Lead Quest Designer plays Cyberpunk 2077! #12

After facing multiple threats in Night City we went to Afterlife to meet Rogue, who promised to organize help and information. She got us a contact to Panam Palmer – a Nomad outcast, who might be able to help us.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world RPG that I have co-created. As I love talking about design, storytelling and psychology in games, I have started streaming on Twitch and discussing it all with my audience.

My goal is to share everything I have learned over a decade in AAA games industry, openly exchange ideas, explain creative decisions and encourage the next generation of game designers and storytellers to create.

  1. I enjoy watching your streams pawel, I hope you guys make that comeback soon and change everybody's minds about the game, and I have a small question do you guys intend to restore that original female v look from the trailers?

  2. hope you can reinvite your guest coworker who, in a previous episode, correctly observed that the police are no different from any other violent gang. that guy knows what's up! relatedly, why can't we use quickhacks to zap the pigs?

  3. The world behind Geralt on the Artwork looks good. Graphical improvements can be seen. Funny thing is, that Geralt looks quite bloated in the face, compared to the original. Like he is just out of bed, or has consumed too much coffee, sugar, beer and salt at the same time. The skin around the nose is hanging more down considerably, than it was before.

  4. Thank you for the wonderful stream Pawel. I started playing Vampire: the Masquerade at your recommendation and am loving it so far. I also re-played Disco Elysium and am more convinced than ever that you would enjoy it immensely.

  5. Q. Grand Theft Auto 5 is how old,yet it has a more advanced AI system, traffic.npc managent collision system, better police respond system, better NPC reactions,so why is CP2077 way behind that ?.And why are there no motorcycles riding on the road or highways, apart from possibly V's ?

  6. The interesting thing about Judy and Panam is that they are enough intriguing characters to elicit different reactions from players. Some people love Judy and say that Panam is just constantly getting angry and screaming, others love Panam and think that Judy is too edgy, too much worried about everything, etc. I believe that this is even better than the universal delight, because it means that the character is not so simple that you can like/hate her immediately. 🙂

  7. Hey Pawel, I had a friend ask this in that stream you uploaded on YT. Did you ever happen to find out if Panam has a tattoo? The one we have seen (sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't) is an unfinished diamond under her right breast.

  8. Hi, can you guys please add the following to game ,think would be great if so.
    Walk button.
Option to sit on chairs and places where npcs can.
Eating /drinking animations to consumables for more immersive experience. Or at vendors ,hotels etc.
Ripper docs upgrade animations like in mission at viktor when we first install upgrade…for more immersion.
Please add transports we can hop in and just travel and enjoy night city views, like metro, subway, buses?
Some trauma team interactions or memberships to buy ,they come and take us when we flatlined..
Similar to police system.need lot of improvement.
Make night city more alive pls. Thanks
Edit: and pls bring back default female v preset back from 2018. demo

  9. For question someone asked , game is not what advertised ,he actually means the diner trailer, its kinda false advert, no option to buy house ,no we cant shoot from inside car or bike. In trailer its advertised..in diner trailer. Nor that fixer is in the game from diner trailer.
Edit: maybe it was cuz the diner trailer supposed to release later to advert expansion? Thats what i can guess.

  10. Night City Really is Breathtaking, most gamers dont understand the development process, in my opinion you guys did a great job on making a open world city of this scale that look beautiful….
Looking forward and hoping to be see cyberpunk back in game someday with all its glory. Keep up the good work and keep improving ,never give up.

  12. Meredith Stout was also my favorite. Imagine if she never died. Meredith Stout pleads for protection to Kang Tao by defecting. News anchor Gillian Jordan broadcasts it live to the public while NCPD covers it up with the help of Kang Tao. . This would create an amazing comeback for her in which we meet her again but deeper into the darker world of Kang Tao.

  13. I too would love to know what CDPR specifically promised, but never delivered in CP2077. I saw the 2018 demo, the 2019 demo, the 5 hour long playthrough that influencers got.access to, the in-game previews from the Night City Wire…..& the game looks pretty much exactly like what I saw in those demos…..which is more than many other publishers will show off.
Oh, & that is coming from someone who definitely still wants to see more refinements for the game-like traffic/crowd AI, & the NCPD.

  14. To be honest, I'm not sure I want you to telegraph the consequences any more than they already are. Nor do I expect my choices to have City-level consequences (though I do think my choices changed the outcome of a Mayoral election 😉). I guess that's just me then?
As for DLCs, whilst I am very keen to see what's on offer, I am content to wait until they're fully cooked 🙂.

