While not directly stated during Cyberpunk 2077, the community is able to infer that Silverhand is a Cyberpsycho due to the presence of “The Hand” within the Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG. This video covers Silverhands experience with cyberpsychosis, his cyberpsycho expression, and the experiences in his life that have made him susceptible to Cyberpsychosis as well.

I hope you all enjoyed the video and let me know your thoughts down here in the comments. Did this video answer some of the questions you've had since playing through the game and have you learned some new information beyond the original story. I really enjoy making this content and hope it helps to spread some information about the Cyberpunk universe. Have a great day chooms.
I really really love the videos that you made in the past weeks! Thank you :3
Is he a Psychopath? Maybe. Do we all still love him? Yes.
Really been enjoying the recent Johnny and Morgan videos. Gave me a whole new perspective into the game's story.
Man that's interesting…
I love your explanation as to how it is that V doesn't experience cyberpsychosis. After watching Edgerunners and seeing how every implant took a toll on David I played 2077 and equipped every single available implant but no signs of cyberpsychosis occurred which I wouldn't say was immersion breaking but it definitely left me questioning as to why CDPR didn't integrate an element of it into V.
Remember the hand that shows up in V's inventory? The first time I saw it, I figured it just had to do with Johnny and V's situation, but now it seems like there might be a deeper meaning behind it.
Been loving the Cyberpunk stuff, man. Keep it up!
Man…watching your videos about Johnny makes me realize how easily I trusted a gonked-out terrorist, who treats you like a buddy, just cause he is pushed into a corner and has no other option.
No matter how much he trash talks the corps and preaches to you how you should proceed by the end, he is as untrustworthy as them given the fact how skewed are his memories that make him seem like the biggest hotshot while Smasher just K.Os him with no problem.
I would like to believe that Johnny intentionally switches up his personality to try and charm up the green merc that is V. Try and fill his head with rebel talk, acting cool, etc. I will definitely play the expansion with a dose of skeptisism towards Johnny in the future.
Although I don't know if it has been explained what really is the deal between Soulkiller and Johnny. Does Soulkiller transfer the "consciousness" of a person, the "soul"? Or does it take the data of an individual's brain and make it basically a personality AI? If Jackie is taken by Arasaka, since his body is already decomposed badly enough, V only gets to have the most basic interactions with him. While Saburo (who backed himself up on the regular) seems like a fully conscious being.
Anyways, great video man. Cheers.
Seriously loving these videos man, ive been so engrossed in the lore and every time I watch one of ur vids my mind is blown by the things I didnt know on my first playthrough
First of all, this is genuinely a unique piece of content as I have never heard of Johnny being canonically (or non canonically) being referred to as a cyberpsycho. Well done love. However!
One thing I am genuinely willing to argue against is the claim that Adam Smasher is a sufferer of Cyberpsychosis
Because I believe he is not a cyberpsycho
He's a psychopath period (Note to the reader: Psychosis and Psychopathy are two distinct things.) I"ll quote wiki on this : "As if thoughts of lost humanity would bother Adam."
Frequently, psychopaths are presented in pop culture as people who lack that one aspect, one piece of the puzzle would otherwise make them human. I think the reason as to why Adam gelled with such a monumental amount of machinery is that he never was a standard human to begin with. His narcissism, lack of empathy (a pivotal part of humanity some argue) maybe even makes him immune to cyberpsychosis.
Tl:Dr you can't lose what you never had in the beggining
Keep these videos going, really easy to follow compared to other cyberpunk lore videos
When Johnny refers to his chrome hand as "The Hand" as if it's a separate entity…yeah.
Bit of a correction.. The maker of the game is wrong about people not finding out for 20 years.. This is basically the first time he is hearing about it due to the internet age and how connected people are with it. I remember playing this game and discussing that stuff about different characters and Silverhand was one of the ones we talked about having cyberpsychosis… That conversation went into a new character I got as a sort of B-day present.. That character ended up going through a sort of cyberpsychosis but its different. Since said character could not get implants. ( The group I played games with, sometimes we would give someone a special character as a odd B-day present. But there is always some major drawback of one kind or another. The character I had was basically a alternative route in technology. Instead of going cybernetic, that character was among the very few genetically altered humans. A lot more to it but that character eventually would be used as a "meat supply" for some time before said character finally broke free.. And that is how said character had his own form of Cyverpsychosis. Made playing said character interesting that is for sure. )
I’ve literally been saying this to my friends all week. Not only is he a cyber psycho the engram you’re working with is definitely edited for the interrogation. He has a very different understanding of how things went down and part of that is his ego but I’m quite certain that part of it is Arasaka because he literally brings this point up. They can edit part of you and you would never know.
