  1. I have been saying this since 1.6 and I have been even more adamant about it ever since the release of the DLC.

    Cyberpunk 2077 is shot for shot, history repeating itself with fallout New Vegas:

    Both games had a horrible launch and were borderline unplayable on old gen, with massive performance issues, game breaking bugs and outright crashes after the launch of the game.

    Both games had an amazing story and characters that where mostly ignored due to these issues, with great side quests with amazing stories, great world building and amazing atmosphere being largely ignored due to people being burned by the glitches of the anticipated game.

    The game was largely anticipated due to the trust in the devs being formed after their previous releases from said dev's been really damn good games.

    After both games where largely fixed, they received massive expansions with great stories in them and massive improvements on concepts laid in the base game being present in each of the expansions (with cyberpunk unfortunately only getting one expansion although it was about the size of 2/3 DLC of fallout with is good but we could've gotten two expansions but hey we don't live in a perfect world)

    Hell the games even share similar main story beats: Our main character finds themselves in a middle of a massive power struggle where at first they are nothing but pawns in this struggle set out to deliver/steal an item of incredible importance with 6 having the platinum chip and V the relic bio chip, both of these items are important for all the big players in the game which leads to our character caching a bullet right to the dome for their "well preformed" task of delivering/stealing the item. After the item is fully in the possession of the player there is are choices to be made; With whom are you going to side? the powers that be in control of the current area and the ones that are at least partially responsible with you catching the bullet? (arasaka/Mr. house) The remanence of the old world (NCR/ALT) or are you going to shows all the powers that be a big old middle finger and do everything yourself (Independence/Legend).

    These stories, these games are incredibly similar to the point where I can say that history is repeating itself, however they have fundamental differences in how they want to tell their stories.

    New Vegas is a story entirely focused on the more global aspect of things, politics, power struggles and philosophies by which the world is shaped, your main character is a simple blank slate in all of this an empty hollow face that you can put yourself in the shoes of and effect the outcomes of the world around you leading to the success or failure of the big players in this world.

    While 2077 is a lot more focused on the character aspect of things with V being a fully-fledged character in their own right with multiple side characters that have their own incredibly complex stories that V plays a major role in where they can help the characters solve their issues and reforge bonds that were broken, help them leave the hell they find themselves in, allow them to achieve retribution and justice and of course let them achieve a sense of conclusion that they couldn't before (looking at you Johnny and Kerry)

    and this is best demonstrated in the endings of the games;

    In New Vegas we get slides of narration about our impact on the world of what happened to settlements, groups and factions we interacted with be it for the better or for worse.

    In 2077 we get calls from the characters we've most effected in the story again be it for better or for worse and we see their reactions to the outcomes we have chosen for them and ourselves, we see them suffer if we choice the easy way out (suicide), we see them congratulating us but being rightful judgmental of our choices if we took on the world for fame and glory (legend), we see them confused and angry if we decided to sacrifice ourselves for another (the johnny ending) and we see them sad and betrayed if we sell ourselves to the devil (arasaka ending)

    Both of these games are sides of the same coin in the end, stories of incredible grandeur and masterful writing that got overshadowed by a horrible launch.

    There is also the difference in style between the two but that goes without saying, one is far more focused on the roleplay side of things (new vegas) the other on the gameplay side of things (2077) and both do these things masterfully to the point where they surpass many games that came after in these aspects.

  2. Just finished phantom Liberty. This game is INCREDIBLE! It actually makes me sad for the devs who built this world only to release it in such a broken state that it nearly destroyed the company. Must have been gut wrenching but I am so glad they just put their heads down and got to work on fixing it. Today, it is one of the best MUST PLAY video game experiences available.

  3. This game always was, but just like other games like ac unity or no man's sky got overshadowed by a rough launch and the useless comparison between gtaV and cyberpunk. Everyone has been sleeping on this until now
