Cyberpunk 2077: Why 2022 May Bring Actual Redemption

Cyberpunk 2077 has a big year ahead of it between a next-gen launch, free DLC and a large expansion. Unlike 2021 which was purely a rebuilding phase, this may actually be the moment for a turnaround, even if it’s a year and a half after launch. This is why.

  1. It sucks that the game didn't run well on last gen consoles, considering they're still the most massive portion of a games expected playerbase.
The game only running decent on pcs and next gen consoles was inexcusable and it's depressing how the game still doesn't feel.. finished, even a full year later.
I'll play the game again when it doesn't look like a PS3 game, even in 4k.
Even though most humans didn't get their hands on next gen consoles bc bots were amassing large amounts of them at once.

  2. The question will be how CDPR try and engage new casual players, people who have long since forgotten about this game, given that they're unlikely to spend much more money on its marketing. Spending all this time on a next gen patch for a game people now expect to pick up for less than $25 is a kick in the teeth that CDPR rightly deserve.

  3. Patch 1.5: February – March
EP1: March – May (according to IGN)
Multiplayer: April – August (probably 1-2 months after EP1, my guess)
EP2: December, maybe? (Been works after I think 1.31 got released)

  5. My Play through is a quest for the platinum trophy on PS5. 2/3 of the way through -and after saving to buy every car in the game – I run into a progression bug on a cyberpsycho side quest, which still wasn’t fixed after the last patch. If the bug isn’t squashed and paired with a new game + available, I’ll never come back to Cyberpunk or any other CDPR game.

  6. I played it on PC, finished it yesterday actually, and while it was fairly smooth overall it certainly still has a lot of technical issues that need to get worked out. If they can fix up the performances issues and bugs, get the console versions up to par with PC, and the 1.5 patch brings some desperately needed QoL changes like previewing clothes before you buy them, and being able to change your appearance (all things that seem trivial, but might be my single biggest complaints), I really do think the perception of the game could turn around pretty strongly.

  7. to me, this game was like a really hot girl with a 3rd grade education level. Absolutely gorgeous to look at but once you engage with it on a deeper level you realize youve stepped into the shallowest pond in the world. Fallout 4 had better RPG mechanics than this mess. And less bugs lmao. Couldn't possibly care less what happens to this game, but for those assassins creed and farcry fans who are still clinging on to their "this game was actually good" opinion sure, hope it works out for you.

  8. 2077 is like a futuristic Oblivion and despite all the bugs, I love it dearly and hope it relaunches well. (Side note: call me crazy, but honestly I have a fairly strong feeling we'll see it end up on GP sometime this year.)

  9. Still trying to figure how TW3's New Gen update is still in development when it was announced around 09/20 and has been worked on by an outside team. 16 months later and we're still looking at probably 2nd or 3rd quarter 2022. Not holding my breath that CP 2077's Q1 goal is achievable by CDPR.
    Prove me wrong devs…

  10. I dont care what anyone says. Yes base console versions were buggy and suits pushed the game out 6 months early, but THE ACTUAL DEVS, made a great game. Not Witcher 3 level but who knows how much they were forced to cut from the game systems and rpg. I played at launch on next gen and fucking loved this game. So much promise and if it didn't have bugs would be viewed as fantastic. Hoping they right the ship and the money men learn not to fuck with this level of talented studio. EA sure push out a shit Battlefield because who cares about cookie cutter shit. But the devs at CDPR have proven time and again they are masters of RPG. If the next hen update is great and a big expansion comes I'm playing through again. Wish we could get official details about what got cut because you can tell it was a chunk

  11. I played it at launch on base xbox one and it wasn't that great.
The frame rate was atrocious and the NPC character models for random people in the street looked like they had been pulled from a ps2 game tbh. I uninstalled the game soon after that

But just recently I re installed it to new series X to see if there was improvement and yeah, there is a massive improvement in performance and hardly any glitching which leads me to one conclusion

Cyberpunk 2077 should not have been released on last gen. If CDPR had solely concentrated on true next gen releases then they wouldn't have messed up so bad

  12. So, I played it on the OLD PS4. Not Pro, not slim, OLD PS4. And I gotta say, even at launch, I didn't have more than a handful of crashes. I could legit go hours of playing before a crash happened. And while it sucked obviously, I still had so much fun playing this game. There's SO much to explore, SO much to do and investigate.

