  1. Happy New Year Chooms! I hope you all enjoyed and please let me know all your thoughts down below. Including your resolutions of course 🙂

Edit: CHOOMS idk where this miscommunication is coming from but Adam Smasher is a high functioning Cyberpsycho and is so unempathetic he's not even assigned a 0. He is not a chill dude

  2. I personally adore the metaphor of Cyberpsychosis and addiction – they run in tandem with each other I feel. Chasing that high, the getting better, just… one…. more… gig… etc etc. It's a powerful parallel to the times as they are now for many. No cyberware tho, just struggles.

  3. Great job as usual choom! In my head cannon, during the game (Vs fade to black adventure as I put it) I’ve always played him as a high functioning cyber psycho. You have to interact with only a few people in a city that big to move the game forward.
I mean you kill around a thousand people in a playthrough. And not with WMDs.
Preem content as usual choom. I really wish for you that CDPR approaches you for an npc performance or some sort of Easter egg shard.
    Happy New Years my choom!

  4. Wow, I've been playing for a month and had no idea the radio had speeches like shown. That's what I get for turning them off as soon as I started playing. Don't Worry, my V who clears rooms with her fists without music could never be a cybersyco.

  5. my theory or headcanon (for make sense immersion-wise) that V can shows early onset of cyber psychosis via the edgerunner perk is likely due to their self-discipline in giving up themselves to the urges for a brief period of time. considering its a perk shows that it is an acquired skillset you unlock and not a fault that just happens, it would point more in the direction that it is intentional of V. with the help of johnny, the relic, and other probable factors why V is able to sustain from cyber psychosis because of the relic such as losing piece of their humanity when they die and rebooted, i think V is just moreso in control of cyber psychosis rather than being immune. with this belief, i think V is able to allow themselves to succumb to cyber psychosis and then reboot themselves shortly after like if you were to use the blackwalls power and then quickly patch up the hole you made in it. The longer you succumb to it, however, the more fatal i believe it would prove for V, which is why the fury state only lasts for some seconds.

  6. If Smasher and Maxtac are high functioning psychos, V might be the most high functioning. All V does is kill. Kills for the NCPD bounties, for fixers, for missions, side missions, etc. V is a super killer but has the direction (and plot armor) to never labelled as a flat out psycho, like the guys Regina sends us after.
In a way, whenever the player buys a new offensive power and wants to see what kinda damage it can do, or simply gets bored, and splatters people, that is the non-canonical V cyberpsycho attack

  7. Well, about the end and edgerunner perk… This perk is optional. If you don't get it, you won't have those "rage" moment.
Pre 2.0 there were no cyberware capacity and edgerunner perk and devs were adamant right before the launch that V can't become cyberpsycho.
I actually think V shouldn't increase their cyberware capacity through shards (like in game) but with bonds and connections. Like every positive-ish big convo with Johny could increase it. Forming bonds and relationships could increase them too. So like if V refuses to help Panam/Judy/Kerry/River they don't get bonus cyberware capacity. (I know it would probably be way harder to program, but it would make more sense)

  8. The truth about cyberpsychosis is that it is a balancing mechanism. A way for the game runner to keep his players from chroming up until all challenges short of Adam Smasher become trivial. A way to keep them from becoming superheroes rather than punks. Which has left the lore scrambling to come up with a justification after the fact.

  9. what if the player is to v what the hand is to johnny, as in the player is the manifestation of v's cyberpsycho tendencies

that way you can explain the choices that each player made, and not just the story choices but also the gameplay choices too, like shooting to kill vs shooting to disable, the player can be a genocidal maniac thoughout night city, treating the gameworld as that much, a game world, or the player can choose to empathize with the characters and even regular npcs, that way making v less prone to cyberpsychosis

  10. Shamsher already has ASPD in that he’s a fucking psychopath even before getting chromed up, a lot of people are saying that’s a big reason why he doesn’t develop cyber psychosis, his brain is already abnormal, he already has zero empathy to lose, and his psychopathy allows him to kill people without restraint from morals. It also probably provides him an outlet for any anger or other emotions, that he doesn’t have to fight because he just readily gives in to those violent impulses (within a rational frame work, he’s not going to kill his employer if they piss him off, he’ll just take it out on some other poor bastard) all of these factors contribute to a perception that smasher is a high functioning cyberpsycho.

  11. My V did half the gigs in the game with just a throwing knife. I later switched to the butcher. Pretty sure V can be RP'ed as a cyberpsycho and reflects the player's feelings towards the people of night city and the game it's self.

