This week, Cyberpunk 2077’s long-awaited 1.2 update went live, enabling the use of ray tracing with an AMD RX 6000-series graphics card… we benchmark every RDNA 2-based GPU to find out how just how well Big Navi can perform when ray tracing is enabled.

  1. Thanks for the hard work Dominic, these are a lot of benchmarks.

I root for AMD to be competitive, but i'm not a fanboy, this is ridiculous. They want to charge almost the same price while having even more of a gimmick ray tracing, less high resolution performance and no DLSS competitor. If it wasn't for the GPU shortage, AMD wouldn't get away with this. They gained some CPU market share and are acting like they are on the undisputable top. I can't wait for the mining boom to crash.

  2. Weird. I wonder what I'm doing different. At 4k I'm seeing the kind of numbers you are seeing at 1080 on my 6900XT without CAS on. I thought it seemed like it was running better than it should, especially when everybody says CP is such a hard game to run. I'm going to look into my settings closer when I get home to see what I'm doing differently.

  3. there is no sense in comparing ray tracing with dlss , this is absurd , unless you want to make advertisment for nvidia … but speaking about RT , dlss has nothing to do here this is bs … dlss is upscaling so you don't even compare to the same resolution …

  4. RT is a gimmick! I personally don't care about the reflections. DLSS is what matters. Hopefully so is FSR. Without the RT, the AMD cards are comparable to Nvidia's. Cyberpunk doesn't favor AMD when it comes to RT at all. RT is rubbish. You should do a video on DLSS and FSR (when it comes out).

  5. I'm waiting for the consoles to start doing amazing ray tracing with similar hardware.
Oh but consoles get closer to the metal blah blah .
Mantel/Vulkan/DX12 gets PC's closer to the metal ? Whatever happened to that ?
Guess we'll wait and see how bad the stank gets with ancient console hardware doing ray tracing back flips .
    Sniff sniff πŸ’©πŸ’©

  6. DLSS and AMDs eventual equivalent technology is definitely key to gaming etc going forward. I’m just waiting, like always, for some Nvidia fanboy to come out swinging saying RT is the future and we’re all wrong!πŸ€¦πŸ€¦πŸ€£πŸ˜… great review Dom as always πŸ‘πŸ₯°.

  7. So you get 54 fps on 3090 and 47 on 3080 medium rt(not high rt like you expect on 1500 ish card + 50% price now) and is ok? And some have a problem with 28-30 fps on xt amd cards? what i miss here is ok to play a game under 60 fps on your shinny 1440 p 144 mhz monitor yuk. I for one i turn it off enjoy the game @ 1440 p 80 fps with my brand new card (insert 60 series or 30 series don't matter)
The title of the video is funny to me can AMD compete? ok with what? I really hope amd will double the performance next year so nvidia stop feed us performance with a tiny spoon but @ +50% increase prices. Thanks amd for bringing resizable bar to nvidia:)

  8. I played CP with all RT options enabled back at launch and had an acceptable amount of performance due to DLSS. RT adds a lot of fidelity imo, it's not necessary but I can't imagine playing without RT in any game that supports it.

  9. Please change the way you present the data. Make it simples to know which are amd vs nvidia and make the rt vs non rt chart separate dont mix them it s freaking hard to read the information. I would rather read all the non rt perf and then check the rt and compare.
