It’s hard to replace the primal satisfaction that comes from using shotguns in video games. Tanking through enemies like a movie action hero is nothing short of badass when wielding shotguns like a pro in Cyberpunk 2077! From the efficient and precise crusher, to the utterly unpredictable guts, Cyberpunk 2077 boasts an awesome array of shotguns!
In this video I attempt to break down and rank all 15 models from worst to best, in order to determine which are best for varying playthroughs. This list is of course my opinion, and I’m more than happy to hear how everybody elses differs from mine. But whether you agree with me or not, I hope this video provides you with a decent overview on this games shotguns, and you learn a thing or two along the way…

  1. Thanks, this was an excellent overview. Am I imagining though that the shotguns have quite little damage overall when compared to other weapons? I was surprised on how tanky those enemies seemed to be (could also just be the game difficulty).

  2. I agree with your build the Satara isn’t a great fit. It’s definitely a tech build with high Body. Less of running into the fray, (personal take is Bloody Maria, Biodyne Berserk, fully spec’d in speed and dismember) more making sure you’re positioned and behind a wall. A weird take on maximizing trench tactics and remaining a tank. Not for everyone, but a fun build if you like shotgun, and standing on roofs not easily accessed by mobs.🤣

  3. The shotguns aren’t good enough, imo, to justify reloading one shell at a time.. they so rarely one shot. To be good I really think they need to be the antithesis of snipers; high risk, no stealth, and one shots. Maybe I just need to build for them more..

  4. A few additions I'd like to point out Sam! during the Cyberpsycho Sighting: House on a Hill mission it's possible to get a Satara with a especial modifier that reduces charge time by 50% and if this modifier is stacked with various perks it's possible to get 100% reduction in charge time turning this weapon into a real monster!!!

There is also a implant that heals you every time you fire a fully charged tech weapon.

The second thing I'd like to mention is that the headsman is probably the best gun in the game for detonating grenades. Toss a grenade into a group of enemies and shoot the grenade with the headsman before they can run and BOOM a bunch of dead enemies!

  5. Wrong. The double barrel shotgun is one of the best in the game. You obviously haven't realise you need to craft the best version of the gun to get those one shot kills.

  6. Sovereign is essential for a nomad/gunslinger/man-with-no-name kind of build. But, for sheer best-of-the-best type shotties I am torn between Mox and Guts. Lolz, I'll be running around with Guts for a time then, when I switch up with Mox, I kind of feel guilty for some reason – like I'm cheating on someone.

  7. I personally love the Satara, because it’s the shotgun that V uses in the opening scene, not to mention it was in Edgerunners:)
But in all seriousness, this shotgun has helped numerous times. One thing I like to do at the start of a raid is to simply use my cloak tech, whip out the satara, then activate my sandevistan. Next thing I know, I’m blasting peoples heads off in slow-motion while the enemy is barely reacting in time to find me. That is of course if haven’t blown their heads off while I’m laughing in satanic glee😈😈

  8. I did a lot of experiments with shotguns + sandy combination myself and found out they mostly don't mesh well due to low firerate, but there are notable exceptions – Sovereign and Testera are fast to reload while L69(hehe) Zhuo is not affected by time slowing (might be a bug).

  9. One of my favorite mild trolls was machine games.. they put the double barrel shotgun with a separate ammo pool in the later half of the game and then stopped giving you ammo for the automatic shotgun.. and right about where you might be on your lowest end of that pool, they throw the split directional, where you have a bath house or a a different selection set piece fight.. having to use that, and in most of the situations by comparison, it was not ideal LOL.. but when they forced you into it LOL I kind of actually dug it because it really gives you a good appreciation for what a large magazine capacity, or semi-auto you know all of the things LOL.. contrary to this like mythic mystique of the super shotgun or something.. it definitely makes that flight interesting LOL, but once you've gone through it a few times.. eventually the first thing I end up doing every single time now is beelining to the shotgunner to get more ammo for the good one LOL.