  12. Alright chooms, come along for a thought experiment with me.

Sandra Dorsett is part of NightCorp's involvement in research on applied blackwall AI that is causing cyberpsychosis. Whatever V's background, they link with Sandra and gets spiked, and there is no way around it

I submit to you that V's cyberpsychosis begins right then, and there, when they are infected by a weaponized blackwall AI. They go to a back alley ripperdoc and get the maelstrom malware removed from their system, but a back alley ripperdoc, especially a fully organic one, is not going to be able to detect a weaponized blackwall AI that can react trillions of times faster than a human and willfully hide itself… and YOU, my dear choom, are roleplaying that AI who is suddenly aware of V's recent memory and thrust unaware into the world of NC to influence your host's perceptions. The AI engram is resilient against the effects of the relic, and persists whether or not V does at the end of the game. This explains why V can pierce the Blackwall through the voodoo BBS without cooking, why they're not immediately taken over by Canto, why Spider gets cooked and V doesn't, why songbird can connect to us through a relic by pushing Johnny aside, and why every AI you encounter seems to know everything the player would. Data knows Data. V is a rogue AI that vaguely remembers flashes of a couple months before jacking into Sandra Dorsett, but is forgetting things like childhood.

It also explains why V doesn't seem to perish in any of the endings from this ostensibly terminal illness. I would argue we died before walking into Konpeki plaza.

  13. Companies creating built in defects is a perfect analogy for why it exists in the game: a balancing system for the DM.

the humanity system itself implies there’s some mental/predisposed factor, and if you can in theory “restore” someone’s humanity it would reverse it like in universe suggests.

i love how perfectly the in game theories and the real life lore mesh up so well

  14. I don't like the "cyberpsychosis is fake" theories, because it's obviously real, say what you want, but replacing your body with cold metal parts cannot be good for your mental health, glad you shed some light on this topic.

  15. Great video. Funny after watching this I did mission where you find Evelyn and there was a shard there called “Beyond The Border of Empathy” talking about how War Footage BDs will make empathy irrelevant. Definitely ties into the theme of the video

  16. I like to personally believe the player is V's cyberpsychosis. V isn't in control of their own actions, we are, all the time, every single time it isnt a cut scene. V simply tags along for the ride, unaware that there are actually 2 people inside their head: Johnny Silverhand and the player.

  17. something occured to me…. prompted by a real life occurence and some fandom theories. Here it comes: in real life, Windows has a weird habit of making computers slower over time by adding unremovable bloatware in updates the user cannot prevent. And there is a chain of thought among those in the fandom writing fanfics: for the non-corpo users of cyberware, driver mismatches happen a lot, and there is no way for a streetdoc to get that fixed (assuming they even know it happens). So, what if not only driver mismatch but malicious code getting put in with software updates are one of the symptoms of early cyberpsychosis?

  18. good video as always man I also have my own Theory on cyber psychosis.my theory is Max tech is in on it fuel at the corporations in Max tech have a deal.the corporations can continue to make implants to sell to the general mass population but knowing that there is defects in the implants a king cause cyber psychosis like the implant has expiry date. when the expiry date hits that person gives cyber psycho.but that is sort of a way of curing it it must take who's a key to reprogram people's brains .the reason why I think this is because when someone goes cyber psycho it shows to Max tech that how capable they are as a killer machine how they can use them as the next soldier.in The Corporation so they try to apprehend the suspect and try to reprogram them some being successful some not being as successful .

  19. To me its just any other pyschosis or mental break except in this case the person has augmented capapility to do harm. Not always necessarily the chrome itself but can play a part and just as well even directly be the cause of trauma.

  20. I'm writing a fanfiction of an OC who's David Martinez's best friend but unlike David my OC is scared of Chipping up because of Cyberpsychosis which is part of my OC's personal tragedy.

  21. I hate you can only redo your points once. I got 16 intelligence in wish i could dump into body which is 5. Everything else is 20 of course, and i am so about sandevistan. Makes net running boring, so i literally use zero intelligence perks ever. I'm level 60…. Such a waste even though i tend to do well on very hard even w body 5, just want the adrenaline perk. So mad at myself

  22. From doing the 20 cyberpsycho missions, I thought the entire point is that cyberpsychosis doesn't exist, that every single one of them has their own individual problems that cause them to do what they did. It's a fiction invented by the media. Reminds me of "Super Predators" in the 90's.
