Cyberpunk 2077's Allegedly "Satisfactory" Performance is a Classic Case of Fallen Standards

Let’s also not forget that Cyberpunk 2077 also legitimately failed to meet some of its own expectations. Dialogue options ended up not leading to quite as wide an array of outcomes as the CDPR seemed to imply they would, and most of the better action sequences take place in scripted moments rather than out in the wild, and most of them will be encountered regardless of which life path you choose. That’s not to say the game isn’t a massive, sprawling world full of different ways to experience it, but at the same time, it’s not the revolution in open-world games that many feel they were led to believe it would be. No number of patches can really change this. But the most egregious part of all of this is the fact that the expectations of the game and thusly CDPR are now much lower than they used to be. Their next game, whatever that is, will now be met with the trepidation and hesitation that Cyberpunk 2077 probably should have had.

All of that said, the game certainly has its strong points and sets the bar for its genre in a number of ways. As it continues to receive patches and get closer and closer to its proposed vision, the brighter spots of the game’s interesting world and vast array of things to do will become all the more evident, while its various blemishes continue to fade ever more into smaller and smaller pockets of the experience. It’s a good thing that we have patches for situations like this, and it’s a good thing that the game is still ultimately in very capable hands who are more than able to fix its various issues, but overcoming the damage done to the games’ and CDPR’s reputation will prove to be the heaviest lift of all.

  2. The problem is that we were let down. It’s kinda like hopes in a relationship then your partner cheats on you. You lose respect and all dignity. Yes you can go back to it but it doesn’t feel the same like before the crisis. 😒

  3. Man with all the problems of the game they had the life paths should have been so different that was one of the biggest things I was hoping for doesn't help that it's 100gb for the ps4 to download

  4. It came and it went meanwhile I’ve been playing my 60 hour save in AC Valhalla, teaming up w/ my twin sister for GOT Legends nightmare challenges, and getting hella gay w/ the boys in Cold War and having a blast. Cyberpunk 2077’s failure wasn’t even huge and epic like No Man’s Sky or Fallout 76 just kinda sad and lame like everything else about it

  5. Still disappointed with Anthem and like to think that push developers into rushing out titles that clearly needed more time hopefully they will learn from that and Cyberpunk.

  6. CD projekt red management are at fault. The devs told them it wasn't ready but the upper floors just wanted that Christmas money.
As far as I'm concerned CD project red have proven themselves as bad as EA or Activision

  7. I'm glad when I lived thru an era when 99.99% finished games were released and a handful or patches fixed minor issues and a lot of patches actually added extra stuff. They call that free extra stuff DLC these days and charge you more for it. 🤨 The downside to that era was actually downloading patches on a 56k modem and the patch was 10MB. Thankfully, most patches were no more than 2MB and I moved over to 512KB fibre which meant I was always asked 'Can you get this patch or that patch!?' 'Yeah b*tches, Daddy can you your patches!!' 😂

  8. I can't believe you are still bitching about the game's launch. You have been beating the dead horse for over 6 months. You said absolutely nothing new in this video than in all your other numerous videos about the same thing. Isn't time you move on?

  9. Could you imagine? Being an emerging rock band and releasing one of the best albums of the decade, and then for your second album people have high expectations, but you release an album with out-of-tune guitars, poorly mixed, with a lack of instruments. and then you go out to say that the fans don't understand how difficult it is to record a music record, and after 6 months of being available on spotify and music stores, you come out to say that they made adjustments and now you are satisfied with the sound of the record….. well that's what Cd Projekt Red did

  10. Didn't succumb to the hype, never wanted to watch videos on it so I wouldn't be spoiled, it was an extremely enjoyable experience, even with the bugs and missing features I didn't know were missing.
Can't wait to see what they'll add.

People in chat saying everyone moved on from this game, when the large hate group clicks on each video every time it's posted about it to complain about it LUL

  11. Cyberpunk 2077 was made for 4 years and ~5 months. That is official and it's coming directly from the lead quest designer Pawel Sasco. The production started back in July 2016 right after last expansion of W3 was released. Before that since the very announcement (2012) were just prototypes and stuff to test the new universe.

  12. I remember telling people that I had a bad feeling about the game not living up to the hype. Little did I know it would hav been that bad. I’m glad I never purchased it. They can patch everything and make the game perfect and I’ll never buy the game.
