  1. man, say what you want about the game but you can't deny the character work is top tier. Such great characters in this game who you grow to love. all of the major story characters are so fleshed out and feel like real people living in NC. Especially Judy and Panam ❤️ Even smaller characters like Brendan have such great personalities and stories. Big fan of the character writing in this game.

  2. 25:00 I really liked the ending of Brendan's questline. It touches the "what is a person?" theme, yet it doesn't do it in the boring "what-seems-like-a-thing-is-actually-a-person" theme. Instead, it does the opposite: throughout the whole questline you get persuaded that Brendan is a real person, but in the end, they directly tell you he is really not.

    He is no more than a "convo-emulating algorithm" – a chatbot, translated to normal English. Just an advanced chatbot, absolutely nothing more. When it says it worries about your feelings, it does really not. It only follows simple instructions "human being tells sad thing -> pronounce 'I worry about you' "

    This also touches the Turing's test (which computer programs have still not passed, but are really close to it). When it was first invented, it was thought to be an absolute test of whether a machine has got personality.

    But now anyone who thinks about it enough would tell you that Turing's test doesn't actually check this at all. It only checks how believable the chatbot is, not how person-y is it. There is a huge difference.

    The moral of the story? Well, don't think that everything that behaves like a human truly has a personality. Gonna become useful once, I guess… around 2090.

  5. Judys patience finally pays off btw. Johnny side questline is pretty long so it's worth knocking out his quests at a steady pace from what I remember you have 8 more quests to do in his storyline.

  6. I am worried about the double Judy character. It's a bug that – when it happens – can be difficult to fix if it persists. You can try to fix it with a save editor as most of the holocalls are controlled by quest facts prefixed with holo_. Wish I could identify who, but it was a dark-skinned average build male with a buzzcut. Possibly Dennis, from that office reference quest?

    Also, double check that your save editor is up-to-date.

You just pretend talking like a random person and people start believing you're a person, though you look like a vending machine and obviously never had to live a human life with human worries. It's a vending machine! With smart simulation of friendliness, nothing more. It cares about nothing!
