I haven’t played Cyberpunk 2077 since I wrapped it up on the Series X, so here’s what it was like returning to Cyberpunk on the Steam Deck. Honestly it’s crazy how well it performs on the Deck, but here’s a look at the performance, stability of the game itself after a rocky launch, and my personal enjoyment from diving back into Night City.

  1. I've been on the fence about getting this for the Steam Deck since I have it on PS5 but the latest update added cross platform saves so I can play at my desk then take my save anywhere so now it's a no brainer for me!

  2. I honestly don’t know why anyone plays this game. The attention to detail is pathetic and the story is linear with little side missions that are interesting. Also all the problems it had a launch combines to make it a game I will never pay for or play

  3. CP is a terrible RPG, that's the point – it's not the bugs that made it bad. It's the RPG being shallow like an puddle. Lifepaths doesn't matter at all outside of the intro. No choices or builds really matter – it's a shooter and no matter what you pick – you will be killing people with malee being only alt to guns.. Calling it "RPG first" is a bit of a stretch, it's a glorified looter-shooter if you consider how much junk you have to recycle. Litearlly almost all missions are combat focused and have no other solution – that's not an RPG. Deus EX games are RPGs. It's hard to believe this came from a team that made Witcher with its deep story and great side quests. If you play CB knowing how many times its def was rebooted and restarted – you can see the steams of its design where a lot of systems don't work well together. The loot felt like an afterthought and before the last update you would look like a homeless hobo if you wanted a loot that had good stats (as there was no transmog). Even the basic stuff like the slo-mo was implemented so oddly that when you enter it – even your own guns is shooting slower. Which is kinda kinda odd as the idea of a bullet-time style mechanics (from MP to Fear) is to gen not slow down your own gun as much and let you enjoy the slo-mo mayhem. I don't know – to me this game is a wasted opportunity and not because i had my expectations set too high – it's because i was expecting an actual RPG.

  4. Argh, unlucky timing with 1.6 and the new performance values. Pretty damn good timing though due to the new hype around the game – good job! That being said: 1.6 is a Godsend for me personally – as it next to a proper Steam Deck preset introduced crossprogression. I can play on my PS5 via Chiaki at home and continue V's adventures natively on the Deck on the run with the same savegame. That's huge! Finger's crossed for proper FSR 2.0 support soon…

  5. I played CP 2077 on launch, and while I understand people’s negative reactions to the bugs, it ran fine on my Xbox one and I played – and enjoyed – around 8 hours before moving on to other games once the patches started coming out. Have been trying to decide whether or not to put it on my Deck (arrives Friday! Woohoo!) my only hesitation is that since I have an XBox, so may use my Deck only for games I can’t play on my XBox. But if there really is the option for cross-platform saves, it’d be a no brainer. Thanks for this breakdown of how it runs on the Deck, love your take on gaming on Steam Deck.

  6. CDPR’s biggest mistake was releasing this for last-gen consoles. They ended up with something that was actually OK on reasonably powerful PCs or the mid-cycle refresh consoles (series X, PS4 Pro), but which had absolutely no business running on older hardware.

I feel like the cyberpunk launch was console gamers being introduced to the very PC experience of trying to run a game below the minimum system requirements.

  7. Just discovered your channel, very professional content, easiest subscribe ever. Received my SD at beginning of April, I have NEVER played more games since owing this. Not having to sit at a specific gaming station (PC desk, or in front of TV), and still play all the same games currently available on a console…?? The SD is incredible for what it is. I have kids and a typical domesticated life lol… and being able to sit in the same room when relaxing with the fam and game is nice, plus this helps drown out the sounds from Paw Patrol and Baby Boss…

  8. Jumping in for the first time! In fact, I've never been particularly interested in cyberpunk (as shooters aren't particularly interesting to me personally), but your review here sounds dope! And the RPG element! with the net runner idea.

  9. I bought Cyberpunk on sale for 30 dollars on my PC months and months ago, and IMMEDIATELY got 50+ hours out of the game within the first 3 days I owned it. I was obsessed. This game needs to be picked up by many more people than it has touched, because of bad launch issues.

  10. I originally played it on the Xbox One X and didn't think it was that bad. Couple crashes and some bugs but decided to put it down and wait. Haven't picked it up yet. I just heard it's not getting anymore patches on old consoles. Thought about buying it on the Deck when it's on sale. I should be paying for my Deck by the end of the month.

  11. I'm surprised at how well it seems to run on the Deck! This was the 1st game that I've put in my PS5 when I bought the console in October of last year because I had tried it on my PS4 Pro but I got some serious glitches so I stopped and decided to wait… and I wasn't disappointed at all! In fact I really enjoyed it! It was a catastrophic launch but with the updates and patches they did the game runs really well now! I just wished that they had waited an additional year before releasing it at least so that it gets a better reception! I can't wait to play the Expension that they just announced! Also I'm going to replay it with the PS5 version once the Expension releases! Great video and keep up the good work!

  12. the steam deck in overall is great with few minor things which can be rectified in its future iteration models e.g. IO ports, smaller bezel, a bit bigger battery and hopefully a CPU with igpu performance similar to gtx 1650, overall 1080p low settings performance or higher…

  13. Concerning battery life people shouldn't play for more than 1.5-2 hours anyway. It's good to take a break. The Deck charges quickly as well. Take care of other areas of your life for a few hours then come back and it'll be fully charged for another round of game play.

  14. Originally when this came out I was waiting to buy a 3080 before playing it. I never would have guessed how bad the shortage will be. Now I can get a 3080 but torn between waiting for 40 series. As a result I still haven't played cyberpunk. 🙃 I think the effects of the gpu shortage on this game specifically can't be understated.