I love these videos
Johnny is a narcissist who believes his own BS.
Man sometimes this is so wild to me, I remember practically living in this world, immersed in these stories as a teen in the early nineties. Night city was like my second home! I’m nearly fifty now and I’m watching fantastic lore videos like this one on the bloody net where I’m actually watching the shit happen like it’s a movie. You take this stuff for granted most of the time but sometimes, we’ll it’s just wild.
Johnny Silverhand is awesome and I can totally relate with him! The only thing I'm still missing is the chrome. 😉
Mike himself said while explaining cyber psychosis on reddit in September. That it was safe to assume V did not get it due to three reasons. We don’t know their true backstory, the relic is repairing or replacing damaged part of the brain and Johnny was “half cyber psycho anyways and has experience dealing with it” A high functioning Cyber psycho like you said.
There's another thing that points to Johnny not having too much regard for his own life. Over time Johnny had many Malorian pistols made for him, including one so powerful that he could only use it with his cyberarm. If you were going into a combat situation would you ever use your weapon in your off-hand?
Great video thank you!
That's true for the original Johnny Silverhand, closer to Heath Ledger's Joker, and that was the one they had in mind in CDPR, before there's imposed from outside the studio the decaffeinated version of Keanu Reeves.
Boop boop
Should check my theory on Johnny, Morgan and V and The Relic on the CP2077 subreddit!
I wouldn't be surprised if V has a unique case of cyberpsychosis due to the biochip. Think about it. At the end of the day, the chip is just a chip that is corrupting V's neurological system and mind. Silver hand is a construct who is both a schizophrenic-like delusion as well as a dissociative identity. Even if Johnny'd own madness keeps V from going traditionally cyberpsycho, having Silverhand be a alternate personality could be argued as madness on its own.
I wonder if the those crazed rants by Johnny ingame are episodes of his psychosis. Maybe even when V has those tremors, it's actually Johnny just having another episode
Interesting thought, from an NPCs viewpoint, the player character is a cyber psycho. You can CHOOSE to drive down the sidewalk running over civilians and having shootouts with cops for no reason other than the player wanting to see what happens lol.
Nicely done. I'm convinced.
I've never considered Johnny Silverhand having an actual benefit to V's ability to mod themself out, but if he was cyberpsycho and only a fraction of V's persona it would make sense that he might have in some way acted to divert the worst of cyberpsychosis, which is ironic considering that Johnny seems to have had a predisposition to it, having gone psycho after such little augmentation
Lol i kinda figured this he was having a cyberpsycho moment when his eyes where white and he was tweaking out in all fairness he did go through shit….
In the 2020 RPG, the sandevistan is a relatively small upgrade. It was a co-processor they tacked to your nervous system to speed up your perception and reaction time. "Sandevistan" became a nickname for a whole group of reflex boosters of similar type, less invasive than the kerenzikov reflex boosters.
A sandevistan was not active all the time. It takes one round to boot up and gives you +3 initiative. A kerenzikov booster is constantly active and gives either +1 or +2 depending on version. The kerenzikov is much more invasive because you now live your whole life in slow motion and need to adapt to it. The sandevistan overclocks your reactions for a few rounds and then kicks you back into normal perception.
It does not give you super speed. You can perceive the world faster, users describe experiencing the world in slow motion. It lets you see a dude reaching for a gun and start reacting to it faster than him. It does not make your own body move faster, you are still reaching for your own gun in the same slow-motion like you are moving through mud. +3 initiative just gives you that fraction of a second faster reaction time to pull the trigger before the other guy can, and that was often what resolved firefights in 2020. Are you just slightly faster than the other dude. When solos fight, they use both their own natural instinct, ambush tactics and cyberware to get that little bit of edge.
During the SouthAm war, they were rolling out the first cyberware. Troops were getting cyberlinks to their vehicles and to primative early smartguns and the first early cyberlimb prosthetics. Big full-body cyborgs were not around at that time. They started to discover the first side effects of cybernetics though. It alienates you from other humans, and dulls you one point of Empathy after another. A lot of veterans like Johnny would return home colder and more alienated in addition from the PTSD of high-intensity mechanized combat.
this content blows my circuits choom. Keep em coming and never fade away!! 🤘☠️🤘
Your videos are awesome sauce
Bro you deserve a million subs, the quality is insane, the video and explanations are crazy too!
i do have to raise a counterpoint. you can cybermod V completely well before you do The Heist and get the relic slotted, and V still doesnt get cyberpsychosis.
And he did shoot a random crowd member.
I really wish they add a flashback DLC with both Johnny and Morgan Blackhand together
İn cyberpsycho wiki page silverhand is one of them
