. I doubt it.
Wouldn't surprise me if after the next witcher game we found out they had a new IP and weren't going back to the cyberpunkt game.Just their way of purging themselves from all the mistakes they made with the game.
I do want a sequel but after they decided only to give us one expansion I don't feel any confidence in them anymore.

  10. They can't abandon Cyberpunk. They paid alot for the rights to the IP from Mr pondsmith. Think about it, they literally only own 2 ips, The Witcher and then Cyberpunk. They can't NOT make a sequel because they can't afford to abandon it. Switching to Unreal engine was the best move they could of made. Building Cyberpunks sequel in Unreal engine with the support of Epic will alleviate so many of the problems that Cyberpunk faced during that disastrous launch. I was worried about the future of cdpr UNTIL they announced they would be using Unreal engine from hear on out. Just my 2 cents.

  11. Personally, i don't want a third-person based CP game. We have enough third-person open-world games and almost, if not all of them are toothless grind machines with poppy craft mechanics, but with good visuals. Also, in 2-3 years there will be another GTA6 and regardless of its quality (which, if you look at development leaks, can be very questionable), everyone will (again!!) comparing next CP game to GTA. It's ******g stupid, we all know it, but so are many people on internet. And, lo and behold – after GTA6 release, boom!- another game with wheeled transport with guns and urbanistic setting, and its in third-person perspective!
Maybe free switch between third and first person modes will be acceptable though, or a mix of them. Kind of like in latest Deus Exes.

  12. Yeeeaaah we are getting a new cyberpunk game, its not even a serious question, imo. And yeah Vs story is over imo, not much to add there but hopefully we get to hear about V in the future CP games since V becomes a huge player in the city or that we will atleast hear about Vs actions.

  13. I can definitely see it but likely not for another 10+ years i imagine at least, the worst part about 2077 for me is knowing most of the plot holes wont get tied up with potentially only one expansion and im not sure a sequel would work with tying all of them up.

  14. They fucked themselves by making several very different endings. I loved the game, but I'm not interested in a sequel unless it's a direct continuation of the Star ending (including Judy) which is obviously never gonna happen.

  15. I find it crazy how CP2077 has 425k+ reviews on Steam with of a score of nearly 80% mostly positive. That number of reviews is already getting close to TW3 who has been out for much, much longer, with its 550k reviews, but a score of almost 100% positive. It will definitely catch up, especially after the next few updates and expansion.. Still, CP2077 alone has more reviews than OG Skyrim and Special Edition COMBINED , which are the most modded games in the history of PC gaming, with a few billion mod downloads on Nexus Mods. And people say CDPR is in trouble… lol, I don't think it's as bad as the loud minority makes it out to be. They've got their issues, but people are definitely blowing things out of proportion.

  16. When you say CDOR have only 2ips does that mean The Molasses Flood didn't own any IPs when CDPR bought them? They also could re-release these games on playstation as a collection maybe and also generate some more income from that? From my knowing these game came only out on PC and Xbox.

  17. I wonder if there will be more cyberpunk genre games from other developers in future, influenced by the demand for this one. Perhaps in different art styles. A new Blade Runner game would be nice too.
