Today we are talking about the recently announced 2021 game award nominees. There was always bound to be some heated discussion and debates surrounding this as there always is but this year, something is just not right. Firstly Returnal doesn’t receive a nomination for Game of the Year despite it being one of the highest quality titles released during a weak year. But what’s truly insane is the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is in the running for best RPG…wtf?

  2. I don't even own a PS5. The only game that has been in my radar this year is mainly Returnal. This game feels unique, and its atmosphere/design feels like something from H. R. Giger and a little bit of Edge of Tomorrow (which is based on a manga). It's obscure and mysterious. You're learning alongside the character you're also controlling. This is my opinion from some gameplay and walkthrough that I've seen. I refrained myself from seeing more because I want to experience it all once when I have a PS5. I understand why some people were shocked for it to not be nominated for GOTY.

  3. This is why I can't take this stuff seriously. I haven't played it but Last of Us 2 looks like garbage compared to the 1st one and I loved Ghost of Tsushima. Now an UNFINISHED GAME (I started Cyberpunk but stopped in the middle of 1st mission until it gets patched out)

  4. Jesus it's kinda sad seeing all this bitching and whining about something that doesn't even really matter. Just cause it's not nominated doesn't change the fact it's a good game. If you liked it then that's all that matters. Doesn't mean you should start bashing other games just cause it's not what you wanted to get nominated. Pre sure half of these companies care more about sales than awards anyways lmao

  5. So the game awards are a joke and mean nothing this year, buisness as usual then. Lets face it Returnal is not on there because its not easy and does not have a game journalist mode. In regards to Cyberpunk, my husband and I picked up the game after patch 1.2 on the cheap and have not had any real bugs and performance has been great on a high end PC, we both love it but it released in a mess and even if it was perfect now which it is not there is no way it deserves to get nominated for any award, total disgrace.

  6. I was totally shocked that Returnal was not included. As stated in this video, industry wide this wasnt an incredibly strong year (that will be next year) but that game not in the running is strange. I'm not taking anything away from It Takes Two but as far as I'm concerned Returnal would have been a better choice (to me). Also, get Cyberpunk off this show. I hate this idea that mess of a game gets credit for awards when if anything it should be in the "Most botched Launch of the Year" award. Anyway, im sure the show will be good but some silly stuff going on here imo.

  7. Agreed. Wouldn’t expect the win, but it deserves a nod. It’s too difficult where I could see it win, but I would love for it as an alert in that there’s just some more diversity in gameplay

  8. Glad somebody said it. Returnal is brilliant. No idea why it isn’t on the list. In gaming since the 80’s not many games have gotten me so hooked like returnal has. It feels like a new age contra to me with an amazing story that makes you think and gameplay that’s hard to beat. Audio design, enemy design, gun design, level design is all amazing. Most people that seem to not get returnal are the ones not into that genre of scifi/horror and just don’t get past the first to third biome and quit. For people that actually took the time to get better at the game and get into the story and what’s going on with it all understand how good this game really is.

  9. Cyberpunk being nominated for best rpg is a very far stretch. the music selection for cyberpunk was worthy of the nomination. People still looking at the bugs and launch of the game still haven’t played the game most likely for good reasons but if you still say that, you need to play the game if you can or watch it. Returnal was a huge snub, not surprised by TGA the last few years…
