  1. Good Lord some people are stupid, you cannot switch a game engine like flipping a light switch. The very Foundation of a game is like an intricate web of code that only works based on how it was created. Switching engines is like pouring water onto that web of code, disconnecting countless threads in the process. They basically would have to make a brand new game.

  3. Honestly we will have plenty of games made in unreal 5. Im going to miss the red engine 😭. Cyberpunk can look photorealistic and run great on insane new hardware that I can't afford but I will never forget playing the Witcher 3 on my ps 4 and I loved every minute of it

  4. I see them ditching red engine as a huge failure on cdpr's part. They talked a big game for Year's about wanting to be the next Bethesda and even Rockstar! I'd say they successfully nailed it with Bethesda because they surpassed them in releasing the 🪲🪲 game ever. That title previously went to fallout 4. I wish they we're able to upgrade red engine to be able to compete with development for the next few years. It's definitely a huge failure and says a lot about the talent they have working there. I know it's not easy but they had access to a ton of $ after Witcher 3 but they obviously can't keep top talent anymore because of how the company is run and that's a big problem

  5. They had tons of time and $ to update red engine. Instead u can tell they spent way to much time on marketing cyberpunk that could have been used on updating red engine. Now they basically surrendered. Im not saying it's a negative thing I'm just sad to see it go. Unreal 5 will make great game's now let's see if they let their devs have enough time to master it

  6. It's really nice of you to explained to people who didn't know. Usually I'll just let the person make a fool out of himself/herself.
According to DF, UE5 can be pretty demanding too.

  7. what if developers of red engine are working with epic developers so they can make red engine porting possible, man I really don't want to see this game die

  8. Porting the entire game to UE 5? For what? It isn't worth it, at all. It doesn't matter how CDPr have fixed bugs and improved the overall experience, the new stuff they added till patch 1.5 is risible. Ridiculous. Ludicrous. Shameful.

  9. I look at the game engines the same way I look at the alphabets and languages. In one hand we have English, few letters in alphabet, comparatively easier to read and write and on the other hand we have lets say Chinese with much more complex alphabet and much more letters. Both languages gets the job done for their respective speakers' needs, but when you translate the idioms etc they don't fit in well. The same goes for the game Engines, Its possible to make the changes necessary to make REDengine similar to Unreal Engine, or any other game engine, but why bother when the other engine already have those capabilities with fewer necessary adjustments to make. And like the idioms example, you cant just move stuff over from one engine to another and expect it to work. Most of the time it is easier to do everything from scratch.

The very same example can be given to game mechanics of Cyberpunk as well, like why it is so hard to implement a proper police and chase system when GTA for example have those since early 2000s, because the Rage Engine already have those capabilities hardcoded and can be used in future games with simple tweaks whereas in RED Engine those features simply do not exist or very primitive, its CDPR's first attempt to create those mechanics. Like in languages, Red Engine doesn't have the capability of handling all the AI responsible for chase mechanics. Hopefully, with all the existing source codes of Unreal Engine those things will be easier to implement in future games.

  10. Cyberpink 2077 will never be a good game regardless of engine. Its built on top of poor game design at its very core. you cant fix that without starting again.

  11. Great video and a good explanation on why it simply won't work porting a game from one engine to another. I have a feeling that most people that believe that to be true are fairly young. How things work behind the GUI is mostly unknown to them. That's sad. We are reaching a point where the younger generation know less about IT-related topics than the older generation does. Now, I'm not saying it would be good if we return to the era before Direct X where you had to set IRQ's etc. for your sound card to be able to get any form of sound out of your game… but still. More knowledge of how computers, networks, etc. works behind the scenes wouldn't hurt

  12. I've studied and worked in game dev for a while now.. everytime I tried to share some cool info in comment sections (and I wish more game devs openly talked about these things!) , to help people understand how things work in industry, even some behind the scenes stuff regarding Cyberpunk 2077, as I used to have a contact there.. I get absolutely gang-banged by clueless, 10 year old smartasses with too much free time on their hands LOL! It gets a little tiring when you try to do something good and nobody is willing to listen because the truth hurts.. Thanks for the vid, LKM. Sometimes all it takes is a loud voice. Nothing is as simple as it seems. Game dev is actually a little tedious at times, and very complex and time consuming.

  13. lol, who would actually think its possible, also even if it was I would never want that as Unreal 5 has no games released on that engine, even game devs have said games they are making have been designed to be switched to Unreal 5 but they won't do that now as they don't want their players to be Q&A testers and want to wait a couple of years for the bugs to be sorted and games to be released. If people think Cyberpunk was or is buggy now it would be way worse switching engines even if it was possible.

  14. the fact that anyone actually said that clearly doesnt know how engines work….you cant just port it…hell even porting a game to a whole nother console is a ton of work…nothing about this process is as easy as people thing it is, and i wish that was more commonly known

  15. Why delete my first comment? The person you talked to was obviously just some whiner who wants to rally folks against CDPR. The fact that he doesn't accept a logical answer is proof that either he's just a troublemaker and a whiner or he's just a plain id**t. If he doesn't listen, might as well tell him to do a little bit of research so he stops asking questions.

  16. People dont have the slightest idea when it comes to gamedev and game engines, but they still hype the unreal engine 5 as if every game would benefit from using it which is definetely not the truth, especially when it comes to 2d games. It is really hard to develop 2d games with the unreal engine.

  17. Great video LKM🙂👍🏻
There's an annoying trend that I'd like youtubers like you who love CP2077 and TW3 to make a video about it.
I see many people say that CDPR's games are too much hand holding and they should learn from Elden Ring to let the players explore for themselves in the next Witcher game and all that nonesense.
Now personally I love Elden Ring and its exploration system but on the other hand I love how CDPR's latest games help you to play the game the way it's meant to be and I don't want the next Witcher to be like Elden Ring in terms of hand holding. So what's your opinion about this matter?
Would you be kind enough to make a video about it?😅💙

  18. I am ok with cyberpunk on Red Engine and will patiently wait for any new games they make on Unreal Engine 5 as I know nothing of how to make these amazing games, I just play the hell out of them and wait for the mod community to fix any shortcomings

  19. These people seem to have forgotten that the gta definitive edition exists, and that was just porting the original games to unreal engine and look how broken they were with so many stripped features from the originals😂.
