  1. Always thought this was the coolest unspoken backstory. Capturing rogue AI's and mixing them with a human 'host' body. Really makes me wonder what Elon Musk considering doing with Neuralink.

  2. It should truly raise alarm bells for everyone, especially V; that Militech was terrified of this coming to light. Militech isn't some nice guy Corp and they regularly play fast and loose with the rules, tactical bombings and other mass casualty events are nothing new for them. So if Militech higher management is saying "hey, no bueno, too risky, pull out." Then you know it's essentially a world ending cataclysm they (maybe) dodged.

  3. I always kill both of them because they are both spies that broke the first rule of spying. They got caught in the act and would have to get rid of the witness (us) to keep their lives.

    Militech, sure. Cynosure, obviously… D-D-Disney?!
    Oh, it says Netwatch.

Lesson of today: never trust Militech.
They provided nuclear charges for the attack on Arasaka Tower during the Night City Holocaust, and for decades since then, were poking and prodding around the AI designed to protect humanity (in the form of the Blackwall). Their goal? Collaring rogue AIs and scavenging lost data which might still exist in the Old Net.
Definitely a high risk, high reward mission, but the risk outweighs the reward. The common allure of 'forbidden knowledge' which exists outside of mankind's grasp has been the bane of many an adventurer, no matter how enticing, whether it be the rogue AIs or even the Blackwall itself. Over time, it will seemingly absorb the data of those who approach its interface, much like in the case of So Mi, memory loss. What makes it even more tragic is that So Mi isn't a willing participant in her proximity to the Blackwall.
    It's all on Myers.

    But anyways.. Netwatch.
They are regularly paid by corporations to maintain and quell threats against the AI. Heck, they have a monopoly on it. But what I find interesting in all of this is that they teamed up with Militech in what would be a highly controversial move, especially since this is strictly for the corp's personal gain.
Militech would have a pretty big hand in funding Netwatch, but would also need to leverage in a means to try acquiring any return of their loses/other corporations lost data as a result of the Datakrash. Desperate to gain an edge over Arasaka, bombing Arasaka Tower and getting them kicked out of the NUSA is child's play compared to recovering corporate data which is deemed outside of everyone's reach. What they didn't anticipate is that the Blackwall itself watches and studies those who prowl near it. In their pursuit of knowledge and power, they meddled with the very thing which was designed to protect them, and as I believe, begun its corruption, or piqued its interest in data collection from corporate netrunners.
After all, AIs have a tendency to collect and horde data. The Blackwall might not have Soulkiller, but it's performing an unusually similar effect in memory/data collection.

Netwatch probably wanted a cut of the potential spoils for themselves, as well, as in the corporate world, knowledge is power. With Militech doing the probing of the Blackwall and whatever access they can get in the ruins of the Old Net, Netwatch security would act as the proverbial band aid, to staunch the bleed through in whatever holes Militech would cause, thus closing the loop. However, it's not such a simple task, as what they didn't take into account was that the very thing they were penetrating to reach their quarry is as much of a threat to them as the rogue AIs they wanted to corral. Perhaps even more so.
Upon realizing this, it would make sense that Netwatch would want to bury any knowledge of this, and silence anyone who found out, because the public knowing about these shady dealings would be catastrophic.

Good video as always, and I hope your toilets are cleaner than the ones at Cynosure.

  5. 13:05 – Those questions are the kind seen in the Voight-Kampff tests in Bladerunner, meant to tell replicant from human by observing the micro-expressions in the face in response to the nonsensical questions. I'm guessing they used these kinds of questions here to ensure that the person that came back from the dive is the netrunner that went in, and not something else wearing their skin.

  6. But also you have to take into consideration that Netwatch knows the Blackwall will fall, and thus Cynosure was a desperate attempt at preparing for that eventuality, as the only thing that can fight an AI as we know is another AI, in the Cyberpunk Universe, Alt proves it is on the side of Humanity to an extent

  7. first time I played I didn't read that much stuff so I sided with Bree. but second time my drug dealer street kid V shot both to the head 😀 because she is not siding with them goddamn corpo rats…. she also didn't side with netwatch and killed voodoo boys because she had some anger issues. She sided with Songbird also. but yes first time I missed those other side story points and thought maybe Bree is the "right" thing to do but second time I though maybe Dante is.. or maybe it's not either and it's this side with evil or evil but I don't like to say it's even evil or evil. it's Night City – there is no "right" thing to do maybe? or it depends on your characters point of view.

I think there is too much story releated info in text format. it's exhausting to read stuff after work day. it might help if the text formats could be also voice lined. Like in Mass Effect the dictionary entries are voice lined. Gotta play that other content also and side with Reed with my third playthrough.
