  1. Something to note about the Overture Revolver is despite being a future gun, it appears to use the same tech that went into that old Russian revolver (whos name escapes me) in that it can be suppressed despite it having a rotating cylinder.

  2. The angled down magazine on the one rifle reminds me of some of the magazine adapters for the FN Minimi, which I thought were fake when I first saw one in Rainbow 6 because it looked so weird. I presume they come out at an angle because the larger magazines an LMG wants to use would probably get in the way of your arm if it came out straight.

  3. Interesting question raised I think about handguards as the technology improves and if it did end in a Cyberpunk 2077 type of place. The point as I understand it of having rails on the gun as opposed to big handguards is to allow attachments (obviously) but what happens when all or most of the attachments can come baked into the gun electronically as we see in Cyberpunk? If you don't need to attach a red-dot or torch or different foregrips because the gun has a technological/electronic way of providing all those options then might big heat shield style hand guards come back into fashion again?

  4. I strongly suspect that the idea of the guns not having as many attachment points is that, quite simply, they are in the user now. Low light/thermals? Optics upgrade. Targeting? Smart link and optics. Recoil control? Cyber arms. IIRC there was an option in the early rules (haven't played in decades) to add a smart link to the gun which would relay a view from the muzzle to the users eye, much like IHADS but with the monocle built in to the person.

  5. One thing I was expecting him to mention but didn't: on the gun at 17:40, he mentions the AR15 charging handle but the player actually charges it from a charging handle on the left of the gun so the charging handle appears to possibly just be cosmetic.

  6. While the commentary about the gun at the final segment (regarding the barrel shroud being a reversion from preferring having accessories) is valid from a purely firearms perspective, how would the criticism differ with the knowledge that cybernetics are a huge component of the game, the player character has a replacement eye implanted early in the game (which enables Augmented reality components, as well as magnification capabilities) wouldn't that make modern rail-mounted accessories redundant? And in that case, may as well do something useful (even if it's making it easier to grip the barrel shortly after firing?)

  7. Great job GameSpot for using the game's photo mode to show give Jonathan a better look of the firearms. I must say, CDPR should be commended for creating great gun designs that even Jonathan appreciates, and the actual gunplay in the game is really good considering that it's the first time CDPR made a shooting game, and this is coming from a long-time R6 Siege player.

I'd like to point out though, GameSpot, that the expansion is called Phantom Liberty, not Phantom City.

  8. Please return to CoD:MW2 multiplayer guns. Also 5th season introduced transparent blueprint from not-SCAR (Taq-56, bluprint name Caliburn) so it would be nice to see Jonathan reaction to that.

  9. I love the idea of that disposable pistol. I guess the designers were thinking of the disposable Kodak camera. Even with the camera, it was well known that the last few shots on the roll are more likely to turn out bad or not come out at all.

  10. CP77's approach to everything was/is an ironic dichotomy of style vs substance on street level and tactical tech over raw power on the corporate level. I love how you could start a new character build and choose what kind of weapon to stick with (power/tech charge/smart homing). Sadly my series X broke yesterday so I won't be revisiting anytime soon.
