It's good but even today it doesn't live up to the hype that they sold us. And now instead of continuing to work on the game they decide to go to the cash grab route and just make cyberpunk 2
I get the point you're trying to make about immersion vs cinematic, but pick-up-able items are flagged well enough by little symbols that you fairly quickly get used to distinguishing pickups from eye candy. I do think they could have done more with the open-world aspect of the game though. It's always been obvious that the game is hugely unfinished in nearly every area apart from the main Keanu story, which is obviously what they downed tools on the rest of the game (so to speak) to get done. An executive decision (which of course they deny having made 🙂 ) that probably made sense at the time, given that they only had a relatively small window of opportunity to have Keanu, so they decided to milk it.
I've always thought that they'd have done better to actually finish and make the main game (open world and quests) really good, and leave the Keanu stuff to a DLC (just get him in another window of opportunity a year or two down the road). I remember at the Keanu reveal thinking, "Oh that's nice, we'll get a Keanu cameo in the game, cool – now what was that about gear customisability, class roles, etc.?"" I don't think anybody really wanted or expected the game to be such a weird mish-mash of a fairly well-done V/Keanu story on rails and an unfinished open-world RPG. We expected a classic open world RPG, and any Keanu cameo would have just been a nice little touch.
I suppose it's an understandable decision from their point of view at the time, but in retrospect it was a huge mistake. As it is, the game is a shell of what it could have been. You can still get some fun out of it, and the atmosphere of Night City and the cyberpunk feel you get in the game sometimes is unparalleled – there's no other game that does it as well, which I think is the only reason the game's stil surviving and being modded (people want it to be good because of the great art design and fundamental environment and atmosphere) – but it fell far short of reasonable expectations, given what they'd presented it as up to launch.

I like the chaotic fun of the combat, I gotta replay this.
EDIT: I heard the reason why this game performed so horribly on previous gen consoles is because of the hdd or ssd setting, I can't remember which was which, but one of them is better and the previous gen consoles have the other not-so-good one, so I'm surprised they released it for previous gen at all.
