Welcome one and all to another dive into what once was… or what actually was in the game, or what was actually developed but never/barely used? I don’t even know myself anymore, things get confusing the deeper you go.

With the help of a little mod, we are able to spawn in hundreds of Cyberpunk 2077 objects, many of which are unused or never intended to be seen. So naturally, let’s begin this deep dive with some E3 models that were built for the game’s 2018 demo.

  1. The fat dude and the pregnant woman can be seen in the official trailer of the game,it's interesting that they made them ONLY to show them on the trailer and only for a few seconds.

  2. I'll again try and give a bit of context:

    – Why so shiny? I dont have full knowledge of why, but in 2018/2019 there was a bigger overhaul with the crowd system, including how materials are handled. Since theny these models simply continued to use the same shader that got broken after some time but no one cared cause why would we? They arent used anymore.

    – they look better than other NPCs! Incredible what placebo can achieve. No they dont, there is very little difference to the models created later on.

    – "You dont find them ingame": yes you can. They were almost all ported to the "newer" system. Some of them were cut / reduced a bit like the "freak" model (guy with no eyes, only sensors and bald head) cause they were a bit too extreme (also cause we wanted maelstrom to be even more distinct and weird)

    – "the pregnant woman is not in game": she is, though not in its original concept version. She was reused during one of the beat on the brat gigs.

    – redneck fat guy: using during e3 2018 reveal trailer, the redneck dude with the gauss shotgun.

    – subway fat male: afaik this one might have been used on the elevator to the watson / h10 metro station.

  4. Ok, some of these were definitely in the actual E3 trailer, not just the 48 minute one. The pregnant woman, she appears near the end of the trailer with the big guy before I think charging up a shotgun and she's in the background. Same with that respirator, there's a gang member that wears that in the trailer, they're holding up a vendor stall.
Also that borged out dude near the beginning, three identical ones also appear in the trailer in the back of the Taxi cab, probably what the Taxi interior is.

  5. I'm not 100% certain but if you're using ray traced reflections, that could be why they're shiny. There's a bug in the game where certain sun conditions and ray traced reflections create this shiny effect. In my most playthrough after 2.0, I had this bug a lot, especially when doing Panam missions out in the desert. Turning off ray traced reflections fixes this issue, but makes the game look generally worse so I'd only do it for videos like this where it's more about showcasing the character model rather than the game world.

Not entirely sure if that's what's happening here, but figured I'd suggest it.

  6. wa is a common in the gamefiles for watson characters and props.
So I expect the 2 letter abbreviations to be about that. mb = megabuildind, wa = watson (outside?)

Also, the shinyness might have to do with the rendering pipeline. Iirc, there's two common pipelines which store additional lighting information in the alpha layer (opacity) of the texture. One of which uses that layer as shinyness, the other as shadow intensity iirc.
Those are just some memories from uni though. A 3d or tech artist will know more there.

  7. Cp2077 final npc's really suck, especially since the e3 2018 ones are so much better. They are handd crafted and have outfits that people would actually wear. Cp2077 nowadays has shitty randomised characters with random genders like male, female, nonbinairy bs

  8. The reason some models doesn’t spawn and/or crash the game is cause their missing parts.
But that redneck and pregnant lady were in that trailer for E3 that was just animation than gameplay.
The police AV, we saw it for a few seconds at a distance in the E3 trailer. It looked like it was modeled from the Bladerunner police vehicles.

  9. honestly on the topic of object spawner i wonder if this would be better for building than AMM tbh it has alot of nice things like elevators [only one works than one that was near metal heaven but maybe you can get them to work somehow who knows] it seemingly has no floors though to my knowledge inless i gotta be stupidly specific in what i search for.

  10. If it makes it more interesting there’s a few e3 cars you can find in the files that are used as props, I wanna see if someone can restore them and make those drivable
