Cyberpunk 2077 FINALLY got FSR 3 frame generation after wuite some time. The latest patch for Cyberpunk 2077 just launched and I decided to give it a test.
Unfortunately this is not FSR 3.1 Frame Generation, meaning that FSR Frame Generation is still coupled to FSR Upscaling, whereas with FSR 3.1 Frame Generation you can use DLSS Upscaling alongside FSR Frame Generation.
So how does FSR 3 Frame Generation compare to DLSS 3 Frame Generation in Cyberpunk 2077? Well, let’s find out, shall we?
One thing I can tell you is that frame pacing is a big issue with the official FSR 3 frame generation implementation. Here’s to hoping it gets resolved soon!

The implementation of FSR 3 Frame Generation in Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely a good thing for Radeon users, as well as people with older Nvidia GPUs. It has been available via a mod for some time, but it is great to finally see it officially being implemented!
That said, frame pacing is a big issue with this implementation so here's to hoping it gets resolved soon…
Hope fully an update sooner rather than later can smoothen it out a little more.. good for a first implementation as it's been a while in high demand.. can only get better from here.
Fsr 3.1 wouldve been soo good for everyone. But hey at least its finally added
Adding FSR 3.0 first now to games that has been out for a while is quite disappointing, since FSR 3.1 has been officially out there for some time now.
FSR 3.1 looks noticeable better than 3.0 (FSR 2.2 with FSR FG) too and when testing in games such as Remnant 2 prior to FSR 3.1 implementation, seems to run a lot better too.
Also this same update for Cyberpunk lets you now use Nvidia's DLAA with Ray-Reconstruction (I upgraded too from a 1080 Ti Gaming X to 4070 Super Gaming X Slim here in August).
I have got to say, DLAA & FG looks super nice as I have been testing it out in different games such as The Finals, Horizon Forbidden West and Forza Horizon 5 etc.
Be sure to uncap your frame rate & set "Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames" to 1 through NVIDIA Profile Inspector (unless your CPU is already heavily bottlenecking – default is 3).
im sorry but FSR 3 FG feels choppy even with vrr at 130fps. This is bad. Its time to upgrade 40 series i guess, rip rtx 3070
LukeFZ Uniscaler is the way to go!
star wars jedi survivor also got a patch today claiming they improved performance, i hope you can take a look and let us now what you think.
But what that Ray Tracing do 😮👀
Possible to use frame gen natively?
Dont get why they didnt get the FSR 3.1 would be much more stable and the Implementation should be right, if not why even make the effort…
This is an Nvidia showcase game, It's not in the nvidias best interest for people to start using DLSS upscale with FSR frame generation. They prefer to implement a version that forces you to use FSR so as not to make the 40 series look bad when compared to the 30 series, 40 series will still have the advantage of havig better (much better) upscale.
I would run it at 4K with FG on my Rx 6800 and it looks amazing. so pleased man. yeah the 1% lows are bad on 1440p. well not bad just not great nowhere near like DLSS but it isn't FSR 3.1 unfortinately which does a lot better. Why they didn't upgrade to FSR3.1 guess it was already implimented by the time it came out. I haven't played this yet bought the ultimate edition when it launched but have been waiting for FSR 3 or 3.1 Hope they add 3.1. I doubt it
Wow we can now have RT in cyberpunk. I tested it with FG mod and it worked well so had been waiting for proper implimentation so that RT is feasible in this game on AMD
FSR 3 looks worse than 2 in this game, a lot worse…. Very disappointed.
so with a 3080 I would be better off with the dlss3 replacement mod I suppose
FSR 3.0 is just FSR 2.1 with FG. They should have added 3.1. There's no frame increase and the image quality is worse.
There is a mod on Nexusmods called "dlssg-to-fsr3" which replaces nvidia's FG with FSR3.1. it actually uses FSR3.1 and lets you play with DLSS enabled. Can't link on youtube because the comment will get deleted, but if you put the mod name above without the quotes in google you'll find it as the first link. keep in mind that it's a mod so its not perfect, the main issue i found was it had a bit of ghosting and rasterized shadows were sometimes broken with it (doesn't happen with RT shadows) Digital Foundry also made a video about it.
Also for the best performance with FG I recommend using a framerate limit in cyberpunk to 60 or 70 fps, so your GPU doesn't always run at 100% utilization (FG will double the limit's value)
remember that unlike DLSS3, FSR3 FG needs GPU power because it's not running on tensor cores (this is why the 1% lows are worse, because the GPU is struggling already)
HOWEVER, this mod was working fine with the last patch, I'm actually unsure if it will work if you have already updated the game. People in the comments of the mod will probably find a way to get it to work.
They been saying they were implementing FSR3 into the game since Oct last year (11 months ago), what do they have an intern working on it and couldn't spend more than 1 minute per week to implement it?
The mod for FSR3 has been out for over 8 months and the FSR3.1 has been out for 4 months doesn't require a restart and works much better, the modders are making the devs look pathetic!
works worse than in mods. It is limited to FSR3 and FSR2.1, there is no possibility to enable it with DLSS. It is also a poor implementation, unfortunately
those 1% lows are tough
