In the meet with the Militech agent optional part of the Pick Up quest, the hero V may make the choice to take the chip from Meredith Stout. Then there is a further choice of wiping the daemon from the chip, or to make a copy of the daemon infecting the chip.
This will affect the outcome when the hero get to Royce leader of the Maelstromers.