one thing about the short double barrels and games that I really don't get.. they're always just held terribly and I get it it's awkward.. but there are so many actually cool ways you could do that, and the polar opposite of that in most situations but especially in this one is to do the pushed forward camera held off to the side.. I could be holding it but I look like I'm trying to see if there's an engraving on it while I'm holding it.. or worse when you have that iron sight zoom in modern games and then you're really really trying to see that engraving LOL this is going to end well when you shoot it.. just holding it like a regular shotgun for one would be a mile step better.. or actually just embrace the sawed off or the pistol grip no stock shotgun, which is funny cuz they actually did that for one of their guns and it's one of the rare times I've seen that in games..which cracks me up cuz it's a stockless shotgun that's held more realistically than most of the assault rifles LOL..

Turns out and I've been modding this anywhere I can ever since I finally cracked the conundrum of the Half-Life 2 shotgun.. which mostly was on valve for taking what was a pretty accurate view model depiction from the first game and then.. making it as physically impossible to be held that way by even video games LOL not even by the double standard of where your arms just change shapes depending on the kind of gun.. there's a reason that view model doesn't have another half and a three and a half foot stock LOL and it's it's not just trying to say Polly's..

It was supposed to be on help from the waste and you can see that in mirrors.. and that's all right I guess.. but you know what's real cool.. holding it out in front of you up high like a badass.. a lot of that is just cuz indexing is a lot easier, you no longer have to rely on crosshair if you don't have to get The uncanny value of when the gun doesn't look like it's aiming at the crosshair or aiming to the crosshair and not through it.. plus you're just literally holding a delete device and then pushing it into the enemy's face and deleting them..

one thing I'll give it credit for though at least they didn't get that weird field of view problem that a lot of shotguns have where the length of the device and using something like a short magazine ends up with that long skinny tube that just looks super weird.. once again a common problem when everybody's got a hold things way off to the side lol instead of you know in front of them..

I would love to believe that you could do this with a double barrel I don't I haven't messed around with it, cuz it's just kind of the last thing I would want to spend a lot of time on if there were problems with the regular shotguns LOL.. and I know in cyberpunk I've tried with the basic mods that we have for really changing the camera more than anything to make it seem like the view model isn't held horribly.. and within the restrictions of that it's, it's a low bar to not make better but.. especially if you tweaked all the other ones there's just no way you can say this makes me feel like a badass to use this LOL… This looks like I'm getting really lucky that I'm hitting anything at all and not somehow dislocating shoulders or breaking my nose.. but you know what they say in a consillitis focus development world.. if you're shotgun doesn't pass the sniff test.. when you shoot it, lower your fov until you transform into an owl with zoom vision LOL.. where the trend came from I really want to like I just.. especially with pistols too.. like like how is this how doesn't this bother people?

  10. I always treat the Achilles as a shotgun as well, it's all kind of weird with its grip being so far forward.. especially with its length.. but let's face it it's a shotgun that shoots from your rifle pool extremely fast with the semi-automatic and a doubles as a gaus rifle also.. because. Because it does LOL.. wish they had a secondary fire button instead of forcing dual functionality with the aim button.. but whenever I see robots LOL or space stuff sci-fi stuff LOL.. it's time for the space shotgun.