My own personal gripes with the game, though, as it stands are as follows(and I hope get expanded upon in future releases):
    1. The customization options when creating your character on console without the option for mods, was honestly slightly disappointing. There was a decent amount available, sure. But 1 of the things that I was most hyped about was being able to REALLY get my V to look exactly how I wanted and that the customization would be amazing. I was slightly disappointed in that regard, so hopefully that gets addressed? (doubtful but 1 can hope)
    2. The interactions you have with the person you choose to romance. It's very shallow. I played FemV, romanced Judy, and while I did genuinely fall in love with her character, design, and backstory. There just wasn't any….depth to the romantic situation. Maybe I am personally expecting TOO much in that regard, but there's no option to like, text her, or call her, because once you bang, that's kind of it for dialogue until post game scene. I would love for there to be more dialogue or options to interact with the person we chose to romance in this game. Maybe have a whole side quest released dedicated to actually being romantic? idk, would be cool.
    3. Last but not least, is the 'Path you choose' at the beginning of the Game. It makes next to no difference outside of just pure dialogue which 'life' you decide to start out in. I chose Corpo from the get-go because I was under the impression there'd be a full on mini-quest line/intro at the beginning of the game, or at least that it'd make a much bigger impact in the story depending on what route you chose, outside of just dialogue. Have us do a few missions with the route we chose at the beginning of the game as our 'tutorial' in the game, because being thrown into the fire without really learning the controls first, getting a feel for gameplay kinda sucked ngl. I wanted to be a corpo assassin, and had a whole idea in my head for how to build myself out after I got a chance to see the skills screen…and then we get unceremoniously fired without even doing anything? that left a real sour taste in my mouth.
HM: The whole cutscene of us being with Jackie at the beginning, kinda skipping out on essentially months worth of quests kinda bugged me low key. Like I understand they wanted expediency to get us to the meat of the game, but doing the legit 1st merc mission woulda been nice just to establish ourselves as V and we're a badass.

overall, I loved everything about the story, the gameplay was crisp, the build potential was amazing, the side missions were endless which I loved personally. Very solid foundation to a game, but was obviously not fully polished when the Corpos decided to delta the game out early.

  13. I played it at launch, and I did enjoy it, but it just wasn’t what I expected it to be. I don’t think they will address what I feel is the biggest issue with the game. Which is that the gangs feel underused, or like an afterthought, and what I think should have been the first act of the game was a montage. I think that the first portion of the game should be building friendship with Jackie on basic jobs to earn the chance to do the heist, and that would be how they flesh out the gangs. It just feels like a MASSIVE missed opportunity in my opinion. That and that I wanted the city to be more interactive with vendors and NPCs. It’s like a huge puddle that’s shallower than it looks.

I’m also ok with no new zones for DLC. I usually don’t like when games do that. It usually feels too disconnected from her base game to me.

  14. Is this not basically what everyone was expecting to happen since launch? The people who could get it to work in a reasonable state seemed to mostly really like the game. The issues were that it was an unfinished mess for most OTHER people, and CDPR outright lied about it. But, we have seen this song and dance a zillion times before at this point, no? So many games launch in a terrible state, only to reached the state they SHOULD have launched in years later. Destiny, No Man's Sky, Sea of Thieves, etc.

None of this really strikes me as surprising or unexpected in any way. I think most people could've guessed that, assuming they didn't drop it altogether for some reason (like Anthem), it was going to be a good game, EVENTUALLY.

I just hope this doesn't make people forget the genuine issues that were present with the game when it launched. CDPR ate a LOT of shit for that launch, and the people in charge who made it happen that way deserve EVERY BIT OF IT.

  15. Meh. I think you should shit on the game until it is not a mess or not cover it at all. Once it is finished it should sell for $10 or just be free considering their launch was borderline criminal. This is not a situation that calls for kindness or hope or for you to even be reasonable. Their product/service was/is not reasonable and therefore you as the consumer do not have to be. Do not be nice to greedy lil fibbers. Reserve your love and money (time and energy) for the teams that deserve it.

  16. They are adding things that modders already added….. the paid dlc should be free for misleading us all. I really like the game but it wasn't the game that was advertised.

  17. I think this game will just end up being ok.. Then kinda fade away. It doesn't seem like they will do the things, that should have been done, to make the gam closer to what was promised.. Then we will start hearing about a new Cyberpunkngame, that will probably be, and do better… It better have third person view too.

  18. They need to add and improve an insane amount of things.
After the dissapointing 2021 updates, sadly im not optimistic. We will get a few cars, weapons and gigs (filler missions)