  15. Talking about companions, I'm actually glad that the game did it this way, considering that the overall tonality of the game post Act 1 is supposed to convey somewhat a sense of loneliness, in such a crowded city, and the game absolutely nails that.

  16. When it comes to DLC, its the little things I am holding out for. I'd especially like to have more conversation options with Judy, Panam, Claire, River etc after we're done with their various quest-lines…..especially if we've formed a romantic attatchment with them. With Claire, for example, if I visit Afterlife after the car races, I'd love to be able to chat to her about it when she's behind the bar. Just as an example.

  18. Thanks you SO MUCH again for reading my comment about Mitch and the Aldecaldos, and for taking the time to talk about how you guys built small NPCs! Your streams are always so interesting, it's a pleasure to learn some of the Behind the scene stuff

  19. Can someone who catches the next stream, please ask… What was the hardest lie to tell during all the interviews you did prior to the launch of the game. We know your company lied cause your getting hit with the lawsuit. Does your loyalty to your income out weigh your ability to tell the truth? Either legally or personally? There is something wrong with this guy, I doubt he even knows what the truth is anyways.

    Edit*
Not trolling I appreciate what he is trying to do and feel bad that a Dev as devoted as he appears is having to deal with both the keep it up guys types and the more cynical like myself. Tho I am sure I am more opinionated than most. My statements were more general to people in his position and not him as a person as I do not know him, after reading some replies, I realized my comment may have had a more critical vibe than I meant and that’s my bad.

  23. I was thinking why so many players see Cyberpunk2077 as a downgrade from Witcher 3 in story/quests departament. Witcher being more simple and older game etc. Outside of players liking fantasy genre more than cyberpunk i think there are 2 importand factors to it. Established main character and first person perspective.
CDPR has amazing character writing team. It would be much better if V had set personality and gender/looks. Not this weird mix of player created character with some personality and history but not too much so other players can try to roleplay. By making it this way you make the main char way less memorable than a set protag with clear history in cyberpunk world. Imo CDPR story team works the best when they work with already established main characters.
Next is the first person perspective. It works in combat but not always hits like it should in story quests. It is much more impactfull for players to see our character reactions. Witcher games are more simple with its dialogue system. Set camera on char faces WORKS in keeping players engaded in the dialogue and story. Players love seeing Geralt reactions to some silly situations or missions. It ADDS so much to even simple short boring quests! You have nothing like that in Cp bec of perspective and lack of cutscenes.
I think Cyberpunk mechanic of having free camera control doesnt work as good as in theory. I watch the game being streamed and 90% players dont look around all the time in dialogues anyway. So it takes much more time to perfect but the pay out is the same or worse than in witcher.
It is cool that CDPR wanted try something new with no set character and different perspective. It shows balls! It is just not always works in the end. Sometimes more simple metod works and thats why most games do it. What do you think abt these points? Keep up the good work, witcher con was great

  24. Thank you again for streaming for us, makes my day every Sunday! And also, thank you for picking Panam's questline first, the one I finished, so, streams are spoiler-free for me for a time being 😀

  25. Just wanted to say both my wife and I love Cyberpunk 2077, for us its one of the best games we have ever played with the most amazing city in any open world game, not to mention the fantastic gun play, incredible characters, stories, exploration, skill tress and detail that is second to none. I also don't understand why people think nothing changes in Cyberpunk, my wife and I have been comparing notes during our play through's and its surprising how different both our games have been. On a side note my wife thinks Panam is obnoxious and Judy is unreasonable, but she does like River! Keep up the great work and we are looking forward to the DLC's and expansions.

  26. Can you add new updates to finish the game because the game isnt complete?
I dont ask for new DLC now the game isnt finished and its a shame after so long
    more main quests
    armors
    weapons
    3rd person view
more lvl and stop making legendary pop based on your lvl…
upgrades items cost to much when you get all you need at low lvl and rise to lvl 50
add more difficulty lvl too its to easy
change all main quests for each faction it was a blast the first 10 mins then after its the same for all
saying i never been in subway isnt true i have been in there nothing special
if you only work on correcting bug and not adding stuff its very sad after 8 years how can you have so many bugs and instability on graphic?

  27. Fuck, I don't know what happened in this stream, but it is sad to see one of the nicest places to talk about the game invaded by absolute retards who think they were actually 8 years developing the game

  28. Awesome livestream. Question. Do you believe Cyberpunk is a good game? Ignoring all the glitches which have thankfully really been ironed out, do you fundamentally believe the core game is what was promised?

Im curious from a developers POV. Thanks!