  11. For the tactician when you're missing shots.. it's not just you it's badly indexed.. it's one of the worst, also one of the hardest to fix using the weapon fov mod.. if you end up getting the variant through the random crafting cycle that has no stock it's going to be really hard to fix unless you really like that from the waist position.. but mostly it's just centering, with the stock version, centering and raising and extending.. I remember having like a light bulb moment when I was playing around with it, where all of the sudden those shots that I was commonly missing.. and then suddenly I didn't even need a crosshair, cuz it just made sense they were going to go where they were going to go from the way it was held.. there's a couple of guns that really screwed the pooch in this regard.. I just wish they would have treated the default stance firing position, as like a firing position.. it really gives the impression it's like you know you're supposed to aim to shoot and then you know.. especially close range with pistols they got the zoom in and everything.. and you're just kind of like.. this is unfair LOL, your standard low-ready position looks like I'm not even paying attention I'm just holding it at my stomach and firing rounds off LOL.. but aiming, and you can actually verify this LOL if you look at the third person what's actually going on with the view model composition and third person body model.. your head literally shoots forward.. it's actually really funny to watch that thing do things LOL but it kills me that that somebody thought these were good ideas and immersive somehow.. is it really is it really like that bad of an idea to make it actually look like you're actually doing the things? You know in first person? Like in the cutscenes LOL.. like turns out that's kind of nice.. and once you've seen it or done it.. it's hard to go back LOL especially if you're jumping around and moving..

It's not easy, cuz there's just just a lot of restrictions with how the mod works.. and you're kind of fighting a really difficult battle from the default position of the weapon.. but for the most part most of them can be improved significantly, and some of them can be achieved in the my unzoomed unimed default stance looks like I'm holding it and want to shoot things with it.. and then you're aimed stance also seems like you just you know cited it in a realistic and/or comfortable manner.. some of the hardest parts are getting the assault rifles to work this way.. the visual recoil is so extreme on the waist shots.. You have to pretty much go to the near edge of clipping to get them out far enough.. but if you're just comfortable with the bungee Halo garbage, or like the old stuff.. which actually had a pretty good center even if it was way too zoomed in.. you could pretty much do Halo on all of these.. it's just when you try to pull it back to look like you're actually holding it in perspective to your body that becomes problematic.. I'd really love to help work on that mod and make it better but honestly I think the way to make it better is to change the actual view model position which is what it was trying to emulate and wasn't possible at the time.. and that I'm just not sure about, but if you've seen the third person model you know it can be done because they constantly do it LOL as part of the main function and it's good God it's frustrating cuz you're just like dude.. you can look at this in third person and see what's going on in like, even if your body could move its neck and shoulders and hands like that in real life, you still wouldn't want to do that ideally to shoot LOL.

just a couple that didn't and some frustrations in the variables for instance the unity and the kinshi are held in the worst practiced all you can see is your hand.. and when you aim.. somehow you bring it closer to your face LOL? Except kinshin when aimed goes arms out.. with the zoom LOL.. whereas the unity, for some reason didn't get that privilege.. the nue and tamayura end up with the best of the same base starting point.. although also the zoom LOL.. butbut then you have something like the Lexington, which is held at what seems reasonable by comparison to the others without modification.. but when pulled back to you know like a realistic level.. actually is more like he's shooting it with both hands from the waist.. but that has a fully outstretched even with the zoom aiming hold position.. same thing with the revolvers.. and you kind of just like wait what.? So it's like somebody new what they were doing and then somebody didn't know what they were doing.. and those two never met..? Still better to have some of it than none of it I suppose.

  12. Zhuo is as much a delete button as there ever could be in a game LOL.. I've been playing this like for way too many hours possibly than I ever should have, despite never really finishing it.. over the last few years and I for the first time decided to give it a try.. and I was a little confused about it cuz I'm like wait is it firing all eight at once or what.. no no it's just an eight round delete button.. great for farming LOL..

Feels weird to use in the context of the game part though LOL.. if I'm trying to get like as much materials as possible out of an area.. so I've you know weapon glitched everybody a few times and whatnot and I'm taking a lot of rounds and everybody's upset and I finally got everybody to give as much loot as possible to the point where it's it's starting to get problematic and then you just bring out the sound and delete everything and everybody dies in like 2 seconds.. especially if you throw a phantom on there.. does regular shotgun damage but.. it also just finds all of the Target and hits all of it and hits all of it all at once lol.. as long as they're slightly in front of you.. and then hits the next one all at once all of it.. delete delete.
