In today’s video, we take a look at a Smart Sniper build. This build focuses on using the Ashura sniper rifle and Fenrir along with a 4.5-second cooldown Sandevistan MK.5 that basically allows you to stay in time dilation while you take out your enemies before they even know what hit them.

  1. Big ups for the jack-of-trades builds. I figured out after my last playthrough that a 20/20/20/8/3 build was OP on very hard with minimal effort so I decided to avoid topping out on my latest build. I went B13/R12/18/I16/C12 because the tech tree is my favorite part of the game so far, but your solution is perfectly valid, especially for a blade focused character. Regardless, thanks for your thoughtful builds. At this stage, yours are the ones that spark new ideas reliably and I appreciate it.

  2. Your description needs updating.
I'd personally start with 6 Int, 6 Cool and 4 Reflex, put your first Attribute Point into Cool and get Assassin, +15% damage to 99% of what you'll fight from all sources (hacks, blades and guns which you'll likely rely a lot on until you can optimise this build) and by mid game you'll melt non-human targets with Short Circuit. You can focus on Reflex or Int first depending on if you view this as a hacking build first and katana build second (e.g. use a lot of Contagion, Short Circuit, Overheat etc) or a Katana build first with a bit of support hacking (e.g. Reboot Optics). Going Int first means getting Legendary hacks sooner, and Visual Cortex and Limbic System benefit both hacking and blades, so that's an argument for going Int first.

I'd also go 18 Tech, I'd say being able to craft your own legendaries (including boost Iconics up to legendary), Field Technician (which buffs ALL weapon stats except attack speed, not just damage like it says), and Waste Not Want Not are likely worth whatever you'd sacrifice in Body (not to mention the extra armour from the Attribute, can craft epic Armadillos, craft better healing items etc)

You took Steel and Chrome, which IMO being able to craft legendaries (and +5% to all their key stats except attack speed) would serve you much better. Epimorphosis is pretty garbage. If you craft rare Bounce Backs they heal 25% HP + 6% HP/sec over 30s (45s with Innovation) up to 100% with no delay, and a $5 food item (and you'll loot plenty of them) gives you out of combat regen up to 100% for 30-45min (plus Deathbolt and Heal on Kill), so to me, pretty much all HP regen perks are pretty pointless. You can unlock Invincible and Pack Mule at 3 Body (which is what my build has).

I would get +5% crit eye mod (you should get Critical Error, and +5% crit will boost your hacks even if your blade is at +100% crit). I'd grab a Heal On Kill that you can use for some tougher fights. You have enough Reflex to use the Legendary Micro Rotors, and you may be better off with Microvibration Generator and Dense Marrow rather than Micro Rotors, as with Predator at max Cold Blood and a bunch of other things that boost attack speed, it may be difficult to gain the full benefit from melee attacks speed, and it may be unpleasant to try to spam your attacks that fast.

I'd get Metabolic Editor or Inductor for Immune System. They not only grant immunity to poison/shock but also buff you (+12% HP/sec and +50% armour) including from your own grenades. You can also get Heat Converter for the Integumentary System that buffs you (+10% damage) from fire damage you take (again, including from your own grenades). Grab an Immunity to bleed clothing item (or with 12 Body you can get the Cyberware in the Integumentary System that grants Immunity to bleed) and you're immune to basically all status effects. I'd grab Synaptic Accelerator rather than Nanorelays. You might say that you're rarely detected, but by that logic there's no point in getting any health perks. I'd use more hacks than just Reboot Optics, especially Contagion if you get Critical Error and Cold and Calculating (as that means you can gain 5 stacks of Cold Blood within a few seconds of a fight starting).

The nice thing about Mantis blades is you can switch the damage type in the field to suit what enemies are vulnerable to (you can't really do that with Katanas unless you carry around multiple ones, which would require you to fully upgrade and mod them to max effectiveness).

  3. So, 4 out of my 7 playthroughs thus far have been with "ninja" builds, and here is my question: why are you speccing into hacking at all? So most times with my ninja it's a couple opening stealthed headshots on the patrol or lookout mob(s) (doing so while hidden/crouched or not, it really doesn't matter–heads still go pop either way so long as they're unaware of you), and then charge in–Kerenizkov fires up–pop those who are closest as they're the ones who typically proc Kerenizkov–the second that drops–pop Sandevistan and lay waste to everything else. Now ones' reaction maybe, "But that's not from stealth!", and to that I say, "Wrong.", because you're moving in so fast–so long as you're taking out the mobs either just being alerted to you BUT HAVE NOT YET SPOTTED YOU and thus the rest have yet to be alerted to you granting you the opportunity to still super speed right up to them and take'em out before they even react to you; all of that will still count as being from stealth and getting stealth xpeez as a result. And sense with high Reflex and a descent katana you're going to be one-shotting pretty much everything–it makes any form of hacking irrelevant and inefficient.

  4. You start the game with a reboot optics so need to purchase it or farm it unless you want to farm for the legendary version. Oh and I love that this isn't just another slow time kill everyone build.
