I really appreciate the VDBs they're all about taking care of there community. Yes they are gang and black wall stuff is a terrible idea. But I appreciate them in general
I really hate what they did to Evelyn Parker
I appreciate what they do for their community, but if they continue to poke holes in the black wall, humanity will be doomed by the hands of the Rogue AI's. That's why I chose to side with netwatch despite them also being backstabbers, but they are a lesser evil compared to the voodoo boys.
Something to appreciate they keep everything in the gang/family
Their idea was smart, but VERY misguided. They assume the Alt AI would actually hold a bargain with them, but they said it themselves, AI don't think like people. What happens if their alien logic dictates "survival from the AI cyberspace war" is being absorbed into the Alt AI's mega conscious. She deems that as the ideal prospect of "survival" for V. We learn from one of the VDB's relatives if you did Love Rollercoaster and spared the VDB at the end of I Walk the Line that NOBODY has heard from Bridgitte's specific crew since, and that making a deal with an AI is "similar to a monkey's paw, you ask them to make you smaller, so they take your head."
Edit: i know im paraphrasing.
"Smartest"
VB: "Hey, ranyon is talking with NetWatch agent we just wanted to jack with virus, lets skip rudimentary scan because what could possibly go wrong anyway?"
VB: "Let's contact with entities for whom concept of honor might be nonexistent, they will surely keep their part of the bargain once they win and we outlive our usefullness."
VB: "Oh, ranyon back from behind the BlackWall? Hooo-boy! Let's antagonize him even farther, nevermind he survived Kompeki hell and at this point has kill count bigger than Arasaka's creditworthiness."
The Voodoo Boys (in the base game), I will call Voodoo 'Doomers', or 'Zealots'.
I will agree that they're smart, very smart when it comes to netrunning and perceiving threats.. But they are not the best strategists. Despite their best efforts to contact Alt Cunningham, this plan was built on a foundation that can't hold water (pun intended): stealing the prototype Relic chip with Johnny Silverhand's engram and using its code to contact her.
This was their master plan, and it could've failed at any point. Because of V's predicament, was their plan capable of getting as far as it did, which just as easily could've ended right then and there.
Should they be wary of the rogue AIs who prowl beyond the Blackwall? Absolutely.
Unlike the other gangs of Night City, the Voodoo Boys (the 'Doomers') are most aware of the biggest threat to humanity, and like the great flood which decimated their homeland, perceive it too, as an inevitability. Even as ridiculous as it sounds as a gang trying to contact a rogue AI for amnesty against the great digital flood, one should also keep in mind that the Blackwall was actually made through Netwatch after making contact with a few rogue AIs. Some might say that it IS possible to establish this long sought 'lifeboat in the flood', though it is unlikely.
The Doomers seem to have a good idea in the works, but haven't done all the mapping out of the proper steps or developed contingency plans. They cling to this one plan almost on faith alone, and I find that most alarming. It does, however, tie into the Doomers' greatest weakness: hubris.
They want to be the first to acquire knowledge, if not the only ones to do so. It was the wealthiest in Haiti who knew first of their country's woes, and the most prepared, but how many of their people did they save from the great flood? The Voodoo Boys, too, think so little of outsiders, that they consider all outside help as a 'one-time' partner, before discarding them like a floor rag, instead of establishing a powerful alliance with mercs or even other gangs. And in a war, in this case, a war against the machines, having no allies leaves one completely exposed.
Good video, as always.
they actually are idiots. Since vodoo boys betrayed v 🙂 We know what happens next…
Placide is stupid, Madam B even says so
